Live Thread: Cavs @ Nets
2024-02-08OK. Cavs should win this one. Nets don’t have the guys they traded today, don’t have the guys they acquired today, and dont have a bunch of guys available due to injury. Let’s break it down.
Day’Ron Sharpe: Out (Knee)
Lonnie Walker: Out (Hamstring)
Cameron Johnson: Out (Adductor)
Dorian Finney-Smith: Out (Ankle)
Dariq Whitehead: Out (Shin)
By my count they will only have 8 or 9 guys available. Maybe more if they got guys on two ways? Run these guys into the ground and let the deep bench eat. We start peeling the bikini pieces off the Spikee Lee in a bikini Fathead right now.
Yeah. Cavs smelling themselves a bit much. Gota box out. Don’t love the lack of physicality.
Recap, Opinion, Live Thread up.
Things have come a long way from that early season loss when everyone in the league thought JB was getting fired. Happy to see things developed and, maybe, we’ll see some substantive changes come playoffs. Hopeful!
NOT SURE IF THAT IS A “NEEDLE MOVER “ FOR THEM—-WE SHALL SEE—— THINK FINALLY SIGNING CPJ WILL BE A MORE POSITIVE FOR US
Dinwiddie signing with the Lakers.
AGREE—JASON—WAS THINKING THE SAME
FWIW, I believe we are on day 13 since Nance’s 10 day expired. Meaning we are approaching the limit for only having 13 guys on the roster.
I’d expect a move, or moves, soon.
RAPTORS WIN TOUGH GAME LAST NIGHT-ROCKETS/ COULD BE A LITTLE FATIGUED TONIGHT 👍👍
Denver loses on a SEGAB2B in Sactown. The loss column:
12: Boston
16: Minny, OKC, Cavs, Clips
17: Nuggets
OKC going down
EMONI —-( LIKE ME ) —STRUGGLING WITH HIS ACCURACY—— 2 /20 FROM 3 s LAST 2 GAMES
WAY TOO MANY… “ MORE BEERS PLEASE “ —— IT IS “ ROL- OVER “ WHO GOT TRADED—- WE TRIED THAT EXPERIMENT— NIGHTMARE LAST YEAR—— 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I watched the start of the Bucks/Suns game that RoLo started. He couldn’t do anything.
HE WAS TRADED TO KiNGS WHO ARE EXPECTED TO WAIVE HIM
MY BAD ARCH -THOUGHT I READ HE WAS ON BUYOUT LIST—)YARD BARKER) —PROBABLY……. “” TOO MANY BEERS “ PLEASE
SHOULD CAVS PURSUE THE “ GOOD “ LOPEZ —— HE CAN REBOUND/ DECENT “D” / CAN “ STRETCH “ THE FLOOR———-WILL TAKE HIM OVER “PED” TT
He’s not available
Love how Robin Lopez was reading a book as the Bucks were getting blown out. This happened after they traded him. 😂
TOTALLY AGREE MR STEAL—- DG “ SACRIFICING “ HIS PPG TO “ FEED THE TEAM “ —- FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE TEAM—- IT IS WHAT CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS DO — “ ALL IN —- THE LAND —- NO DRAINOS ALLOWED “ !! 👍👍
SAID FROM THE “ REINTEGRATION “ DG s PPG WERE GOING TO TAKE A HIT —- HE WILL STILL HAVE GAMES IN THE HIGH 20s —LOW 30s —- JUST NOT AS MANY—— GO CAVS
he’s a pure PG. everybody eating during a win >>> his own numbers. He already has an earned max deal.
Loving how the role players are almost always primed to take the open shot now with no hesitation. I have been watching Dean Wade for that specifically, but it’s been true across the board, even Okoro. Makes such a difference. There is still the occasional over passing from time to time, but I feel like they’re dialing in on that. Decisions have been snappier. Would like to see Mobley improve in that department. Seeing a little progress from him there, he is at least is getting rid of it when he figures out its going nowhere instead of forcing a… Read more »
Mobley’s ceiling is in the clouds!
Cavs play hard most of the time. Gotta give props to JB for that. Enjoying watching them. Still have doubts about how well they Will do in playoffs …..I guess we will see.
We will cross that bridge when we get to it. I am optimistic. If we flame out, we might have to rethink things.
