Live Thread: Knicks at Cavs
2020-02-03The Knicks are in town looking to extend their one game win streak against the Cavs. New York pulled off an upset against the Pacers on Saturday.
The Cavs are coming off a terrible showing against the Warriors where they somehow forgot how to play basketball and lost by 19.
Kevin Porter Jr. had a solid outing though and put up 19. Kevin Love had 14 points and 11 boards, while Colin Sexton posted his fourth straight game with at least 23 points. Nonetheless, the Warriors cruised to an easy victory hitting 18 3s and getting 39 assists.
At a certain point in the season, the stats of individual players stop mattering. The Cavs may have hit that point, so let’s hope they can grab a win tonight and get one of the stats that leads to a Championship. Or, in this case reminds a fan base they are really a professional team in the NBA.
Up 10 with 5 min left and barely hung on for OT. The glass hurt us tonight. Still, some semi-encouraging signs. Love with, what, 33/13/6? LNJ with a nice game. Sexy with 29 & 7 dimes. Only Cedi with the TO bug.
D & coaching leave a lot to be desired. Good for the ping pong balls. Dubs won again. Looks like we are the worst team in the league at the moment.
What happened to the Fonz? 10 day expire and we haven’t signed him rest of season?
What I think is happening is that the Cavs are leaving two roster spots open to help other teams make imbalanced trades for small assets. For example, if Boston wanted to trade three small salaries to Houston for Capela, Houston wouldn’t have the roster spots to do 3 for 1 without releasing 2 of their own players first, which would mean they’d have to pay the remainder of their salaries also. Bad D. Morris hits some shots down the stretch, but both teams were scoring easily until Cavs didn’t (Knicks finally decided to play some D).

God this Cavs team is utterly depressing
The Cavs also continue to play these close games with their young guards hopefully learning what to do and not do. Garland didn’t need to hoist that so soon. Maybe Beilein learns to change matchups when a guy is getting torched. Morris obviously was playing for a trade deadline escape from NYK exile–Nance would have been a better face guard, maybe.

Well, that was entertaining at least… glad to see some fight, keep TT on the bench and give Zizic the 4th big minutes. At least the offense will go better I think.
