Live Thread: Knicks @ Cavs (or, Magic Number – 4)
2025-04-02Good evening CtB!
The Cavs welcome Eastern Conference arch-nemesis New York Knicks to the banks of the Cuyahoga River for a prime-time, nationally televised showcase. The Cavs are looking to clinch the top seed in the East, and their magic number is four. They are also looking to improve their defense and rebounding heading into the playoffs as told by Coach Kenny Atkinson. Both will take a hit with Dean Wade’s absence (out with illness). Will KA unglue Javonte “Woo” Green or Jaylon Tyson off the bench? Stay tuned…
As for the Knicks, they are not only surviving without Jalen Brunson, but some might say thriving given how much the defense has improved in Brunson’s absence. They’ve returned back to their roots during this recent stretch: defense, rebounding, and ugly but gritty offense. Luckily, they’re virtually locked into the third seed, so the Cavs can’t see them until the Eastern Conference Finals. Have fun Boston!
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN, Go Cavs!
Ice with 6 rebounds but also got his hands on a lot of rebounds that he poked out to a teammate. It was great to see him that active.

“DITTO “ WHAT RAOUL —- THINK IT IS KJG MORONIC WRITER
Send this nba.com snippit to Cornellison at FTS: Allen is 31 of 34 from the field in the Cavaliers’ last three home games. I am going to guess that is over 90%
The Cavs need to use him more on offense… 1.59 PPP on post ups
I can’t handle Kenny answering the question “is there anyone who you are excited about going into the playoffs who is coming into form?”
With “Ice I think”
No. No. No no no no no. Ice cannot be the answer to that question. That’s JB level stupidity. Hopefully it’s wishful thinking on Kenny’s part and after round one he realizes how much of a liability ice is
The sole exception, which Kenny finally submitted to tonight is pairing him almost exclusively with Merrill. Also, at least he played for his job tonight and actually rebounded. That’s the only number that matters as it relates to him: Is he going to rebound like Trae Young? Or is he going to rebound like Josh Hart? That determines how much he contributes to defense and winning. If Ice is on the court, it should exclusively be with Merrill. And if he’s on the court, he better rebound. If he doesn’t, then Kenny’s clearly playing teacher’s pet like JBozo or just… Read more »
Wouldn’t have expected Ice’s mins to be more than a couple points better overall…but is this full season numbers? Cuz since the all star break the trend has skyrocketed in merril’s favor in my eye test. Even if ice comes back to normal…Sam is worth two feet of gravity by comparison. Either the paint is open or Sam is ready to shell from distance
yeah full season.
Ice’s numbers are bad outside of him with Merrill, he’s a net negative relative to the minutes outside of him.
And I definitely agree that Merrill’s on the uptick from earlier in the season. And no question about Sam’s gravity but he has the same problem as Okoro that he doesn’t rebound well.
But somehow both together works, usually because KA’s playing more size in their minutes and there’s just some magic at work between them. But they suck outside of each other and KA would do well to heed that truth.
Celtics lose. No Zinger, Al, or Jrue. Heat were down Wiggins & Robinson.
Magic # at 2. I am calling that a gimmee now.
I think now the Cavs have basically wrapped up the Eastern Conference. Magic number is 2, with 6 to play.
Celtic bench cleared
Celtics throwing in the towel
