2019-03-16SOOOOOO annoying. No Luka tonight. Instead we get the guy the Cavs should’ve drafted with pick they wasted taking on Jordan Clarkson’s contract, Jalen Brunson. Brunson has made the Mavs’ decision to move on from Dennis Smith Jr. look smart as Jalen’s averaged a cool 16/4/4 in 31 minutes a night on superb 64 TS%. Yes, you can get a good player when you draft past the lottery.
Meanwhile, the Mavs have lost a tanktastic 12 of their last 13. I look for the Mavs to be a possible destination for Tristan Thompson this summer as he’d be a solid pairing with Luka and the Zinger. Speaking of TT, he might return tonight along with Larry Nance. As for the rest of the Cavs, I think everyone is healthy. Hopefully we get a better night than we got against the Magic. Early prediction? Carlisle out-tanks the Cavs and Cleveland wins 115-105.
So for anyone that’s a fan of moral victories… The NBAs L2M Report acknowledged several incorrect calls last night. Some went either way and balanced out, but notably the Mavs should’ve been charged with an offensive foul with about 5 seconds left to give the Cavs a chance to tie. Now I tend to fall in the camp of disliking the L2Ms, specifically because I think they are often biased to come up with excuses to support bad calls and also because they ignore the other 46 minutes of the game.
