The Cavs are on spring break in South Beach as they take on the Miami Heat for the second game of their two game set, and this time it will be the nationally televised game in primetime. The Cavs were able to eek out a win Wednesday night on the back of a MVP performance from Darius Garland. Unfortunately, he will not be available tonight because he took a charley horse from Bam Adebayo:

Koby has prioritized character and culture, which I believe in the long run will serve the team and the city. Rolo fits that, I have to believe if there was a better big to be had that fit the teams culture he would have been had. Looking at the Warriors or Memphis, even the Clippers… and how all that potential is squandered because certain players have questionable characters… no thanks. I am personally in favor of a larger rotation, but most coaches are not, so it is likely that they have good reasons for that.
About the “JR trust issue” meme floating around CtB:
What does this mean? How is this any different than any other coach’s decision on who to play? Are some coaches playing the guys they don’t trust? WTF?
The idea behind it is that he should trust certain guys more. Clearly he doesn’t. But people that criticize his rotations probably think he should. It’s questioning his tactical capabilities rather than his mentality.
My view is we’ll see what happens in the playoffs. Best case he makes right calls and his weaknesses of the past (such drawing up out of timeout plays) don’t adversely affect anything. Worst case is that those weaknesses prove a hindrance to the team’s chances. I hope he proves to be adequate, but I have some doubts watching his decision making/tactical play calls over the course of his tenure.
Playoff series will likely illuminate the truth one way or another.
I guess there is some difference between “trust more” and “better”. For example, Morant is certainly better then Neto, but I would trust Neto to not get in trouble for bringing a posse to get in fights in the stands at a high school game.

If it is as bad as DG’s eye injury then it’ll probably be around 2 weeks. If it’s worse, then likely done for the year.
I don’t care about the loss. But pissed about the eye shot Allen took. And why wasn’t that considered a flagrant? These officials and the rules they enforce, are out of control.

I agree that Rolo is for the most part unplayable. What big was available that Koby could have brought in? It seems to me this is what Dean Wade, Diakite and elder Mobley are on the team for…. Love asked out because he’s a petulant baby. It wasn’t in the team’s interest. Wade has to step up, it’s that simple.

What Kevin wanted and what his performance warranted were different stories. The Cavs hunted him mercilessly in both Heat games, he’s unplayable when it matters, JB told him the truth and he didn’t want to hear it. It will be no different with Spo.
My point still stands. He wanted playing time, and now he’s starting and playing 20-min per game w/ the Heat.
Really no point in engaging with Love haters, the numbers were clear he was still playable, and it’s the regular season you need minutes eaters especially at the 4/5 spots on this squad.
I’m far from a Love hater. JB was playing him heavy minutes until it was untenable. From what I understood from media reports JB was going to work Kevin back into the rotation, but they also needed to see what Wade was going to do coming back from injury himself. And did you bother to read Fedor’s report on Love, he was the consummate professional and literally every rotation player said Love taught them how survive in the NBA.
And the stats are very clear he wasn’t costing the team any wins, so yeah you’re a hater whether you want to acknowledge it about yourself or not.
I don’t live in Cleveland and I’m not on twitter so there’s things I’m going to miss. Reading the article you posted his sudden departure seemed to surprise his teammates. His buyout request looks to be sudden. Maybe petulant is a bit harsh, but it certainly didn’t seem to be in consideration of his young teammates that looked up to him and depended on him.
And on a separate note… I don’t appreciate being called a hater. The tone of CtB and the relationships between us have always been something I value and appreciate as a rarity in the internet world. I think it’s reasonable to express that I think Kevin handled his situation with JB poorly without hating him. Maybe it’s time for me to buyout.

Who knows about Green, but it quite possible that he either isn’t healthy yet, hasn’t learned the system yet, or has turned out to be not good enough.
CtB has got a lot of experts who know way more than the coaches and front office and should be making a ton of money working for some NBA team.

Meanwhile the Sacremento Kings tied for 2nd in the west. I remember playing them week 3 or so of the year and saying they were gonna have a home playoff series if they kept playing the way Mike Brown had them playing. Took the west being worse than I thought but they have a shot.
Cavs got absolutely jobbed by that no flagrant call. But this was mainly about shooting and the Cavs coaching staff refusing to try to outscore their opponent.
Allen is likely out some time. Honestly thank God he isn’t a guard at least and so his shooting touch is less of a concern. Depth perception matters on floaters and hooks too though. Really hope he escaped a laceration.
With the way we only play 8 players.. loosing Ja for a period of time is killer.. look at last year.
