Live Thread: Celtics @ Cavs
2025-02-04Good evening CtB!
The Cavs welcome the Boston Celtics to the banks of the Cuyahoga River for one of the biggest games of the season for both teams. It’s all hands on deck for Boston, this is the game they can shut down all the negative noise about their midseason lull… we will get a championship level effort from the Celtics. Can the Cavs respond and protect home court? Do they lose and the fraud indictments come hard and fast….??? It’s TNT, prime time, all eyes on Cleveland… nothing more needs to be said.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:30PM Eastern time and will broadcasted live nationally on TNT. Go Cavs!
Middleton for Kuzma:

The Celtics are hetter than us. More composed. Better understanding of mismatches and how to exploit them. Much less likely to take quick shots without running their offense.
that’s funny, I just checked the standings, and it looks like the Cavs are 4.5 games up on the Celtics.
Remember, there’s never really been a point in the season where we’ve been favored against Boston in a series. Depressing to see Luke Kornet outplay Evan but we are slowly putting together ways each rotation player can succeed against Boston.
(except maybe Niang and Ice? even Sam was productive against Boston – feels like the first time).
Caris and Evan and Max were bad, Garland had a rough quarter early, and still a two possession game. We should be able to take Boston this year or the next in a series.
This is why the Cavs aren’t real contenders this year. They need to try as hard as possible to get through the east but in games where they are backs against the wall they all tend to get tight. Merrill played great….strus was awful, we miss Dean Wade so bad. Shocking how important he is to our team success.
If they don’t help whoever guarded Tatum (Garland, Merrill, Niang), Whiye isn’t open for those threes.
I also know it’s the modern NBA, but how many threes did they attempt/miss early in the clock with no one to rebound them?
At worst we are the third best team in the NBA. Of course we are a contender
other than being the team to beat
5 boards from Mobley is not enough.
Lot’s to work on after tonight, but they can play a lot better.
Definitely a shock to go from scrimmage with the Mavs to a real contest.
Mobley had a bad night. Hope that is a rare thing.
I think the Cavs will be watching a lot of film from this game.
