Live Thread: Play in Games/Off-season chatter
2021-05-20Hello CtB faithful!
Just wanted to keep the threads organized as per CtB tradition. Tonight we have the Pacers facing off against the Wizards, and the Grizzlies taking on the Warriors tomorrow night.
Hopefully we’ll see some great action as we all did last night, with two brilliant games. Tipoff for Pacers/Wizards is 8PM Eastern time tonight on TNT, and tipoff for Grizzlies/Warriors will be 9PM tomorrow night on ESPN.
Hell of game from the Suns. Really impressed by how they defended, especially on Lebron and AD. Ayton completely outplayed AD, both ends. Thought they’d be cooked when CP3 went out with the shoulder contusion, but Booker stepped it up. Even when CP3, clearly not 100%, came back, and the Lakers were giving Booker the Curry treatment, Booker made enough plays to win. Best game I’ve seen him play, due to the pressure of being a playoff game. Suns can win the series, imo, depending on what they can get from CP3. They really need him as a ball handler,… Read more »
Hey Mike, I should’ve told you earlier, started a separate open thread for playoff games! Switch up if you’d like!
Oops, thanks Chris, I didn’t know – thanks!
I was just thinking, Suns are looking good, as long as CP3 can stay healthy. And, right on schedule, he hurts his shoulder/ neck and has to go back to the lockerroom. No idea how serious, hope it’s trivial. It didn’t look like anything too violent as it happened.
Shoulder contusion, and he’s back in the game. Hope it’s no impact.
Blazers looking pretty good tonight…
Thinking this Blazers-Nuggets series might go 7. Nuggets just aren’t going to lock down the Blazer guards like some other teams might.
Hard to watch this Celtics-Nets game…just pretty much loathe both of these teams…
Luka with 30, still in 3rd qtr…this is why you don’t particularly want to play this team…
Patented Kawhi dunk on the break after the steal. The last guy I’d try to block at the rim in that situation.
Yup, agree with everything you said here Mike.
Game Bucks, tough shot by Butler is blocked by Jrue. Maybe the best game I’ve seen all year. Jrue is nails.
Oh my…after a wild scramble where it looked like the Heat weren’t going to get a good shot, and down by 3, Dragic gets the ball in the corner and drains the three to tie. Bucks come down and Middleton hits the tough midranger to go up by 2 with 0.5 seconds left.
Also good to see Dragic playing well, one of my favorite players.
Butler with the game tying shot at the buzzer. OT. And Giannis looking shaky at best at the foul line again, after looking somewhat better down the stretch of the season. He looks miserable every time he has to go to the line.
Heck of a game, I think the Bucks will win the series, but every game is likely to be this kind of dogfight…Jrue is a big addition…
Sorry I missed last night’s game, looks like it was fantastic one… Ja Morant with a performance for the ages.
He’s a problem for everyone. So good at getting in the pain and creating space for himself. Was also hitting the threes they were giving him last night. Story of the game (again) to me was GS’s carelessness with the ball. They looked like the Cavs this year on one of their TO heavy games.
at least the cavs didn’t get on the justice winslow bandwagon..
is b clarke injured ? why sitting ??
He had been. Don’t think he’s been 100% and theyre loaded in thw front court.
Dubs made the NBA happy. I almost felt sorry for Curry watching him playing with those guys. It was like watching Lebron play with those guys on the ’18 Cavs.
Spot on Mike. But sympathy….no way. I am satisfied now Curry knows what it feels like.
The excuses didn’t take long…

‘Fully healthy’. Okay. Klay is the only one that matters, and if he can come back like the old Klay, they could be a Finals contender. But it’s just Klay, not Oubre or Wiseman or any other detritus.
I meant to add, outside of Curry, there was absolutely no one on that team that I had confidence in scoring, no matter how open they were. And that includes Bray. Even on that last possession prior to OT, as the announcers noted, it looked like Bray was looking to pass the ball rather than score. He could have easily pulled up from about 8-10 feet and taken a wide open jumper for the game winner. If you’re an NBA player, you have to want to take that kind of shot. It should be almost automatic. I mean, even Drummond… Read more »
I think LeBron got them to the finals
Welp….Dubs done….

Half surprised Wiggins made that layup…Dubs with a chance to win…
Bray missed floater, OT incoming…

Great look for big v

So glad the Cavs aren’t paying Wiggins a ton of money right now…
Remember the all time hottest CtB debate: Trade Wiggins + doughboy for Love, or not? Gotta admit I was against the trade, mainly because I thought Love was injury prone, and Wiggins would be a star. HaHa: I was half right. But the trade was great. I don’t watch enough to know what the problem is with Wiggins. He seems to be a bit of a head case.
Yes. All the talent in the world…something upstairs amiss.
Should be a good 4th qtr…Grizz have made it tough for Curry, as they did last time they played, but W’s crawled back into it. They have been way, waaay too sloppy with the ball, though. If they can’t clean that up, they have no chance.
Omfug these calls
Number of uncontested threes is surprising

Trying to imagine playoffs without GSW
They are gonna get EVERY call in the second half.
The Aisha Rule
Morant! Having his way

Curry coming back in
This grizz game is pretty good so far.

Just made my donation!
same, thanks for setting it up Nate!
just did it as well, thanks for doing this! Had a blast being a part of the fantasy league and following the Cavs along with you all this year.

I doubt if Love can turn it on/off on demand. Also (speaking as a guy who played regularly for five decades), your skill level does not decline evenly. Rather, your good days become less good, and a lot less often.
Fair.
man the Eastern conference has not delivered any good games yet LMFAOOOO
Heard that Lakers/Warriors last night was the biggest draw for ESPN since the 2019 conference finals
Summer League is back!
I wonder if Windler could play, as he missed the entire “rookie” year. 3rd year of contract but only 1 year of play.
yeah, would imagine he will play, there was an update that he’s been working out pre-game recently.
I am starting to sour on Windler. Someone please talk me back into backing him. ESPN lists eighteen guys on their roster, and I am not sure right now who he beats out for spot #13.
That is a bad fall….
Wow, bounced right back up…
yeah, if you’re talking about the Rui fall, elbowed himself on the side on the way down LMFAO
Looks like Westbrook is going to have a pretty big game tonight…
It looked like a great game after one, but DC just turned on the afterburners.
I think Indy may be better a full strength. Beal ain’t 100%, but at least he is out there.
Celtics & Wiz are better than Indy & Charlotte, given who is and is not available (Lavert, Turner, Hayward).
yeah TJ Warren out all year, LeVert out…. that’s their wing/perimeter depth right there.
