Live Thread: Cavs @ Hornets

Tonight, the Cavs are in the Queen City to take on LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets. This game will be the third matchup of the season for these two teams, splitting the first two games. Charlotte is also desperate for wins trying to fend off surging Eastern Conference teams such as Atlanta and Boston for play-in position. The Cavs are desperate for their own wins to keep their name in the conversation for the playoffs and top seed in the East.
Unfortunately, Darius Garland has been ruled out with the back injury. Expecting the Cavs to win tonight is probably unrealistic. But if the Cavs can maintain the scrap and fight, that will give them a chance to win down the stretch, which is all you can ask for.
The game will be an interesting contrast of styles. The Hornets are an elite offensive team, the Cavs are an elite defensive team. The previous two games were really dictated by the Cavs’ ability to get clutch stops. The Cavs can score on the Hornets, but will they be able to buckle down the high flying circus that is LaMelo Ball and the Hornets’ offense? Tune in and find out…

I didn’t get to see the game tonight…can someone explain what happened…I read that they called the technical and Rozier missed the 3 but the refs counted the shot he didn’t make and gave him a technical FT…is this true or am I lost in translation?

Yep. If anyone who wasn’t watching live wants to see the most incompetent (to be charitable…if it’s not that, it’s fixing) call in NBA history, it’s in plain view right here. Rozier is credited with a three several seconds after a dead ball whistle, a three he *didn’t even make*, AFTER they spent several minutes in conference and review. And we are subjected to countless “was that a flagrant??” multi-minute reviews on run of the mill calls. This is completely unacceptable, and I don’t GAS if the refs said ‘my bad’ after the game. Pretty much. 3 full seconds into a dead ball situation, with play long stopped, Rozier takes a practice three and gets the ball slapped at by the Cavs bench. Should have been a bench tech at absolute most (if that…play had been stopped seconds prior), but refs somehow gave the Hornets three points and a FT for some incomprehensible reason. And now the ref crew wants to call this a ‘miscommunication’. Mind you, they conferenced together for a few minutes to make sure they got this ‘right’. And to top it off we just watched the horrible officiating against the ROX, which I won’t say was the reason for the loss, but just fed into the inconsistency and helter skelter play of that particular game.
I’m also surprised the refs gave KLove that foul call (in this game), because that never happens at end of games. I wonder if they got a call in from the league office about that ridiculous call they had made?

I mean the weird thing is even if head ref didn’t hear the whistle, how could he not notice all the players stop??
Their explanation is total BS.
All I ask is for this ref crew to cite the rule they were enforcing on that four point gift. They are professionals, should be a simple matter.
I mean they huddled and discussed it, they should have a rock solid defense of that call. I just want them to cite the rule. Very simple.
