Playoff Live Thread: Cavs @ Pistons, Game 2
2026-05-07Good evening CtB!
The Cavs try to regroup tonight and get even against Eastern Conference top dawg Detroit Pistons and stave off the growing cacophony of negative noise surrounding the hometown team. The Cavs couldn’t have played worse, yet they were still in it in the 4th quarter, but only to get the door slammed shut in their face by Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. Will the narrative completely flip tonight with a win? Or will the pressure ramp up and force Cavs’ fans to endure the humiliation of watching their team go out sad in the 2nd round again… this is what makes sports great!
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00PM Eastern time and can be stream on Amazon Prime (#SilverforPrison), Go Cavs!

LT up
Headed to the arena for #3. Hopefully home team understands the tip is at 3pm.
Meanwhile the Knicks have won six straight playoff games since being down 2-1 to the Hawks, and only one was even close. Right now they look like the favorite to win the East.
Part of the reason I’m not sure what to think right now is that even though we’re down 0-2, it seems like the Cavs are not outclassed by the Pistons. (Should I be optimistic?) It reminds me a little bit of…2016, when the Cavs were down 1-3 to the 73-9 Warriors. Despite that record, we were right there with GS. In that situation IIRC, both teams were playing well. This year, the Cavs aren’t playing well, and I’m not really sure how well the Pistons have been playing because I haven’t watched them much.
They could be up 2-0 easily.
MR STEAL—- REFERRING TO ME OR BUCKAROO—— NOT TRYING TO “ BASH “ THE CAVS —-JUST CALLING IT LIKE I SEE IT ——- A WIN TOMORROW WOULD PUT ALL OF US IN A MORE POSITIVE MOOD 👍👍
Buck
BUCKAROO WHERE ARE YOU——- HOPE YOU ARE DOING BETTER THAN THE CAVS ——— GIVE US A SMALL POST OF YOUR WISDOM “ THE “ MRS NOMAD WANTS TO SEE A POST FROM YOU ALSO!!
who wants to hear “they’re shitty, i knew it”
wack, just find another team
HEY RAOUL BAZZANA SMASHED A 430 ‘ HR —- KID IS GOING TO BE GOOD—-STRONG ALREADY/ GREAT BAT SPEED / —GOOD EYE 👍💪
JWHODEY 👍👍👍LMAO —— YOU ARE TAKING OVER MY SPOT AS “ CTB COMEDIAN”
We’re just too… cavalier, with the ball… I’ll show myself out now.
*NYer voice* we gotta comedian ova heyah!!!
At least the Bengals made solid moves!!!! #whodey
For ONCE my Bengals got effectively active in FA…
And what about our Cavs intensity level FFS… Even look at the picture to your article, Duran, Tobias and Duncan look CRAZED! FOCUSED!
JA looks… unbothered. Chill.
And I have memorized what Don’s face looks like when he floats one in the lane… self-assured and also, chill AF.
These guys HAVE to get pissed, CRAZED. FOCUSED. Otherwise we’re just too cavalier to win anything ;)
SO IF BRYANT ISNT PLAYABLE ( too slow ) WHY DIDNT CAVS EXPERIMENT WITH A STASH DRAFT PICK ( 3 yrs ago ) DIOP —- EVERYTHING I SAW / READ WAS HE WAS DEFINITELY ATHLETIC/ BIG / STRONG ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO RUN THE FLOOR / REBOUND/ DEFEND???????
AM RIGHT WITH YOU RAOUL—-WAS / STLL HOPING TO BE WATCHING THE CAVS THROUGH MAY POSSIBLY JUNE ———— THE TALENT IS THERE—- THEY HAVE TO QUIT “ GIVING GAMES ( the ball) AWAY!!!
I’d argue the talent isn’t there and that’s why it’s frustrating. Mitchell needed to take an SGA leap when he got to cleveland
Read on FTS that we are the only team in the top 8 without a No. 1 pick or an MVP or both (I guess Harden doesn’t count in that sense)
Who is the MVP/#1 in Boston? Did Tatum win an MVP?
Oops, nevermind. I was going by record.
NY, then. KAT was a #1 pick?
Yes – year after Wiggins I think?
