The Cavs welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to the shores of Lake Erie for a massive Eastern Conference battle with playoff seeding implications on the line. The Sixers are in freefall post-Joel Embiid injury, after looking like one of the three best teams in the Eastern Conference for much of the season. Can they survive their Embiid-less portion of their season? A win in Cleveland would be a huge boost for them. For the Cavs, it’s about burying the competition. This is a chance for the Cavs to eliminate them from the pursuit of the top three seeds in the Eastern Conference and continue to put together one of the hottest streaks in NBA history. Well CPJ is almost a year older. But I wouldn’t say this is true. Craig’s load up is pretty mechanical and he really isn’t a good catch-and-shoot player. Most of his threes are off the dribble with that weird elongated stepback. I’d wager much of his work in the coming year will be around perfecting his catch and shoot release.

Love the length of the CPJ signing and committing to his development as an organization. Put him with Ices shot doctor and heās worth 10m a year by Year 3

A let down game was inevitable. But what’s not excusable is not playing your best 3 point shooter (Merrill) at the end of the game when you need to hit a 3. Someone called it malpractice – this is 100% accurate.
Yeah even if youāre playing for two and OT, his gravity could have given Donovan an easier driving laneāthe Sixers werenāt taking any chances with letting Merrill get open when he was on the floor.
Merrill doesnāt have to be guarded for anything but his shot. Heās an easy assignment in the clutch for the defense.
Playmakers over specialists if you need a bucket
Merrill having to dribble after any kind of close out loses you precious time and heās not good at it: worst case he gets trapped and thatās game over.
Subbing Vert for Mobley was the right call. Four playmaking guards plus Allen. Strus has enough gravity and you canāt afford to have smalls who canāt dribble or pass
It looked like they were playing for Donovan to drive for the tying layup and possible winning and-1, not for the kick out. He never even looked to pass until his shot attempt was blocked and he managed to get the ball back. So, if anyone else ended up with the ball, they were just catching and shooting, no time left to drive.
needed other guys that could dribble in event of successful ball denial (he barely caught the inbounds and it was two steps from half court)
Would have been nice to go into the playoffs on a 47 of 48 streak. Now we can hope to go in on a 46 of 48 run!
I said even before the game that we might match up with the Sixers with Embiid better than the Sixers without him.

Dean Wade probably would have made the difference in this one, but we can’t use that as an excuse when the Sixers had 6 guys out.
The question of how to properly evaluate a two-point loss when there are dozens of bad calls in the game. I’m not blaming the refs for this one necessarily, but it’s crazy to say officials don’t have a significant impact in determining almost all NBA games.
I never get worked up over the refs (at least in regards to the final score). It’s part of the game. It’s like bad shooting, some nights it’s not going to be your night. The best teams do enough to overcome.
The Cavs have been able to overcome almost all of the time over the last couple months, so that’s good to see.

Watched the replay. They hit every fadeaway like vintage Jordan and nowiztki. In spite of that, still played within the schemes and had a good showing. Rough night, lessons to learn. Wasnāt a fan of some of the lineups that were played, but, still scored 130, so what you gonna do? Also, we gave them several points due to techs. Fatigue and looking ahead to the break? These guys are human.
Okay so this is what happens when JB feels 0.01% pressure. Calves were going for a 10-game winning streak. The lineup construction was erratic and genuinely retarded. Get ready for a genuine crater in Cleveland when the playoffs come. Hope I’m wrong but good Lord is this a pattern.

I always think CPJ should be getting some minutes.
I like 10 or 11 man rotations. Easy for me to say, maybe that is why I am not a coach!
I do understand wanting to play players near their “optimal” level of minutes, and maybe 8 1/2 is best. Does anyone have any data on successful coaches WRT rotation size? My guess is that most coaches everywhere overplay the best players.
On the other hand, JB has always seemed a bit tight on rotation size, so …
I really like CPJ. I just donāt know what he does better than the guys in front of him as an playmaker and he canāt shoot yet.
yeah, but getting some game experience will be essential if there are some injuries down the road.
We had many injuries down the road. I agree in theory but donāt see it as a pressing concern given superior guard depth
He sure looked like a playmaker to me and scores points. Plus dude can play defense and stop guys dribble penetration. Something our starting of canāt do
