The Cavs welcome the Brooklyn Nets to the banks of the Cuyahoga River to complete their back to back here in the friendly confines. Last night the Cavs put on a show, and put the NBA world on notice with an absolutely dominating masterpiece against one of the Western Conference’s best teams, the Golden State Warriors 136-117.
If there was a poster child for NBA mediocrity, it’d be the Brooklyn Nets. However, this would belie the fact they’re actually outperforming expectations as one of the teams expected to tank. But one would have to believe they’ll eventually dump some of their veterans for draft picks nearer to the trade deadline. Can they actually stay in the playoff hunt? In a terrible East, it’s possible.
Where is the Cavs’ advantage tonight against the Nets? Surprisingly it’s on the boards… the Cavs have become a respectable rebounding team while the Nets have been one of the worst for the past couple of seasons. Control the boards, win the game… Go Cavs!

Caris and Evan carried us with 10 and 8 pts in that bad stretch of 37 points and DG went 3-3 FG (8 pts) with 1 ast, Ty went 2-2 (4 pts) and Evan went 1-1 (2 pts) with 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block in those 4 last 4:23 minutes.
A very balanced attack tonight!
Magic # is 71 for the “Perfect Season”.
Poor JA just had no legs in the second half. Kenny A. Talking at the presser about going small. Great to see he just keeps trying to solve the problems of the game until something clicks.

The 3-pt shots never found net down the stretch even during the comeback, they just found other ways to score while putting the clamps on the Nets at the other end.
NGL. I was baffled by Schroeder walking the ball up and playing prevent offense for three straight possessions with like four minutes left up 7. Glad he did it but that was weird.
Might be an overreach…but remember Cleveland under JB?
Kenny has us at least playing 2018 versions of basketball. We underestimated how bad JB was on offense. We also are playing 10 minimum players double digit mins. Been calling him our Mark Jackson since year 2. Hopefully the timing is right and we didn’t wait too long.
you right! although cut JB some slack because his squads had a lot more injuries.
True. But – although Kenny hasn’t yet had to work around any of the Core 4 missing time – look how so far he shows zero hesitation to reach down the roster and maintain his 10-man rotation, no matter who the opponent is. JB was riding his core guys for heavy minutes even during back to backs.

Nets were playing GREAT in the second half and did not easily falter when the Cavs started making runs. Cavs still pulled it out, while getting only a little help from Donovan down the stretch – no criticism, it’s really exciting to see that he no longer has to carry them to win tough games.
Absolutely. I thought for sure he would be going hero ball mode given only he and Evan were scoring that much until DG got going. Great to see DM not do that and a scrappy win results

I love this closing lineup: DG, Mitchell, Ty, Levert and Mobley. Shows the luxury of having great ball handlers that are 6-5 and 6-7 respectively who also hold their own (or better) on defense. Is there another team that can essentially field a lineup with four lead guard types and not be at a defensive disadvantage?
Boston. Effing Boston. But that makes this season all the more fun.

Should be a good one. Nets will definitely not be afraid to get physical, a lot more options for defending the lane, paint points may not be as easy to come by tonight.
Back at the arena tonight after last night’s glorious mayhem. Took a pic and had a chat w legends Campy Russell and Mark Price. As I was shaking Mark’s hand, I asked if he had run a shooting practice w team yesterday afternoon. He paused, and I clarified, in light of last night’s team shooting (esp from deep). He smiled and said “[right now] I am not going anywhere near those guys!”
