Breaking News: Lue Gone 2018-10-28 Off By Excl As per multiple sources, Tyronne Lue has been relieved of coaching duties of the Cavaliers. Larry Drew appears to be next up as interim coach. Recap: Pacers 119, Cavs 107 (Or, Lue the Pumpkin Smasher) Podcast 184: Lue-sin’ It
At least we aren’t the wizards. It could be worse.
just read love may be out about a month!!?? really? well, his trade value has just gone to 0.0.. sad
oldsters carry risk.. so $120 million of a wasting injured asset on the books.. talk about diamonds turning into coal..
Good. Im exhausted from hearing about possible Love trades. 4 years of if has been enough. He’s a Cav till January either way so can’t the world just let it rest till 2019 at the very least?
…both gone before the Day of Tues, though long past due, many clevelanders requests have gone through…
The Hue – Lue one two fired dudes has come to be true.

I like the Dr. Seuss idea. They could call it, “Cleveland hires WHO?”
Guess who is 218th out of 219 all time?

It will take a while till he catches Bert Bell for last place.
Whoa! If Hue doe pass Bell, does he get to be NFL commissioner?
Interesting take from Vardon. He talks about what happened in more detail the first 25 min of this podcast. He also notes that he didn’t think DG ordered the hit:

Wonder if there was indeed a serious Altman/Lue disagreement over who should be getting PT?
Sure sounds like it. Lue vs Altman and Gilbert.
I sure hope we don’t become Sacramento of the East and miss the playoffs for a decade plus, but given Gilbert’s record without LeBron, it also wouldn’t surprise me.
Lue a classy guy and brought a title to the Land. Many thanks and my gratitude to Mr. Lue.
Yeah he isn’t a good coach, but he isn’t the worst coach. You can win with him if you have basically the best team/the best player in the world, but he certainly is not the right coach for this team, or a team that needs to be elevated beyond its individual parts. He is not a guy that can do that. So good luck Lue and thanks for at least not having the team completely rebel against you during the championship year. Hope you land with another LBJ type player.
Hammon & Messina would top my list. Though if they would want to work for Dan is another question.
Very surprised at the timing. Thought Lue would get at least 25-30 games. Though I think it WAS the right move.
Cannot believe Longabardi is not out as well.
Gilbert is the real issue, however. Not reupping Griffin. He is delusional if he thinks this team is anywhere near a PO spot, especially with Love out and Dekker as the only other 4 on the roster (who could have predicted that?). Altman has been poor so far.
We will see how Drew does.
This is one of the most poorly managed organizations in the league. Up there with Sacramento and the Knicks.
Hard to argue with that. Minnesota is in the discussion.
SO ANTE’S 3 MIN’S OF TOKEN GARBAGE TIME—-WAS THAT TY’S WAY OF SAYING SCREW YOU TO KOLBY —–WE SHALL SEE
THANK YOU EVIL
POLLS/ SURVEYS ARE WHAT THEY ARE–TAKE THEM FOR WHAT THEY ARE WORTH——75% AND CLIMBING FAVORED THE CAVS DECISION ——ARCH I LIKE THAT IDEA !!!—MARK PRICE —-HOW ABOUT JIM CHONES
What about Mark Price as the Cavs HC?
So on board with that idea . I spent a ton of my childhood wanting to be Mark Price when I grew up. Wish I could go back and tell the young and chronically shorter than my peers self that by the end of High School Id actually be taller than Price. I might’ve stuck with playing basketball.
…not like I could’ve made a career of it, but at least id be less out of shape…
HOW MANY GAMES DID MIKE BROWN COACH—(BELIEVE 2 )–BEFORE KOBY RAN HIM OUT OF L.A. ——-JUST SAYING CAVS AREN’T THE 1ST —

The Cavs are still paying Mike Brown?
https://twitter.com/FearTheSword/status/1056635810290765825?s=20
Yes, Brown’s contract originally ran through the 2017-18 season, but when he was fired the two sides agreed to spread the payments out through 2020.

