Tonight the Cavs have ventured down Interstate 76 to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the surging Philadelphia 76ers in a massive Eastern Conference clash. The Cavs are now fighting for their playoff lives as the sixth seed and two games up on the 7th seeded Toronto Raptors. The Sixers are making a run at the top seed in the Eastern Conference thanks to the James Harden acquisition. The chips are stacked against the Cavs, but that’s exactly how they like it. Some quick thoughts headed into tonight’s action:

DG finding another gear

One of the most disappointing aspects of Darius Garland’s performance last game was the seven turnovers, which should’ve been converted into shot attempts given how hot DG’s shooting was that night (13-22 from the field). The next level of DG’s basketball maturity is finding that 40 or 50 point game with 30-35 shot attempts when the moment calls for it. Does Garland have a “scoring dawg” in him, willing his team on to victory on the offensive end? He’s capable of MVP statlines along the lines of James Harden or Steph Curry, tonight would be the perfect night to bring it out.

Tower City defense

The Cavs need its defensive leaders, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, to dominate the game for the Cavs to have a chance. Joel Embiid is having an MVP caliber season, this is the perfect opportunity for Tower City to continue to make a name for themselves league-wide.

J.B. Bickerstaff play Dean Wade Challenge

Seriously J.B., the harping on about defense, dawg, and grit, yet you don’t play one of the grittiest dawgs on the roster? What gives? Unfortunately, Dylan Windler’s out so that rant will have to wait for another day.

Tip off scheduled for 7:00PM ET and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
