Podcast Episode 308: Everybody Eats
2024-11-15I hope you’re hungry for more podcast, because Nate Smith, Chris Francis, and Elijah Kim give you an awful lot to chew on in this one. The CtB crew slid into the podcast buffet line to celebrate the Cavs’ 13 game winning streak and their assault on the NBA history books. A big topic: the selflessness of this team and how the teams’ stars have sacrificed minutes and stats to create an environment where everybody eats. Shorter stints, more aggressive play, and a deeper rotation have come at the expense of Donovan Mitchell’s and Jarrett Allen’s raw numbers, but have result in a brand of basketball that is as exciting as any we’ve ever had to start a season.
Our podcast chefs also recap the Cavs’ last two games, discuss surprises around the team and the NBA, and look ahead to the start of NBA cup competition. The gents also perform some pretty exciting internet searches live for you all to experience, then take you into the numbers behind this Cavalier win streak. As if that’s not enough, we reveal who hasn’t washed their underwear since the Cavs started winning and look forward to the Cavs stretch over the next couple week. On deck, a Thanksgiving eve matchup that could feature a CtB reunion. It’s a pretty fun 90 minute trip to the all you-can-eat Cavalier content buffet.
As always, catch us below, download the full audio file, or listen on Apple Podcasts, TuneIn, or Spotify.and go, Cavs.

WTF
So no Mobley or Allen tonight.
Pitch for all star:
All stars split big/wing/guard into 3 on 3 teams (or possibly some sort of draft)
Then 6 minute 3 on 3 games as a tournament! Would be really fun could extend over two days or something.
Nate that pic is gold LMFAOOO I went from hating Niang to loving him solely because of his personality. He and Tristan are masters of keeping the locker room together and focused on the right things.
He can be a bonehead on the floor at times, but his attitude is first rate. He seems to know he is lucky to have this opportunity. He has a skill set. It all hinges on a coach who knows how to use him properly.
Yup, you listen to him talk… he’s clearly extremely intelligent, with as you said a great, positive attitude. He could be a coach if it wants to be in the future.
Kenny also talked a lot about using analytics to prevent injury and soft tissue injury especially being a thing they were focusing on (no way to deal with freak ankle stuff), so I think we can attribute a bit of the health coming out to training camp to Kenny as well!
Good point David, agree 100%
In fact I think KA listed health as the top priority of pre-season… they nailed it outside of a freak accident with Strus.
(haven’t listened to pod yet, apols) I’m a big fan of evidenced-based medicine. Kenny seems to get minutes / load management and how to use the data available to address this. I liked JB in general, but hated the way he drove the core group of players into the ground.
JB appreciator here as well, but particularly hated how he would ride Donovan the entire second half of close games even when he was clearly gassed. Kenny has shown a willingness to pull key players on to the bench during critical stretches to give them a breather, put them back in and close things out. Obviously it’s easy to love him right now while they’re still undefeated, but he really seems to have his finger on the pulse of this team.
