Good evening CtB and welcome to the start of the 2023-24 NBA season!

The Cavs have traversed to the banks of the East River to take on the Brooklyn Nets to open their 2023-24 NBA season. The hometown team enters the season somewhat under the radar as they embark to become one of elite teams in the Association after a horrible flame-out in last year’s playoffs against the New York Knicks. The clock is ticking for the Cavs to prove their championship mettle given their prized acquisition in Donovan Mitchell. There’s a constant swirl of rumors about the superstar, but from all indications he’s a guy that simply wants to win. It’s incumbent upon the Cavs to prove they are a championship-caliber organization outside the enormous shadow of LeBron James. It’s also incumbent upon Mitchell to prove that he’s still one of the greatest playoff performers in NBA history, something that is now called into question given his horrendous performance against his hometown team. In the offseason, the Cavs decided to sell out to improve the jump shooting abilities of the roster, however there’s still a Kevin Love-sized hole on the boards with no clear successor.

As for the game tonight, it provides an interesting test in that it’s a game the Cavs are expected to win, even without former Brooklyn star Jarrett Allen out with an injury. It also sounds like the Cavs will be missing one of their best rebounders from last season, “James” Dean Wade. The Cavs will have to compensate for those absences with a superstar performance from Evan Mobley. Will we see a third year leap from the prized big? Stay tuned…

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted  live on Bally Sports Ohio, GO CAVS!
