Live Thread: Cavs @ Warriors

It’s Friday night and the Cavs are in the Bay Area for a showdown with the Golden State Warriors to wrap up their California tour. The Cavs will look to break their first losing streak of the season, and it will be interesting to see how the team responds after Coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s tongue lashing 48 hours ago. Also it will be interesting to see if Coach himself has any changes he’ll make as the game goes along.
As for the Warriors, they are looking for a confidence-boosting win that defeating the Cavs would surely provide. Their young bench has been a disaster to start the season, and it’s sinking the whole team. The pressure is on both the young players to play better as well as the front office to make some moves to bolster the bench. Hopefully, the Cavs give them a proper beatdown.

We have our next 5 out of 7 at home with 2 at Milkwaukee.. need Cavs to win the next 6 out of 7 atleast..especially against the East.
“Need” is a strong word. But then again what are our expectations again? The one seed?
Well in my opinion, you win as many games as you can.. and winning games now when other teams are struggling base on missing key players helps to get an early leg in the standings.. we know how injuries derailed our season/wins late last year.

In the last 2 games (Clippers, Kings).. we had a 207 defensive rating
Garland at 31% fg and 22% 3pt
That doesn’t seem mathematically possible since o and d rating are based off 100 possesions. Something wonky going on there. We certainly didn’t get outscored by 166 pts per 100 possessions.
Actually all of the ratings are messed up right now. Go to a whole season segment and teams have o ratings of 144.

I think we again see the weakness of having a poor tactical coach. Close games. JB is a great culture builder but not a great ingame coach.
Walton was meant to supplement that skill set wasn’t he?
Was Walton a good tactical coach? No idea. Smart player. But not sure if a player with a high bball IQ automatically makes a tactician on the bench. Maybe someone more familiar with his coaching gigs can enlighten us.
Saw flashes tonight of takeover Mobley. As he improves so too will the cavs. Wish we’d stop making him dribble above the arc. Get him in the post and let him dominate
Yes. I don’t think the warriors interior defense was so good that we couldn’t feed Mobley and Allen.

I think we all agree, Okoro is unplayable right now. I don’t know what happened to his psyche, but he’s just an empty shell on both sides of the ball. It was definitely a foul, but if Klay wants to pull that shit, you lay him the F@#k out.

Not a bad trip. I’m more upset about the clipper and kings game, for different reasons. This one, those are pretty good what’s by garland. He hits them with enough regularity. We need to do something because the book is out on the cavs until we do. We can get rattled and we don’t know how to close it out. We need to run the system and get those high percentage shots. They are either taking us out of it or we are. Ones on the coach, the other is on our guys.

Late-game execution has been a shit show. in all these 3 games we could have won or had a nice lead and fumbled the ball and lost.
Couldn’t agree more. Their last three games were all winnable, the Cavs led two of them in the final minutes by significant margins… young team? Poor coaching decisions?
