Cavaliers Unsure About Number One Pick
2011-06-16Eight days before the NBA draft, Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott told Yahoo! Sports the franchise isn’t close to deciding whether to use the No. 1 pick on Duke guard Kyrie Irving or Arizona forward Derrick Williams.
This is either typical pre-draft waffling or Byron’s bluffing. If the Cavs don’t take Irving with the number one pick, and it has nothing to do with his health, I’ll need to buy a new television because there will be a remote lodged in it.
When you’re in the position the Cavs are in, you NEVER, EVER draft by need. You take the best player available, and that is Irving.
JOESKI, I dont think anyone expects to be a contender next year which is why we should take Irving 1st in this draft. Next years draft is loooaaaded with sf’s. If you draft this way you come away in two years with the best pg prospect out of these two drafts, and one of the best sf’s. There are many sf’f in the next draft that are better than Williams. I do agree on taking Kanter at #4 tho.
Should draft Williams first, then draft Kantner next, then we still have 2 more second round picks, pick up a servicable guard with one of those picks, this way you solidify two weak positions on there roster, Also you would have a true center, and allow the team to use Varejo off the bench for the energy that he brings to the table. Any thoughts out there about this thinking??
