Live Thread: Cavs vs Knicks 2019-02-28 Off By Nate Smith Short and sweet LT here. Cavs mostly healthy… Knicks mostly healthy. Both teams have been inexplicably winning. Something’s got to give. Go Cavs. Recap: Portland 123, Cleveland 110 (or, Fun While it Lasted) From Distance: Heir to the Throne?
This song was so good that at the time people thought “The Knickerbockers” were actually the Beatles.
Really sorry about the lack of a recap today, guys
It
Don’t worry about it.
Bledsoe capitalized on his contract year, looks like. Bucks also pick up Pau Gasol, who the Spurs bought out.

That team is going to be hamstrung financially after this offseason. Middleton has a player option of 13 million. He will no doubt decline. Going to cost to keep him. Mirotic and Lopez are both UFAs and both will likely get some decent money (8-10 mil a year) after this year. Brogdon is RFA but that guy has made himself some money. I could see a team offering him 10-15 million a year.
Jazz vs Nuggets has been ana amazing game. Donovan Mitchell is legit Dwayne Wade for 2019 (on offense). Not sure if thats a great comparison but I cant think of a closer one
After these next 2, we get road heavy.
After that, the final 11 are pretty tough schedule wise.
harden with 58..
18 for 18 on ft..
Watching Sexton and Cedi develop this year has been more fun than winning 47 games while enduring the LBJ circus. Love LBJ forever, but really think we are better positioned for future. LBJ + Love core not getting through the east this year.
Nate wrote eloquently last year about enjoying the process of improvement. That is starting to shine through now.
Go Cavs !
Totally agree! We used to expect wins and be pissed and disappointed when we lost.
Now we get to get really excited when we win. On top of that, in both wins and losses it is exciting seeing guys like Sexton, LNJ, and Cedi turn into a bright future right in front of our eyes. So ygrilled with their development, not to mention the great things from Delly and Nwaba, and also getting to see Kevin Love come back and be THE Kevin Love we knew he was again.
Man of the match?
Love: 26/8/3. +17. 6/12, 3/6 3s.
Cedi: 21/7/5. +5. 7/10, 3/4 3s.
Sexton: 22/3/3. +5. 7/15, 2/6 3s.
JC: 22/2/1. +4. 7/13. 3/8 3s.

Outside of the overall non statistical benefit that Love brings the whole team, it’s really cool that someone could argue any one of those 4 guys deserves the game ball.
wiggins 11pts in 38m.. we so won that trade.. attytude is an important intangible..
He’s also, like……not good.
au contraire.. he’s a SUPA-max
so very glad the cavs are not carrying that max disaster on the books..love is a gift that keeps on giving..
he makes TT contract look like a bargain
I would have to agree.
Yes intangible, there aren’t any metrics to go by. It’s core to the player’s potential, but the only way to assess it is to know the person (and the observer’s attitude/intelligence is just as important). I’d like to think that the Cavs recruiting people looked at attitude this last year more carefully given previous busts, and landed on Sexton for a reason. He’s many flaws, but I’m enjoying the fact that he appears to be progressing, like Cedi.
“DITTO ” WHAT BUCK SAID —-NICE !!
we on the same wavelength nomad.. i see you as a slim pickens type of dude.. not sure why.. but i bet you ride good nuke
Fun to see Cavs being gritty down the stretch and the Knicks are horrible.
Why isnt that a shot and the ball for an offball foul??
Should have been. Last 2 minutes.
The Acosta crew is one of the worst in the league (Foster, Bruthers).
Thanks. I really wanted to know if i missed something. Someone was telling me they thought it was because it wasn’t intentional, but i didn’t think that mattered with the new rule
I was wondering about this too. Refs were terrible in this one.
To be fair, I did some research and I believe I was wrong. For that rule to trigger the foul has to be “away from the play” and not merely “off ball”. Seeing as Sexton has right next to Love in the backcourt and could very well have been maneuvering to receive a hand off or pass from Love to advance the ball forward, then I see why it was deemed a normal foul. I still could argue that it was a take foul against a young inexperienced rookie instead of Love who didn’t miss a free throw all night… Read more »
Ton son lineup lighting it up!
A five-point possession courtesy of Sexton
4 players over 20.. nice
Captain bandaid!!!
Clear path! JC 2/2.
Nice interception by JC. Nice 3 from Cedi.
Good fighback.
Go through Love or Cedi (if Smith is on him).
Clear path, baby!
Oy, cedi.
Cedi and jc! Full court give and go! For an Osman triple,
Great o board, Sexton.
Sexton wants to win this for sure
Youngbull! Nice behind the back. Lucky bounce to get it to drop.
YB in transition. With the around the world dribble & finish.
Sexton and Sexton
Sexton just outran the whole Knicks squuad
Well, a loss is excellent for the tank.
Defensive execution not good.
The Cedi blocking call was particularly egregious.
Yeah. I really don’t get it.
Sexton just has crazy quickness. Can’t wait until he learns how to consistently use his body and utilize change in speed.
Argh. Four point miss, Kev.
I hate when Love misses easy bunnies.
Flagrant 1,and a BS blocking foul and the Knicks got zero points.
Again
Are you serious with that blocking foul?
Another example of terrible NBA officiating. Even with a chance to look at it first.
Im so sick of big market officiating bias.
Oy. Something happened on that collision to cause Larry to push.
Ball don’t lie!
haha!