I was watching the Spurs/T-Wolfs game last night, and it did not give me much hope for the Cavs. Ant is so much better than DM, and Wemby is so much better than EM.
on the humorous side, I have never seen a worse shooter than Gobert at any level. he has a dozen “awful shooting” highlights every night. last night he was alone under the basket and got a perfect alleyoop pass for a dunk, and he airballed the dunk
Those guys were #1 picks for a reason. Mitchell has had a great great run but there’s levels to it. If he’s better than Ant or SGA we can get a ring. Otherwise we need luck.
I just want the team to play well and look fun. It’s possible they find something and we’re still playing a week from now, but it’s definitely going to take until next year for them to find a groove.
THERE ARE GOING TO BE ALOT OF “ WHAT IFs “. — GOING ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE SPIDA TRADE / OTHER TRADES / DECISION s / ALL THE WAY UP TO THE HARDEN TRADE!!!
both trades were about a quicker shot at the ring. in advance I was against both, but got on board once they went down. there is no sure thing, waiting too long can also backfire.
For as much as we bitch about Mobley’s money, Lauri got paid a ton as well, we were too good to win the lottery and Mitchell is the second best player in Cavs history.
Takes a lot of luck. I’m glad we took the shot even if we lost guys I really liked
dunno about DB being the second best Cav ever. Austin Carr? Mark Price? Kyrie? Nate Thurman?
Nate Thurmond played a season and a half at the end of his career for the Cavs and was bad. Price I’d think about and is kind of in the same boat (tons of accolades but never top 2-3 in his position group), Kyrie has high highs but overall career was six years only.
I think Donovan stays and stays at a second team-ish all NBA level for another two years and that gets him over. If he’s traded after four years it’s a little different.
GOOD SOLID POST s BY ALL OF YOU—- WE ALL SHARE OUR FRUSTRATION/ DISAPPOINTED/ ANGER——— WISH I COULD BE MORE OPTIMISTIC—-BUT DOWN 0-2 — JUST DONT THINK ( they have proven all season) THIS GROUP DOES NOT HAVE THE MENTAL TOUGHNESS/ TENACITY TO COME BACK AND WIN THIS SERIES———- IT COULD GET UGLY AND WE COULD GET SWEPT—————— PROVE ME WRONG CAVS !!!!!!!!!!!
in need of some good luck!
hope we are not having a serious discussion next week about what to do going forward.
Most of our mental toughness has been of the “comeback” variety.
Cavs down 0-2 after having twice played poorly but losing by not much. I’m not sure how I should feel about that.
I just really want them to at least make it a competitive series. Not getting out of the second round isn’t a tragedy to me, it’s just that the Cavs have been so feckless in the rounds they’ve been bounced these last few years. That’s been the biggest bummer of it all.
My expectations are a little higher. I think the Cavs can and should be able to beat the Pistons. Setting myself up for disappointment.
Yeah. Start of the season I would have predicted them in the ECF at the very least, and will be disappointed if they don’t make it… but I also just really don’t have much confidence that’s happening and at least want them to go down swinging instead of limping off the stage once again.
Absolutely
Harden being a disaster doesn’t bother me as much as DG being hurt and bad would have, I’m just not invested.
If we limp off and have to find another PG solution between Proctor, Schroder, the FRP and whatever you can get for Harden, fine. You can at least get starter quality play at the position and hold the line while Tyson continues his path as a playmaking wing.
I guess it’s my limited imagination but I didn’t figure that Harden would be this bad (despite everyone saying duh he will disappear in the playoffs…). Was cautiously optimistic when the trade went down.
I was optimistic after a few regular season games where he looked like a huge upgrade from DG. the playoffs are making him look a lot older
Weird. Like with Lonzo and DeAndre, nobody had “healthy but ass” on the bingo card.
Quite possibly the DET losses were make or miss and you can tweak a little and make it at least 2-2. But you can’t have historically bad Harden games and a minus from one of the other core members. 2 need to play well, 2 need to be average, and we can get it.
like the HBA (“healthy but ass”) category header! I am going to steal it for future occasions.
Fedor saying Harden had extended conversation about his left hand. Ugh.
That was the hand on which he broke a fingertip, right?
Nah other one
