Lakers Reportedly Interested in Anderson Varejao
2011-06-22Brown coached Varejao during all five of Brown’s seasons in Cleveland, and not surprisingly, grew to love Varejao’s defense, energy and attitude. Now that Brown has been hired as Phil Jackson’s replacement with the Lakers, sources say he is trying to convince the Lakers front office to see what it would take to bring Varejao to L.A.
As much as I hate to say it, Joey is right. This team shouldn’t be trying to get back into contention overnight. Best case scenario is we end up as a 6 seed for a 5 year stretch. Yuck. Build up the team the right way. Gather a top 5 pick again next year, and the next one as well. Amass as much young talent as you can until you finally find that one who can be the superstar that you need.
You HAVE to have some high character guys on your team when you have a team full of young people, to help them learn how to be professional. Minnesota doesn’t, and they had one of the worst locker rooms in the league last year. If we didn’t last year, we never would have sniffed respectability after that losing streak. To me, the only untouchable guys on the team are Andy and Boobie for that exact reason. They’re the heart and soul of the team.
Andy should definitely be on the market imo.
I said it before, by the time we are competitive enough to need a talent like Varejao’s, he will be off his prime.
I don’t see anything on the Lakers’ roster that intrigues me(other than Kobe and Bynum) but if we are talking Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo or Monta Ellis(packaged with the tpe), then go for it.
Lol, the guy at http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6685360/grantland-nba-draft-lottery-preview says “Again, the best player on this team, and the only decent guy under the age of 30, is Hickson.” Really? Do people forget about Andy this easily?
Varejao for Farmar, Vujajic, and a first rounder…. oh wait
I would consider sending Andy to LA for all 4 of their 2nd round picks this year, Derrick Caracter, and a promise that Shannon Brown will never again wear a Cavs jersey.
Maybe this means the Lakers are going to try and trade Pau or Bynum for the #2 pick. Either way, I don’t see how they can give us anyone we would want. Bunch of bad contracts and overpriced veterans. No young talent (besides bynum), no 1st round draft picks. I’ll pass.
What would the lakers realistically offer? I know Bynum and Pau seem to be on the block? They don’t have any picks that we’ll likely want, maybe next years first rounder and second rounder + shannon Brown? I’m just reaching here. Barnes, Artest, Fish, wouldn’t be of interst to us. Maybe some kind of three team trade that helps us get Minny’s pick or Utahs? The Lakers have a ton of assets with Kobe being the only thing that’s untouchable, so I could see some kind of deal being made. Guess there’s even more to wait and see.
kobe for varejao lol
Well, good luck, because the Lakers have NOTHING we want.
