Live Thread: Cavs vs. Suns (#TankYouVeryMuch)
2019-02-21The All Star Break is over, so what’s the best way to start the home stretch? How about another tank battle against one of the two teams that’s worse than you in the standings? Actually, maybe that’s the worst way… I’m not sure, the new Draft Lottery rules require too much math these days.
Regardless, the Cavs host the Phoenix Suns tonight at the Q… owners of the current longest losing streak in the League (15 games and counting), now that the Knicks finally won going into the break. The Suns don’t lack for promising young talent, with number one overall pick DeAndre Ayton and rising star Devin Booker in the fold. Yet, they’re still a long way (or at least one or two more high draft picks) away from being able (or wanting) to win too many games just yet.
Meanwhile, the Cavs, coming off maybe their most entertaining game of the year (a 148-139 triple overtime thrilling loss to the Nets) just before the break, are also close to full strength for the stretch run. Kevin Love should be back for good along with Cedi Osman, and Tristan Thompson shouldn’t be too far behind. That leaves newcomer John Henson as the only staple of the oft used injured list for the time being. The Cavs should be poised, given their recent play, to notch a few more victories over the next few weeks… but, hopefully not too many?
Prediction: The Suns might blaze early, but expect them to set just in time for the Cavs to roll over them in this potentially entertaining tank battle… 124-119.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm EST on FSO, and as always… take your best shots below…
LA with a lead. 4 minutes left.
LA down 13 again. LBJ has to be more assertive & score more with this group.
I don’t care if Ingram gets some big empty points in 20 point losses in January…he stinks. I’d consider Ball a much better trade piece than Ingram, and I’m not exactly a Lonzo fan.
lol @ Harden dropping a stepback 3 in LBJ’s face…. Houston up double digits at Staples.
why don’t the gazillionaires in hoops create/demand a “custom shop” (re fender and gibson) that produce pro quality gear? or was this a “pro” model? glad nike doesn’t manufacture airplanes..
is zion now “damaged” goods?
I can’t believe how bad Josh Jackson is. Like…he’s not good at anything. I liked him coming out of Kansas too.
This team lacks an A-1 superstar. But Love is a legit all-star level guy (if not a starter) who draws the D in & makes it easier for the other guys.
And those other guys have their limitations, but an awful lot of them a functional/useful NBA players: LNJ, TT, Delly, Nwaba, JC. Knight was before he got hurt. Cedi is close right now. Sexton & Zizic showing real promise. Chriss even with flashes.
in other words, a decent, average nba team.. which is light years ahead of where they were 3 months ago.. add in a few good 1st’s next year, and you have a pretty good product for the next 3-5 yrs.. and probably able to get to playoffs with a year or 2..
Agreed. And I’m impressed the Cavs managed to convince YOU of that after how you felt about them early.
And I respect that you are willing to change your mind after seeing some of their heart and growth.
i calls em as i sees em.. very pleased the ship has righted itself.. i am a cleve boy born and bred
koby has made great moves, and cavsdan signs the checks.. they just need some luck on the lottery pick, and some smarts (and luck) on the rocket’s 1st
tatum hardly looking like the “future”, nor the core of blockbustr trade for the brow.. call me crazy.. i’d rather have kuzma
credit where credit is due.. tatum looking better with celtics up 91-90
You aren’t crazy. Tatum is more consistent, and a better defender. But Kuzma has nights where he looks like a world beater. Tatum does not.
Of course, which is more likely? Tatum raises his level (and thus is at/near AS level) or Kuzma produces consistently at/near his breakout levels?
WOW… that’s an ugly Bucks/Celtics box score… Kyrie crapping the bed too.
Both those teams can play really stiffling D.
true.
one of the best euphemisms, although i tend to use the “sh!tting” the bed form..
Cedi: 19/5/5 on 7/12 & 5/8. 1 TO. +14.
LNJ: 14/7/3 + 4 steals. 7/9 FG. 2 TO. +9.
Love: 16/11/1. 4 TO. 6/13 & 3/8. +11.
Zizic: 15/12/1 on 7/9. +3.
JC: 15/4/5 on 5/12. +2.
Delly: 2/4/11. +7.
Knight: 9/3/4. +7.
Sexton: 8/2/2. +10.
Nwaba: 7/2/2. +6.
If Ayton had Delly feeding him, he’d probably look like an All-NBA player LMAOOO
Another nice game by Ante too…
He’s a keeper IMO… young bench big who can spot start against size. He just turned 22!
Agreed. He played some good D tonight.
Just getting home. Shades of what a healthy Cavs could have done. I realize Phoenix is awful, but 33 assists is some good ball.
Great game Cavs!!!
WOW DELLY WITH 11 ASSISTS –CAVS WITH 34/ HAS TO BE A SEASON HIGH—WILL WATCH REPLAY TONIGHT AND ENJOY !!——TANK YOU FOR THE TANK JOB PHOENIX !!
Really good all-around game with lots of contributions.
Much better than Rising Stars Cedi… lol
Booker has 30… but his team is going to lose by 15…
It is fun to watch a competant nba team again
33 dimes. Season high. 34. 11 Delly dimes.
Zizic with the jumper!!!
