Live Thread: Cavs @ Bulls
2022-03-12Good evening CtB!
Tonight is a doozy, with the Cavs arriving at the frigid shores of Lake Michigan to take on the Chicago Bulls in yet another massive Eastern Conference clash. Calling this game a big one is not just lip service or spin, with a win the Cavs pull to within a game of leapfrogging the Bulls in the playoff race. Additionally, the Cavs should be coming out with a focus after the drubbing they took in Miami at the hands of the Heat. These are precisely the games that have been missing from the Cavs’ oeuvre in the post-LeBron James era. Gaining experience in these types of battles is what the young Cavs need to get to the next level.
News, Notes, Stats
On the injury front, the Cavs are definitely without Caris LeVert and could be missing Lauri Markkanen due to some sort of ankle injury. The Bulls will be welcoming back Alex Caruso, one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, but will be missing Zach LaVine due to his persistent knee trouble. This will present an unusual challenge for the Cavs, in that Chicago normally tries to outscore their competition instead of grinding it out on the defensive end. Expect that to flip with the arrival of Caruso and the absence of LaVine.
The stats say this is a classic contrast of styles game (Chicago’s elite offense vs. Cleveland’s elite defense) as it was aforementioned, but again the injury situation may change that. Chicago is an elite shooting team, yet they create their looks more in matchup isolation situations with DeMar DeRozan and LaVine as opposed to whipping the ball around via the pass. Another strength vs. strength aspect of this game will be Chicago’s elite defensive rebounding vs. Cavs’ excellent offensive rebounding. The Cavs will have to lock it down in their one on one defensive matchups and take care of the ball on offense, something the Bulls do quite well.
Tip off is scheduled for 8:00PM ET and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
cap up!
the only players to post positive +- today were Ice and Mobley. I dont know how to process that. The eye test said they had polar opposite games. Mobley was extremely effective…Ice seemed largely inconsequential. Obviously this means Ice played his usual steller defense. cuz he only scored 6 points. Dwade and Ice mins tend to equal competitive basketball…they are freaking crazy good defenders. What would be nice is if JB had sets to get both of them shots. Obviously Ice doesn’t need set shots he needs passes while he is cutting. but Dean Wade shoots better than 35% from… Read more »
We are 3-8 in our last 11. 2-1 at home and 1-7 on the road..
8 out of our next 9 games are at home, so eventhough with limited offensive scorers playing, if we can win almost all it would be a great boost and much needed right now..
We know Nets will start creeping up and Raptors is right behind.
At this moment I’m scoreboard watching every East coast game with teams in the top 10.
we’re definitely not finishing ahead of the raptors and nets. both are getting healthy just as we are dropping like flies heading into the toughest part of our remaining schedule.
charlotte likely won’t catch us as their schedule is as brutal. atlanta’s schedule over the next 10 games is pretty easy. I wouldn’t be shocked if we finish 9 or 10 and charlotte is the other. There is zero reason to expect us to win most of our next 8 home games.
It’s actually crazy how detroit has become a more difficult win than the cavs over the last 10 games. I would usually count that as a win coming up but at the moment they are playing way better than we are. Even the easier games on our schedule have become question marks.
We are really missing JA and could definitely use Leverts offense right now…the injuries have just been brutal
Sneaking a win here would be nice. DG will have to do it all tho.
That Garland pass wowza.

Checking in….same performance as against the Heat? Ah well.
We may end up 9th or 10th by the end of this season.
No offense outside of DG and Mobley.Somebody else has to show up.
Heck if a finish, DG.
Just got done bowling. This looks like last night so far.
Cleveland need to end quarters better.
Bulls ended 1st on 6-0 run and with Cavs down 36-41 with 4 minutes left, bulls ended the quarter on a 12-6 run to go up 11.
Haven’t been able to stream the game as yet but thank God for Mobley scoring at least.
how is demar derozan somehow good now
Don’t know, think he was always solid.. this year he’s on another level I guess.. it just that the team is winning.
He killed us last time so we need to be better than giving up 17 pts to him in the first half.
Evan is 6-9 (67%) and everyone else is 11-39 (28%).. everyone else need to step up..
liking the numbers from Evan for ROY
Yup, thought wade was shooting well too last I checked
Ah yes correct, and surprisingly Rondo too
Cedi ,two open 3’s and nothing at end of quarter.Mobes is looking good though.
Cavs have no chance with DG being nonexistent as a scorer…
Man, ugly game and that was a blatant charge!
Sloppy game…
If this cavs group is to grow into a contender, JB probably needs to be our Mark Jackson. Mark Price can be our Steve Kerr.
DG 1-8 he’s struggling with all the extra attention
21-5 run in the last 6 minutes sigh.
Rondo -16 in 7 minutes lmfaoooooo
He ain’t bringing much…
This is not a laughing matter… very frustrating
Not sure why Brandon Goodwin disappears entirely when Rondo is available.
man this team is painful to watch without our players. frustrating.
Yup, we in the mud now
Kev’s shot is gone lately. Shouldn’t be tired legs
jfc play goodwin already
Yeah, no foul there, ref, you freaking hack…
everybody out for this game or is my connection not good?
Always fewer on Saturday nights…I’m only on occasionally tonight…
I have to stream on comp so on phone harder to type
Love starting for Lauri. could be a fun start if he and Dean Wade can get open looks early. but we’ll need 40 from Darius to compete in this one

Sigh, I blurted out “are you kidding me”.. injuries suck, especially for a time with limited iso shot makers 😞
