2011-12-19For those of you who missed it, the Cavs defeated the Pistons 91-87 on Friday night in the first of two preseason games. I didn’t watch, but Conrad Kaczmarek over at FTS did, and you can read his recap here.
The Cavs also played their Wine vs. Gold scrimmage on Sunday. Tom Reed discusses Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson’s performances in the game over at the Plain Dealer.
In other news, Byron Scott is particularly pleased with newcomer Omri Casspi’s contributions to the team. He characterizes Casspi as a “pitbull,” and thinks his tenacity will help the Cavaliers remain mentally tough throughout the upcoming season.
Fear the Sword has a survey of the guards who will come off the bench for the Cavs this season.
Baron Davis cleared amnesty waivers and will reportedly join the Knicks, so any of you worried about him helping the Heat capture a championship this year can exhale.
And the guys over at Ball Don’t Lie have an excellent, entertaining Cavs season preview for you. Enjoy it, since, if this season goes like I think it will, BDL likely won’t have much to say about the mediocre-to-awful (but promising!) Cavaliers.
“The first opportunity to watch Kyrie Irving play ball, not in a Duke uniform — “I didn’t watch.” ”
This sums it up.
Look, you guys, the season hasn’t started yet, and I’ve been incredibly busy. I (we, really: Kevin, Mallory, John, Tom) will have more content for you soon. It’s not apathy that’s driving the lack of content so much as… well, I’m not sure what one can substantively say about unsigned free agents trying to make the roster.
But I’ll have some season preview stuff in a couple days. Sit tight.
Couldn’t agree more. It seems this blog is just regurgitating everything on fear the sword.
Unfortunately this is so true. Sorry Colin but it seems like the blog is just becoming links-page to other sites with more info. Hopefully you guys can figure out a way to turn it around and bring it back to where it was last year; a blog with great content, new information and a good following.
Totally agree. The first opportunity to watch Kyrie Irving play ball, not in a Duke uniform — “I didn’t watch.”
I thought this was a great blog through last season, but it’s gone off the rails.
Why not start with an exclusive interview with Brian Windhorst? Or ask Baron Davis for a guest post? Or curate BD’s tweets? Or start hanging out by the Cleveland Clinic — hell, you could even interview Jeff Green and ask him if he’s considering buying a townhouse near E. 105th. Or, you could start watching the actual games which are the ostensible focus of this blog and breaking them down. At this point I’d read a high schooler’s English project if it focused on the cutting prowess of Ramon Sessions and how that relates to cap space in 2014, or… Read more »
@Jos. Seconded. Part of the problem, I think, is that the bloggers are not in Cleveland, or if they are they don’t have access to the Cavs athletes. I was on the Kings truehoop blog – cowbell kingdom – seeing what they were saying about Fredette’s preseason game (didnt catch it but he looks like a fun player…) and they had video interviews with players that the bloggers were getting, along with a couple posts a day that were more than just a round up of what other people were saying. Furthermore, while I think there was an inevitable grieving… Read more »
I don’t understand the point of this blog anymore. This has become the most strained, pessimistic and unappealing sports journal destination on the internet. This apathetic drivel has certainly lost its usefulness.
