Live Thread: Cavs vs Hornets
2020-12-23Babies have been conceived and delivered since the Cavs last played meaningful basketball. Since then, a champion has been crowned, a draft has been held, players across the league have switched teams, and James Harden has been to more strip clubs than their are NBA roster spots. It’s been a LOOONG nine months.
The Cavs look to run a lineup with newly minted starter Isaac Okoro, while the Cavs are missing Kevin Love, KPJ, Dante Exum, and Matthew Dellavedova. Bickerstaff won’t say who else will start, yet. But it’s safe to say that Drummond and Garland are locks. Who else starts between Sexton, Osman, and Nance Jr. probably won’t be revealed till tip-off.

To say I’m not thrilled about the prospect of Sexton starting over Osman would be an understatement, but that’s life, I guess.
Let’s hope the Cavs can defend on the perimeter and dominate inside. Should be a fun one.

But the Nets are gonna be really good in the regular season. How they operate after they get punched in the mouth, or hit a rough patch, will determine things. Along with KDs health. He is the most talented scorer of this generation (not Harden or Curry).
I am really enjoying watching the Dubs stink, again. More enjoyable with Curry out there. Though without Klay & Bray. Wiseman looks good.

nope, no shooting, and Kerr keeps making Steph play off ball which is extremely dumb because then you have Paschall wiggins and Oubre trying to make plays on the ball.
They stink. They’ll be better if Bray can come back and be good, but I don’t see them making the playoffs. Wiggins just is bad at basketball at the NBA level. And Oubre is okay, but no great shakes, either.

Yes Hornets stink and their defense has something to be desired but Cavs were getting themselves open looks and even made some tough shots.
The ball movement at times was really superb and the Cavs have some potential to make this season interesting.

The things I liked best from tonight:
1) Cavs moved the ball really well. 34 assists? All 5 starters with at least 4. LNJ had 8. After JB took over last year, our assist totals (and offensive efficiency) ticked up significantly. If this is a feature rather than random noise, we could challenge for a play-in spot.
2) LNJ’s all around play. Sexton’s efficiency (with 5 dimes). Garland’s improvement. Okoro looking legit. McGee’s debut. Cedi’s 3PT stroke.
Sucks Windler got hurt. Drummond is still a bonehead like 33% of the time. D has a long way to go.
holy crap what a game by the kids…. making winning plays!!!! McGee underrated pick up, dotson was a nice pickup too!!!
I have way more faith that Sexton continues to be efficient than Garland, especially since Garland got hot in garbage time, or what, do to both Garland and Sexton, should have been garbage time.
One other thing, I know he’s a rookie in his first game, but Ball was invisible. He was really bad, actually. He may turn out to be a future MVP (I doubt it), who knows, but I’m super happy with Okoro.

Just a wrist injury, nothing more than that…hope it’s a sprain at worst…he kind of landed on his wrist…
Impressive things about this win is:
