Live Thread: Cavs @ Pistons
2020-01-27The NBA’s heart is heavy tonight as teams prepare to play in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s tragic death, Sunday. The Cavs and Pistons plan on taking 24 and 8 second violations at the start of the game to honor Bryant. As has been noted, by @AmNotEvan, it would be nice to let Bryant teammate Larry Nance start the game to take one of these violations.
In the good news department, Kevin Porter Junior will return to the court tonight for Cleveland and will be reportedly eased back into the rotation. Brandon (knee) and Ante (Plumleed) are both out indefinitely (though Knight’s return seems closer). For the Pistons, Derrick Rose (knee) is probable, Tony Snell (illness) is questionable, and Khyri Thomas are out. Of course Blake is out for the year, and Luke Kennard is out till after the all star break.
The Pistons have won four of their last 10, but have lost some stinkers. This is a winnable game for Cleveland. Let’s hope we see some fire in the Cavs’ bellies, and that both teams play with a healthy measure of Kobe’s competitiveness.
Wish I caught this game, looks like one of the best defensive performances of the year thanks to the bench. KPJ with 3 steals and a block in only 16 minutes!!! WOW! Every 2nd unit bench player had at least 1 block and 1 steal!
Me not watching must be good luck!
Having your best player ignored in the 3rd after a hot first half is a testament to our awful coaching & PG play.
Not sure he was ignored, I barely remember him being out there. If you told me he didn’t play in the 3rd, I’d totally believe it.
He was out there. Not sure how much he was in the fourth.
Not at all.
You made my point.
Though I must say, we did play well in the 3rd.
No. Detroit was not running. Cavs were smashing them in breakouts. Kev was getting rebounds and throwing touchdown passes.
Some small things I noticed. Cedi missed another boxout directly leading to a layup putback. Sexton passed some, but seemingly more due to being forced to on several occasions in order to try to avoid getting stuffed. Had some bad tovs. Still loses people off ball on d. Gave up at least one wide ooen trey to galloway. Love was not involved in the third qtr at all despite having the hot hand. KPJ had some nice finishes but needs to cut the step backs out completely. Threw up at least two terrible stepbacks. He is awful at that shot… Read more »
Sexton tries to pass, but too often they are just nothing passes, don’t lead to any positive offense…he had a few nice looks tonight, just doesn’t really do much pick and roll action with a purpose…
Fun game. But also, that was the worst team/effort we’ve seen from an opponent all season.
Yeah pistons d was atrocious.
