I was listening to some of the Boston beat reporters today and they noted that the Celtics haven’t really played in any close games. Noting that if the Cavs can keep it close Boston may tense up, where they could steal one. Plus it seems like a lot of the talking heads aren’t sold on Mazola.
My pick for this series is Celts in 5. Prove me wrong Cavs!

An interesting discussion from the Athletic about how much rebounding matters (a worthwhile supplement to the discussions about how vital DREB rate was and how much Kevin Love was needed).
Team that has the most offensive rebounds usually loses, OKC exceptionally bad at defensive rebounding.
Knicks appear to be the exception to a lot of rules, which limits the conclusions you can draw from playing them.
The offensive rebounding stat makes sense. Usually teams that get a lot of them are undisciplined defensively.
I loved Kevin Love while he was here, but he was absolutely unplayable against Boston in the playoffs this year. I wonder if he’ll retire in the offseason.

Goes to show the importance of continuity, coaching, luck and timing – KAT was all but traded for being a slow footed defensive sieve a year ago (although some of that was for sure media hype)
Also “rebuilding” for an extended while, and making smart/lucky picks. The Cavs were there for three years and got Sexton, Garland, and Okoro — not nearly enough to base a contender on. Getting Mobley was a fluke. They did a lot better with trades, getting Allen and Lauri for nothing. The Mitchell trade grade is TBD, but they would be nowhere without him.
Minny is absolutely a great argument for luck (they had some absolute zero picks in Poku and trading for Culver, but of course won the Ant lottery) and verve (the Rudy pick).
I like the Mitchell and Rudy trades a lot, even if both top out at the second round. Big swings to bring missing pieces to a small market is key.
Poku was a pick for OKC. And yeah, Culver stunk, but some of this is “fail faster.” They didn’t waste years Culver.