Just a refresher on the roster: Player, ’23 cap hit (mil), contract status 1. Spida, $32.6, thru ’24-’25, PO ’25-’26, then UFA 3. Allen, $20, thru ’25-’26, then UFA 3. Mobley, $8.9, thru ’24-’25, ’25-’26 RFA, then UFA 4. DG, $34, thru ’27-’28, then UFA ——————— 5. Strus, $14.5, thru ’26-’27, then UFA 6. LeVert, $15.4, thru ’24-’25, then UFA 7. Okoro, $8.9, RFA 8. Wade, $5.7, thru ’25-’26 (partial G), then UFA 9. Merrill, $2.0, thru ’24-’25 (non-G), then UFA ————— 10. Niang, $8.8, thru ’25-’26, then UFA ————— 11. Jerome, $2.4, thru ’24-’25, then UFA 12. It looks better if you hit read more.
Everyone is signed at least through next year save Okoro, TT, and Jones. And Okoro is a RFA.
Given the streak, the leaps (Spida, Allen, Wade?, Okoro?), the unexpedted contributions (Merrill, Porter), and doing it sans DG & Mobes, I love keeping it together.
How the team holds up in the POs this year will determine moves going forward.
Totally agree.
Every other contender was flopping around at the deadline making wild trades and giving up future draft capitol. These trades may or may not work in the long run, and are almost sure to take a while to run smoothly.
In contrast, the Cavs are nicely set up for a while and can make a move if a good one floats by.
Anyone want to offer an opinion (or guess) on what fraction of deadline trades turn out to be a good idea?
Do Mobley & DG re-integrate well? Do we get a Mobley leap? How do our rotational pieces (Strus, LeVert, Wade, Okoro, Merrill, Niang) hold up in the POs?
If we wilt again, I could see changes. But I think it is more likely we push all in with the core 4 and most of the rotation. Given the lack of FRPs to trade, we kinda already are.
A big move would be a Garland trade. Or trying to package 2 of the rotational guys together for a bigger fish. That is tough without FRPs.
Looks like Mobley reintegraded instantly, and is making a big leap.
DG, not so much, so far. I think it will work out. Maybe a revised role, perhaps kind of a sparkplug off the bench.
No way. Keep DG in the mix, give him as many reps as his body can handle to work through the frustration.
He’s the X factor for whether we can beat Boston or get to the #1 seed. Further, it’s a ten-day slump or something like that. Max has like one good shooting game in the last 20 and we didn’t bench him. Patience and stability.

The team to beat!
Just finished watching the game on tape delay.
Third quarter Cavalanche!
10-deep lineup looks fresh in the back to back. Garland seemed to struggle a bit running the offense but was +23 so go figure.
Nets are a 2-man team now with Bridges and Thomas, and Cavs curb-stomped them.
Cue the Knicks fans whining about the schedule… Teehee!
76/82 are the same for everyone. 2x the other conference (30), 4x your own division (16), 3x your conference (30). Other 6 is a 4th vs 6/10 of the conference.
Our schedule stiffens in March, no doubt. But the task now should be to open up as big a cap on NY/MIL/PHI as possible. A bonus would be to close the cap on Boston. Double bonus passing all the Western teams.
We are almost as close to Boston as Phi/NY/MIL are to us in the loss column. -4 to +3, respectively.
HO HUM 🥱—-JUST ANOTHER 8 GAME WIN STREAK———LETS MAKE IT 9 CAVS—— WILL WATCH REPLAY!!!!
The loss column:
12: Celtics
—————
16: OKC, Minny, Denver, Cavs, Clips
———-
19: Bucks, Knicks
Nuggets at Lakers now.
JB winning coach of the year followed by a Mitchell extension is gonna hit like fucking crack bros
you go baby!
Mavs closing out Knicks, bucks down big to Minny…
so sad!
The Bucks are a bit of a dumpster fire right now.
Is Dame injured?
Amazing how easily this team just conjured up a 23 point win on a b2b… granted against a depleted Nets team but still, they didn’t even have their A game offensively other than Donovan… Defense wins championships…
👍🏻
Another 8 game win streak…
Attaway Cavs. Good win.
Cavs no mercy!
Sam and Damian close it out.
Niang parallel parks for two.
ha-ha!