TA is clueless if he thinks Lue shouldn’t have been fired.
I don’t get why the veterans would be upset with Sexton getting minutes if he’s one of the building blocks of the future. They should’ve been upset that Clarkson/Hood were getting those minutes too.
I AGREE TO SOME EXTENT THAT THE TIMING WASN’T THE GREATEST –( BUT WHEN IS IT )—-IF THEY CUT HIM LOOSE AFTER THE CAVS HAVE JUST REACHED THE FINALS 4YRS / ROW —HOW DO YOU THINK THAT WOULD HAVE WENT OVER —AND THEY COULDN’T DO ANYTHING UNTIL LA-BRON MADE HIS DECISION ——-IT HAS BEEN MENTIONED HERE BEFORE—I WOULD NOT BE UPSET IF THEY MADE A CALL TO A CERTAIN DAVID BLATT

Question. You and most of the other writers on this blog have long thought Lue was a subpar coach, at least for this team. I would have given Lue a half season, or maybe the year, but I think he had to go. Give him more talent than nearly anyone else and by far the best player in the world and his teams can win in spite of some of his decisions, lack of in game adjustments, nonsensical rotations, lack of any offensive system, needing three or more games to make adjustments in playoff series, lack of accountability, and his… Read more »
Oh. Losing Lue was the right move either last summer, or last spring. But this was mismanaged on so many levels: the lack of communication, the useless offseason, the meddling in Lue’s lineups. Now that Lue is gone I want Koby gone too. The guy has given us two of the worst trades we’ve ever seen, assembled a loser squad that doesn’t make sense. I mean they don’t even have a competent backup four (unless you count larry). He’s also not putting them in a good position to turn Korver, Hill, and Smith into picks/young players. He’s just a disaster.
Lue was half the equation of incompetence. Now the other half has to go.
I don’t disagree with any of this. I do wonder how much control DG cedes to whoever would replace Altman. Essentially, would it even matter?
From what I’ve heard previously, DG has wielded more and more power with the FO with each new GM.
Lue was 25%, Altman is 24%. Gilbert is 51%.
Plus they don’t really have a backup plan. Larry Drew wants a multi year deal, and I don’t blame him. Why should he babysit this squad until April, when Gilbert will inevitably fire him.

Sounds like Koby Altman and CavsDan lied to the vets and destroyed the whole season.
Peak Korby!
Did they actually say they would play or not have their minutes cut? That is terrible management if they did. If they made no guarantees and simply told Lue to cut minutes, then I can’t side with players who are unhappy not playing. Obviously, interference in coaching decisions is a bad idea in general, but since Lue is obsessed with playing veterans (minus Korver) that have been dumpster fires for two years (JR, TT, etc) then I get why they would feel the need to intervene. But if they were worried about that they should have canned Lue immediately after… Read more »
^This is the whole point! You clear these concerns out early in the off-season and get everyone on the same page. Not after the season has started. This mismanagement starts from the very top.
They likely couldn’t do anything until LBJ told the world what he was doing, because he never told the cavs more than a day or few hours before he told the press both times he has left.
So that was a month after the playoffs and 2 months into the offseason for all non-playoff teams (the usual teams looking for coaches). So that likely made it a bit more difficult to find a suitable candidate this offseason. They still should have tried for Messina this summer though.

Classic Cavs.
Would you make that agreement? I wouldn’t. They have to go get someone outside retreads.
Sure. No head coach works on a lame duck deal. Pay him a two year deal or go hire someone else.
Really? Feel like most interim guys get a raise but not a multi-year deal until the end of the season. Not much point in hiring someone now when the top tier candidates won’t be available until the end of the season. Not much point I’m giving an interim multiyears if you just plan on getting someone else after the season.
I don’t blame him, but Cavs would be idiots to do that. They need a coach who is a fit with their team right now, and who can try to mold young players.
CAVS “PLAYING WITH PACE ” WITH THE TERMINATION OF TY
Lol! Hope they are just as quick to find a good development coach…
