Podcap: Pelicans 140, Cavs 124 (or, Too Many Blows)
2019-01-10The Cavs had a promising start to the start of their road trip in New Orleans, hitting all eight of their three point attempts as they threatened to run the Pelicans off the floor in the first quarter. It was almost a carbon copy of what the Pacers did the night before in Cleveland to the Cavs. Unfortunately, the tired legs, lack of front court depth, relentless running attack of the birds, and the heavy breathing of the dudes holding the whistles did them in for the remaining three quarters. It gets tiring making nearly 70 trips to the line in one game after all…
Nate and EG whistled their way into the booth to discuss this latest loss, the positive things that might be gleaned from it going forward, and why it seems like Cavs games are so poorly officiated this year. We take a deeper dive into the whole McCaw situation, contemplate the complicated legacy of Dan Gilbert, examine the hazards of tanking under the new lottery rules, and much, much more. Stick around for the end since Nate finally finished Bird Box.

FWIW, shooting splits for Cavs this year, current only. Burks has been hot lately from deep, almost to 40%.

We have guys who can shoot 3s but not 2s, and guys who can shhot 2s but not 3s.
Nice to see Celtics getting boat raced by Heat at the half. Hope they can keep it up. Nice half for Winslow.
In terms of Amico, we do not have to trade JR at all. Certainly not now, and not even over the summer. Worst case is we cut him and eat the $3.4 million. It would suck not to get an asset, but an asset that takes up a roster spot (or two) for next year & you know you don’t want also prevents another player’s development next year.
If we get a deal we like, do it. If not, hold off. Ditto on Burks & Hood.
There is next to zero chance we lose a pick. That is just GSW whining + clickbait.
Sucks on LNJ. At least TT is back.
No on Melo/JR unless we get a first.
There is a chance we could actually be penalized and lose a first round pick??!!
Is there an organization more in need of a new owner than the Cavs?? This is guy is f@&%ing joke.
The Knicks are in the conversation…
TWolves. Knicks. Bulls. Suns. Wizards.

What’s up with Bird Box? Is it actually good? Didn’t seem like it would be anything special based off the previews.
Entertaining and taut. Probably 15 minutes too long but otherwise well made. The central premise requires some suspension of disbelief.
nothing to write home about
PRETTY SURE– (MELO /J.R. SWAP ) WOULD BE —-ALL ABOUT CREATING CAP SPACE —-HELL WHY NOT—MIGHT BE OUR BEST OPTION WITH J.R.
Melo makes min. JR makes $15 million. We would need picks + bad contracts to make the $$ work. Rockets do have their first.
Plus Melo will hog the ball here. I guess we could waive him.
Lastly, we are snuggling close to the luxury tax line. No way does DanG want to pay tax this year.
melo.. melo.. melo.. y, i can dig it at the Q
agree with amico.. it’s a lost year.. your at the craps table.. order a few neat jack daniels and throw some dice
AMICO HOOPS “ALL IN ” FOR TRADING J.R. FOR MELO—-THOUGHTS / OPINIONS ?
If it’s to get a draft pick and waive him, sure.
Treat Amico like Costanza. Do the opposite. 1st rounder, then yes.
140-124 in a January game.
This isn’t basketball.
We gave up 81 points in the second half. 2gob2b, but still.
Still, some bright spots. Good first quarter (20 minutes, really). Delly. Payne. Cedi. Clarkson’s (and his first half D).
Longo halftime wizardry…
He’s so good at making halftime adjustments…
