Live Thread: Cavs @ Pacers
2019-02-09The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing in the notoriously difficult arena (at least for them) Bankers Life Fieldhouse as they face off against the Indiana Pacers. The good news is that the Cavs saw Kevin Love return to the court, if only for six minutes. The bad news? The Pacers seem to be playing just fine in the face of losing Victor Oladipo for the season. Love will presumably still be on significantly restricted minutes as he works himself back into shape, but it was still good to see the forward back on the hardwood and looking energetic.
Still, I don’t expect much from the Cavs tonight. For whatever reason, Bankers Life Fieldhouse always represents a significant challenge to the Wine and Gold. Combine that with limited minutes for Love, a rolling Pacers team that just put down the Lakers by a whopping 42 points, and the second night of a back to back and you have a recipe for a b-ball beating. Still, the Cavs have been showing fight on the back ends this season so hopefully it won’t be too bad. As always, Go Cavs!
Celtics outscored 75-44 after KI hurt.
Tatum be a star…..or not.
what does austin carr often say about pressure? wheels coming a little loose on the celtics wagon.. i am an equal opportunity curmudgeon.. very pleased to read about that dazed and confused communication breakdown..
Potentially big doings in Boston.
Kyrie out with a knee strain/sprain. Do not know if serious. Looked non-contact though.
After he went out, they blew a huge lead at home to the Clips.
If he is out for a bit, if they fare poorly without him, Tatum/Brown/ Smart lose value. Plus if they bow out early, he may be less inclined to stay.
That team is low key trash without Irving. Up by 20 or so early, and lose going away the last couple of minutes. /point /s haha
Same with Milwaukee and Giannis, though they are a better team than Boston. Bucks lose by 20 without Giannis at home to Orlando. They remind me so much of the cavs 1.0 teams. More talented perhaps, but still utterly and completely revolving around one guy on the offensive end. Still their offense does maximize the talent of their personnel when Giannis does play. But man feel like he cannot be out for them to have a chance against all but the absolute dregs of the league.
as amico just wrote.. pacers play like team.. a well-oiled, disciplined machine.. their passing was very satisfying to watch this evening.. other than olidipo, i don’t think i could have named a single player without some real effort.. there is a lesson in there somewhere.. but hard to achieve with most of the pampered prima donnas that inhabit pro sports.. i think the cavs are trying to get there, post-lbj v2.. we shall see.. fans in indy are very lucky..
They have a lot of good players though.
Sexton turns a 3 on 2 break onto an airballed 20 footer. I hate that crap. Run the wing. Get a layup. Barf.
I really do not understand how Longabardi still has a job.
If he is a good coach, we have some if the dumbest/laziest players ever.
EG has a lot of pull with the Cavs, and he’s an EG fav…
Hahahhha
Cavs are so bad on D they make Bogdanavic look nimble.
GUYS SHOOSH, LONGABARDIN IS TALKING
Nice play from Delly to end the half. A 3 and oop to LNJ. Down 12.
Oh jeez Delly that was awful
Indy runs good offense constantly. Very few aimless possessions. Coupled with good D.
Ugly sequence from Sexton there
Sexton almost always shoots the possession after he scores.
“KNIGHT RIDER ” ON FIRE : )
Awful D there. Chriss out to lunch on Leaf.
If we miss out on Zion and fall down a bit (say 5th-7th) I would not mind just taking a competent high floor guy. Johnson from Kentucky or Hunter from Virginia.
Not super enamored with Reddish or Barrett. Scorers that cannot shoot well from 3 or the FT line give me the willies.
What if Morant is there?
I think he’s a guy you take.
Me too. But suspect he probably goes top 3.
Confidence boosting stuff for Knight
Knight with another 3.
Zixic took a real shot there
Knight hits a 3.
NY has lost 15 in a row. They have us twice and Phoenix (losers of 13 straight) would be #26.
Too early to talk about 26?
Knight in.
very nice ball movement.. uncle buck is watching live.. 1st time this year.. whats the thing you guys say? oh yes.. go cavs
Chriss is the 17th different Cav to start a game this year.
BUCK– AGREE ——DURING ALL THESE “AUDITIONS ” I AM KEEPING A VERY OPEN MIND ——THROW THE PAST AWAY——WHAT CAN YOU DO / WHAT TYPE OF PLAYER ARE YOU NOW / WHAT TYPE OF PLAYER / POTENTIAL DO YOU HAVE TO GROW / BECOME —-CAVS HOPEFULLY HAVE THE SAME MINDSET ——-PLAY THEM / EVALUATE THEM / DECIDE ON THEM ——–YOU MIGHT ‘DISCOVER ‘ SOMETHING —-WORTH THE GAMBLE
Don’t know what I was on about the Big Z rule & Burks. Put my head in the Larry Coons CBAFAQ and found nothing similar with regards to FAs after trades (if not waived).
It resets when free agency starts.
RAPTORS PICK UP MCLEMORE ——MIGHT HELP THEM SOME——-BEASLEY WAIVED BY CLIPPERS —ANY TEAM GOING TO PICK HIM UP—-OR IS HIS NBA CAREER PRETTY MUCH OVER/ BACK TO CHINA YOU GO
Someone could grab him. He’s a takented scorer. Houston could use him. Probably won’t cuz Below tax.
He can score but the knucklehead factor is high. And he is not much of a 3PT guy so Mike D would likely hate him.
Portland? Toronto? Maybe an East bubble team?
perhaps chriss recognizes that this is the last stop before hoops oblivion.. i am assuming this is a kid who always had the talent to play and compete without working.. well.. on this level, that really doesn’t work, with anyone.. say what you want about the drama associated with bron.. but that body doesn’t just happen.. the man works, hard.. perhaps harder than anyone ever has.. chriss is still a youngster, he appears to have the body to compete.. now he just needs to develop a work ethic..will he? no idea.. but he has millions$$ to motivate him.. if he… Read more »
Yeah, if he cannot read that “last chance saloon” sign blazing in front of the Q, then he is done. He has to show something or he is out. Hope it lights a fire.
IS TO”KNIGHT ” GOING TO BE HIS DEBUT AS A CAV ?
NATE I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I REPLAYED THE “BORGAN ‘ VIDEO FOR MY GRANDKIDS —THEY HAVE THE MOVES DOWN PERFECT/ GREAT JOB OF “ASSISTING ” ME –” PAPA-SITTING ‘ TODAY —MUCH APPRECIATED —–NORMALLY TAKES “MUCHO ADULT BEVERAGES ‘ TO GET THRU A DAY WITH THE GRANDKIDS : )
Lol
FWIW, here is Amico referencing the fact that a traded (and then waived) player cannot re-sign with the old team for a year (Big Z rule). In regards to the Clips waiving Beasley.
http://amicohoops.net/clippers-waive-journeyman-forward-beasley/
Of course, Burks ain’t getting waived. So different situation. Have not been able to find chapter & verse on this.
This is gonna be a tough one. 2nb2b. No Love. No TT. No Cedi? And two starters just got traded. Ouch. Plus Indy plays D. We could really struggle to score.
