2026-03-27Jarrett Allen is probable for the first time in three weeks, Cavs fans. Cleveland looks for revenge tonight after coming back from down 21 and then running out of gas, Wednesday. They’ll need him with the Heat at full strength and the Cavs still missing CPJ, Dean Wade, and Jaylon Tyson.
Hopefully the Cavs dominate inside and play with focus and intensity. Also, hopefully the Cavs keep two bigs on the floor most of the game, and only let Strus play a few minutes as a small ball four.. We’ll see how it shakes out. Go Cavs.

yup, for sure… tried for the home run play got burned, then the defender didn’t even challenge the shot. They just assumed they would win the game and didn’t put forth winning effort. Gets you every time!
didn’t watch it live, but why was there no need to pass against the press? the swarming defense had a decent shot at a steal or held ball, and you have to do something.

A little surprised to see Schroeder with a positive net. Although I don’t see a pre/post All Star on-off reported on br, it has Tyson’s 0-rating falling significantly post All Star break, from 118 to 105. I suspect his on-off net might have been similar to CPJ’s pre All-Star break. He (or coach KA) seems to have had difficulty finding a consistent role since the addition of Harden, plus he’s had his injury issues recently. My eye test would also have had Schröder lower.
Tyson has been REALLY good sometimes, but has had recent stretches of steuggles as well.

Yes! Back in the day, I thought Cavs needed at least one of LeBron or Mo Williams on floor until game decided. Then that often did not occur, and the predicted diff change would ensue.

If I was making playoff rotations:
1) Big 4: Spida, Beard, Fro, Mobes
2) Easily in: Strus, Merrill
3) Best Defenders: Wade, Ellis
That is 9. There is no pure backup PG (Schröder, CPJ), nor a true backup 5 (Bryant). Nor is there Tyson. Or Tomlin.
Normal SOP is no Bryant minutes with JA/Mobley taking all 48 at the 5. I am not quite as comfortable doing that at PG, as Mitchell isn’t really a PG.
So #10 would be some PG minutes for Umlaut or CPJ. Tyson likely gets squeezed. Unless we need offense.
KA is gonna have a tough job. I, for one, am not a huge fan of shortening playoff rotations if you have good depth. Use it and play more intensely would be my preference. But that just isn’t in our DNA, apparently.
It’s in very few team’s DNA, if they are in a tight PO matchup. I don’t think we will see #10 unless things are going rather nicely.
Ellis is really overrated defensively and has been pleasantly surprising offensively. Great at steals but his positioning is really bad sometimes. He plays really gambly angles for blocks and steals and gives up buckets when he misses. Especially on drives. Tyson is a little more solid but much better guarding smaller players than bigger. Tyson when you need O, Wade when you need D, and Ellis when you need to gamble.
I really can’t argue with this.
One of Mitchell and Harden needs to be always on the floor. Bring in Schröder if you need a press breaker or a defensive spark. Tyson or Max should start. Wade should be third big unless he’s sucking then Max should play four or Bryant. Cavs really have outthunk themselves on how they’ve managed Tyson. Dude has a top five three point percentage. Just play the dude who can shoot and is a much better pick and pop/ short roll partner than Wade and sometimes Mobley.
Size is an issue for Tyson. Especially if you are competing vs Wade or Mobley for minutes.
Tyson is clealy behind Strus & Merrill. And those are the guys who are closest to him in role/size. SG/SF wing who can shoot threes. And you already have Mitchell (& Harden) playing some SG at times. Plus Ellis.
SG: Mitchell, Harden, Strus, Merril, Tyson, Ellis
SF: Strus, Wade, Harden (on D), Tyson, Ellis
He is no better than 4th at either slot. I am counting Merrill as the SG on D when he plays with Harden & Mitchell.
Crap, I cannot count. That is 8. 9/10 would be Schroder/Tyson. Bryant 11. CPJ 12. Tomlin 13.

Pretty typical for a guy after a long layoff. Forst real good game since the debut. Hopefully he starts finding his sea legs.
Feast or famine is the Strus experience. He’s always got a pretty low percentage relative to other shooting specialists like Luke Kennard, but he takes and makes a lot of difficult threes at volume.
That 0-8 game against Indy was not out of character, nor was the first quarter tonight. He has a great floor game but I feel Tyson, Sam and James are steadier shooters.

Tremendous show of force. Mitchell is the only sour note but it doesn’t matter at all because he’s been engaged defensively and rebounding. He’s taken the only tough shots. Everything else is just a layup line or open 3s.
