Live Thread: Cavs @ Celtics (#NewNumber2)
2018-11-30This is gonna be quick, because I’m not at home, but wanted to get a thread up for you diehards on the last Friday night in November. Collin Sexton and the Cavs make their first trip to Boston in the regular season tonight, and the new #2 gets to face off against the old #2 (who is now #11). Kyrie would like his fans to believe (via his new Nike ad with his dad Drederick) that he chose the number because of his old man. That might be true, but it’s also true that #2 wasn’t available, because it was retired for Red Auerbach in 1985, when it was decided that Red was the second most important Celtic to Walter Brown in Boston team lore.
Anyway, here’s hoping the new number two does a number on the shamrocks tonight. Boston barely has their collective head above water at 11-10, a far cry from where most experts picked President Stevens to have them by this point in the year. They may yet recover, and probably will continue their most recent upward swing against the still depleted wine and gold. At least we’ll get our first look at Alec Burks in a Cavs uni…
Prediction: 108-102 Celtics.
Catch all the action on FSO starting… right now!
I really hope the Cavs are looking at Ettore Messina, Ime Udoka, and Monty Williams for the head coach position.
They played with no heart, rhythm and no trust. There were too many moments Sexton got caught up in the cartoonish Kyrie’s hypnotic spinning wheel 😵 and he forgot he had other team mates on the floor. Once he snapped out of Svengali’s control , it was too late.
Is -39 a new +/- low for a Cav this year? Cedi killed it tonight…
That coaching change is sure working out. What a dumb move. We suck. Cedi sucks. Nance sucks. TT is the best player on the team. Blow it up. Start over. Get a real coach.
Lue was on Pace for 0 and 82. And he had everyone healthy and still on the team. Checkmate.
Sucked worse under Lue.

Kilbert? Is that Korby’s partner in crime?
Thats the new nickname fir Koby+Gilbert it is official
I like Corbert.
Boston commentators quite enjoying the demise of the Cavs, tonight and in the bigger picture. All class.
And Kyrie suddenly very visible on the bench (anyone remember his invisibility during the playoffs?), flexing for every dunk. Time to switch off.
Yeah I don’t Kyrie’s anger towards the Cavs or Cleveland? He didn’t have to sign a max deal? Then tweet out “Cleveland Kid.” Break a leg Kyrie, and I mean go break your leg.
His frustration/teen angst is aimed at one person…LeBron “sonned” him way too many times. It was gross and obvious, and yet it’s just an extension of the dysfunction that is Cleveland… we’re getting used to it.
He made plenty of hints he didn’t like Lue’s coaching either. There’s also his father’s influence who pretty much hated Cleveland from Day 1.
Kyrie is an ass.
Well the Cavs have stomped them for 4 years straight.
Korver and Crowder carrying Utah’s bench tonight…. blowing out Hornets.
Nice to hear–I felt for Crowder. He wasn’t the right target for JR’s ire, and when he joined us, he was not ready for the craziness that comes with Cavaliers championship expectations… we all can appreciate KK’s qualities.
Yeah, was truly disappointed with Crowder’s tenure with Cavs – hoped he was going to take the next step, really thought he was going to be one of the missing pieces. Instead, he went missing.
Mainly cause Lue is terrible.
Preach. It only hurts when we imagine this team coached by someone who could maximize this team’s four years’ worth of talent. 2016 was a pure act of will…
Nope, he was a second-rounder for a reason.
Yeah… it’s clear he’s a bench piece, why Lue insisted on starting him was a disservice to him.
Looks like Crowder and Korver are going to be a great tandem off the bench for the Jazz.
Jesus, Burks. That closeout was freaking terrible.
Great move to the hoop by Burks!
Burks the best Cav tonight. Everyone else looks demoralized.
Nate, look at your last two posts…for those of us not watching, the suggestion is A Tale of Two Burks… though I don’t need to be watching to know the rest of the Cavs are demoralized…
Well he was good till that closeout!
Feel like the Cavs offense had gotten too slow too deliberate. Gotta get intonit qucker and score more quickly. Also, this is the worst team at running a fast break i may have evwr seen.
Perimeter starters sucked…. Sexton, Cedi, and Hood were bad.
Listened to the end of the first half on the radio. That stretch into this is brutal.
Sorry i missed the early going, guys. Had a date with my girls in Akron.
The night to do it Nate, in so many ways. Nice one.
Enjoy the family time Nate… you’ve missed ugly basketball for the most part and Kyrie pantsing the Cavs.
Fun. Took my niece there last year.
No fast break on the TO there guys? If you can’t hustle at this point, hit the pine.
Rozier then shows how to do it.
That was ugly.
Time to sit the regulars for tomorrow.
Back to back??? Yikes.
What I hear on the feed is several thousand people typing on their phones.
Feel like Drew should’ve gone to the bench earlier in the quarter to try to break the rhythm.
Did I say ten? I meant twenty.
Sexton with a nice rhythm J… but then gets toasted by Kyrie on the ensuing possession.
So finally got a stream to work….kinds wish it hadn’t!
Yeah, you missed it…. bench played well in the beginning of the 2nd quarter… all downhill since then.
