Live Thread: Cavs vs Pacers
2025-01-12Sunday evening Cavs Game, peeps. Cleveland looks to continue its winning ways tonight against an Indiana, who’ve won six of their last seven and 11 out of the last 14. In that stretch, Hali’s been posting 20/4/10 with two stocks to only 1.6 turnovers in 34 minutes a night, so stopping him will be key.
Both teams are relatively healthy with Ty Jerome out with an illness, and Aaron Nesmith out for the Pacers. Let’s hope the Cavs don’t get bored by success in this two-game home/home stretch with Indy. Go Cavs
I HAVE A GAME TO GO COACH/ WIN ββ IT IS UP TO YOU GUYS TO GET A β W β ππ

The smart guys still got Halliburton over Garland or was that some 2023 NBA Cup fever dream?
Sounds like Halliburton is doubtful and Jerome is out tonight.
Pistons beat the Knicks.
PISTONS PLAYING GOOD BALL RIGHT NOW 8/2 LAST 10 GAMES

when I was a kid, coaches didn’t want us taking long shots other than in dire situations. they preached: “live with the long shot, die with the long shot”. there was a lot of truth in that — some days you are hitting them, some days you are not. the standard strategy was to put a lot of effort into working the ball inside, or finally get a really clean longer shot. with no shot clock this could take a long time. major changes include the fact that people shoot long a lot better these days, the 3-pointer, and the… Read more »

wow
watching the game with some long time pals last Wednesday, I said that Shai looks better than Michael Jordan to me. this led to some discussion, but no one outright disagreed.
No way. Jordan was never this big of a grifter, and was an elite defensive player.
maybe, but Jordan is the only case where it was league policy to send him to the foul line if anyone played any D at all.
Shai is the closest thing to Jordan as a shotmaker, heβs imo what Kobe wanted to will himself into being.
Harden and LeBron and KD have been better offensive players but SGA has a wonderful bag and makes so many tough shots. Heβs a little grifty but obviously Jordan got foul calls no one else got and worked the fuck out of the refs
The thunder have I think the easiest strength of schedule left in the NBA…at least in the west. We need to beat them on Thursday and get on a hell of a run to make sure we get home court in a potential finals matchup. Between the two teams…it basically feels like home court could make the difference.
Mitchell is in a hell of a slump. That was such a crazy game. The effort wasn’t really poor for the most part…and they produced the looks they usually nail. Great for coach’s “we aren’t gonna shoot this well every game and need to make sure we are playing elite defense too” to finally hit home. Although they did pretty much play overall great defense befor garbage time. Holding the pacers to about 100 before then is solid.
That third killed em. Got em completely out of their rhythm.
can’t win ’em all.
looking for wins on Tuesday and Thursday.
Yeah that full court press caused some issues. Maybe they can work on solutions to combat it. Also the Pacers are fouling machines.
Great defense for a half, then got turned over and sped up. Might have a losing streak coming, which isnβt fine but at least it turns the temperature down on the historical narratives without really putting pressure on our standings position.
Full court pressure sped us up. Smart move with Halliburton out. Once sped up, couldnβt make shots. 2/18 from 3 with so many great looks in the second halfβ¦this would have been a βfire JBβ game last year.
Every good NBA team has at least ten inexplicable stinkers a season. I think weβve had 3 so far
Every game for 2 full seasons has been a fire JB game.
We missed more wide open shots in the 2nd half than JB’s offense produced in the whole season last year
haha! I think they fired JB, so you can move on to something else.
We generated plenty of open looks last year but the starting 5 didnβt play together at all – with health we were a 55 win team and comfortable 2 seed.
β¦of course then we donβt have Kenny so a win-win for haters and optimists alike
Lost in all these win streaks is the Cavs are not playing elite defense. Kenny has brought this up a lot.
Zoo crew time.
Scrub time
Ok. Keeping the pressure on.
The pace of this game was slower than usual for the Cavs.
Pacers junking it up, and pressing. McConnell has always been a Cavs killer.
Formula for the playoffs. Some of the cuts and open threes will go away.
Going to have problems with long physical teams.
Some of the Cavs cross court passes got cut off.
Itβll be interesting to see what happens on Tuesday.
We just beat a bunch of long physical teams (and long physical team doesnβt describe Indy at all lmao)
Think that’s gonna do it
Banked 3. Doesnβt look like the Cavs night.
Oof. That kind of night
Smart, garland.
Cavs in the bonus
Nice hustle JA!
Get Merrill off the floor. Not his nightm
Live by the 3. Die by 3.
Cavs miss Ty.
Oof Merrill thought about it too long
Coulda used that corner three.
Indy is some flopping douches
Good acting job by Mathurin.
Alright Cavs, focus time.
Big shot spida.
Box out, guys
No idea what they are doing? Wild shots uncontrolled dribbles. No one wants to bring the ball up the floor other than mobly
McConnell is a menace and they’re pressing very well. Bryant isn’t gonna pick up Mobley full court, which is why he’s bringing it up.
The Pacers seem like they have talented players but arenβt a very good team (despite being ahead).
They’ve won 11 of their last 14
Too much Niang
Junked up, ugly game.
Cavs getting bullied and aren’t answering. Run the offense through Garland and Mitchell.
Nice d Donovan
haliburton ewing theory?
Playing like total a.. in 3 quarter. 4 straight turnovers.
The officiating is shite.
Yeesh. Wake up fellas.
Yeah. I liked that foul by garland. Match the physicality
Yeah. A possession too long before that timeout. Getting a little too three happy. Wish Wade had run the lane on that break.
DGβs an assassin.
DG PLAYING WITH SO MUCH CONFIDENCE/ POISE!!
Nifty scoop spida
Spida fire
Cavs team just never stops attacking
Good Lord just foulin em all over the place.
Lol. Siakam tried to take a foul. They didn’t call it. Allen scored anyway.
Minivan quarter
Georges having an impact defensively. At least a few possessions this first half where heβs shut them down.
Merrill drives s et up that triple. Niang with some nice defensive moments so far.
Sam dropping dimes
Rough start for Mitch
In his own head a bit
Gotta love it when a missed layup leads to a three instead. Great start. Mobleyβs handles looking a little smoother.
GO CAVS π ON β GARAGE BEER πΊ β A LIGHT BEER β- β THE β MRS NOMAD REALLY LIKES πππΊ
10-0 run to start the game. Is that good?
Attaway Mobes
Mobley eating. Siakam is BBQ chicken in the post.
