Live Thread: Cavs vs Thunder
2023-10-27The Cavs home opener sees The Oklahoma City Thunder traveling to autumnal Ohio on a Friday night to take on a Cavs team missing Jarrett Allen and Dean Wade. Meanwhile, Darius Garland is according to coach B., “very questionable.” for OKC, Kenrich and Jaylin Williams (no relation) are OUT. The Thunder whooped the Bulls, Wednesday 124-104, with seven guys in double figures led by SGA’s 31. Rebounds will be key, and the Cavs will have to have a better offensive game from Evan Mobley. Should be a fun one!
cap up
The Cavs were up by 6 with a minute and a half left and ran stupid plays too early in the shot clock and didn’t guard the three point line. All you have to do in that situation is literally not turn the ball over and not give up threes, which is execution and coaching. Max Strus going to the basket is a terrible low percentage play in that situation. There’s also zero excuse not to challenge the blocking foul on Strus in the first half. The difference in that game was literally the Thunder taking points off the board… Read more »
The Cavs literally beat the Nets the night before in the same situation and played it somehow worse than the Nets.
Or even more egregiously, not challenge the Okoro foul when he was on the ground or lobbying to get the play reviewed for a flagrant or a technical. Just utterly ridiculous. He’s just such a terrible game coach when it comes to the little things that can give his team an extra one or two points or possessions.
Difference in the game was literally DM missing two FTs and turning himself over late
Yeah. He shouldn’t have turned it over, but that turnover was also due to the eggregiously bad previous play where they only took 7 seconds off the clock and put up a terrible look that led to a holmgren three. Also Mitchell was the reason the Cavs had their lead to begin with and he was exhausted.
Why are JB’s ooto plays so awful?
You have stat support for that?
They’ve been terrible for three seasons.
Almost every fan base has that complaint. Can you prove it?
I can, but I’m far too busy.
Lmaooooo
Players don’t have to shoot – it was bad execution all around. Game is different if Donovan lets Caris pound the rock for 22 seconds on every one of his bad possessions. Or if he Niang and Strus do better than 6-27 on 3s.
It’s all fixable as Mitchell says
Lu Dork cooked JB!
That’s the Ty Lue special: make the best guys work for it, but susceptible to randoms going nuts. It’s the right game plan.
Your response is gonna be “BUT MUH ADJUSTMENTS” – save it
Oh I forgot we had JB’s biggest fan lurking in these parts.
Coaches don’t make shots.
The late game execution (without a point guard! that matters a LOT) was shitty.
But the offense is looking really good, we are doing spacing / movement / early offense. Defense has been good without Allen
JB disaster class. Mismanaged challenges, got out-coached down the stretch, and let the refs ruin the game. And also has got to GR the offense to set better screens.
One of the 2-3 worst coaches in the EC. But he’s not going anywhere unless Cavs crater.
Nate, you might get your wish if these losses pile up.
LMAOOOOO clown take. Thin rotation executed poorly at the end but the game plan was good, shot diet was right, and defensive scheme worked well on SGA. Make or miss game imo.
What teams have won this week without their starting point guard and center?
Be kind.
