No Cavs game tonight… but a rare colorful treat awaits you anyway with this latest podcast. Tom Pestak returns to spin yarns about the trials and travails of his recent move, his water battles with his new city and the benefits of owning a table saw and lots of white paneling.
Nate and EG joined the Prodigal Pestak Podsmith in the booth to help catch Tom up on what’s been happening with the Cavs and around the Association. We touch on the two most prominent former Cavs, cover their respective currently ugly situations (but still not as ugly as the pictured sweater), and debate the playoff scenarios as we hit the home stretch of the regular season. Don’t forget to stick around for Tom’s latest string of epic domestic sagas… as well as our journey down the Lids.com rabbit hole of cheap hats and ugly bluetooth apparel…
Also, as an added bonus… check out the just finally released Season of Huh? collection of essays documenting the 2013-14 Cavaliers… featuring contributions by Tom and Emeritus C:tB Editor, Robert Attenweiler. You can check it out here.
As always, check us out above, on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts or Google Play.
What do people think the chances are the Cavs could pull Messina away from SA if Pop doesn’t retire?
Credit the Urban Dictionary for educating me on some terminology used in this podcast. My fingers hovering over the keyboard before typing it in “Do I really want to know?”
Lol. Sorry?
Well, I wasn’t eating lunch at the time or anything like that, so it was fine. Truth be told, the more disgusting, the better with me.
Tom- you need to change out those toilets faster than you’d ship IT to China.
Wins against elite teams mean more than losses against bad teams. Who cares the buck lossed to the suns when they have beat Toronto three times and have arguably the best record against elite teams out of any of the contenders. The bucks fit so well together. They all know their roles and the offense and defense. Plus they are one of the best defenses in the league.
Of course if they have a cold shooting series against Toronto they could have issues. But still, their d could offset that.
Except when their flaws get exposed by bad teams who can shoot…
They give up threes based on their p and r scheme. But overall their d has been the most solid and consistent out of any of the elite teams and has been solid against good competition.
Luke Walton is not the coach people thought he was. You guys could have coached that warriors team and did as well as Walton did. The players on that 73 win team knew that offense, defense, and their roles inside and out. They blew so many people out they rarely had to deal with close pressure packed games. According to lakers blogs, Walton is not creative offensively and has nonsensical rotations. These critiques from silver screen and roll blog date back to last season. I think maybe the warriors made him look better than he is.
I have no strong opinions about Walton either way. The Lakers main problem is the team doesn’t make much sense, and they just aren’t that good. I don’t think it would matter much who their coach is.
Sure. I mean he is young. So maybe he has potential. But reading Lakers blogs has made me wary of him as far as a Cavs candidate.
Eh. Garbage squad with a massive confluence of egos to manage. He seems like a fine coach in a no win situation. #Herculoids4Life
Maybe. I am looking primarily at the fact that the same issues he has this year apparently were there last year. Not sure how much of a tactical coach he is based off reading silver screen and rolls review of him last year. Of course tactical is maybe not the most important thing for a team like the Cavs at the current moment.
Fight black bears, it’s up to grizzly if it wants to kill you or not. There are black bears in Ohio.
I feel good armed with this knowledge.
Alex Honnold is a man among boys. I rock climb for fun and have watched him through this career. His mental game is something all athletes should aspire to. The planning and repetition to get to his free solos is ridiculous. He knows every move needed to get to the top. And removes that fear or embraces it, maybe falling is how he wants to die. Quick, free death.
I had sweaty palms watching Free Solo. The audience applauded at the end.
DOES IT SAY “DRAINO ” ON THE BACK——-I WOULDN’T EVEN LET MY DOG SLEEP ON IT IF ONE WAS GIVEN TO ME
Nate, my co-worker just bought an Isaiah Thomas Cavs jersey on clearance lol
It should have been free. What a toxic presence…Nuggets fans are already done with him. He’s going to have to ride the Brinks truck to China next year.
Come for the basketball talk, stay for the Pestak toilet stories.
Players. Only. Baby.
If we fail to beat the Nets & the Suns defeat NY in Phoenix, the Suns are within 1 of us.
I have never been a Boogie fan, I think he’s one of the most overrated players in the NBA, and I know he’s coming off an Achilles injury, but this is brutal.

Yeah I never understood the Boogie hype.
A lot of empty numbers on losing teams. Poor defender before the Achilles tear.
He is like the C version of Melo from 2-3 years ago. On a team where he is the offensive focal point, he still makes some sense. But as a third/fourth option, his liabilities on D wipe out his O with limited touches.
Some team is going to sign him to a massive contract this summer and set back their franchise for a half-decade.
I hope it’s the Lakers. Think of Lebron and Boogie, Magic….you have to do it…showtime 2.0…
I literally called this problem at the all star break. He is ruining their normal flow. They may figure it out by playoff time a little better but they are not a lock to win the title. They dont have enough depth to stomp teams
Called it when they signed him. Sort of doubted it when he had some good games coming back, but he just makes no sense for them schematically on offense or defense. They need mobility and guys that can move on both ends.
Thoroughly enjoyed the podcast -Tom’s upper decker, warm tub, and GameStop stories were hilarious!
thanks Vintage!
Haven’t listened yet, but who can resist table saw talk?
