Cavs Attempting to Add Third Lottery Selection
2011-06-23The Cleveland Cavaliers have the No. 1 and No. 4 picks in the draft. But will they also snag another lottery pick?
Sources say the Cavs have been very actively trying to do just that, with a massive $14.5 million trade exception as the device. The offer? Give us your pick and we’ll take back a bad contract into our trade exception, which permits the Cavs to take back salary of more than $14 million.

But he’s a defensive oriented PF who doesn’t shoot well. I’d much rather get Burks, Brooks, or Klay Thompson if we’re getting a third lottery pick. Also, depending on if we use the exception to take back a bad contract, don’t count on Jamison being around next year. I’m more hoping we take a pure shooter like Klay Thompson in the early teens. Not sure what TT would give us, as we’re already loaded at PF.
I’ve seen an obscene amount of trade scenerios though:
– Sessions for New York’s pick.
– #4 for Bobcats or Wizard’s two first rounders
– Trade exception for any number of picks.
Will be an interesting night for sure.
From what else I’ve read today, it’s possible that we pick him, and flip him to Charlotte. It really is obscene how many options Chris Grant has here. I hope he’s done his homework, because he could lay a solid, solid foundation tonight.
