2012-01-13“Irving is a 19-year old kid tasked with placing a franchise on his still-developing shoulders. His game, despite being modeled after countless idols, is his own. Speed won’t be taught; he won’t sprout to 6-foot-5 or be outfitted with a Blake Griffin-like being any time soon. Kyrie Irving is not the next Paul or Rose. He’s not the next Iverson, Zeke or Wall. He’s not even the next Nash or Stockton or Kidd. Kyrie Irving is The Next Kyrie Irving. And this may wind up being the best news of all.” [Scott Sargent]
“Alonzo Gee could be the Cavaliers’ most improved player from last season. The 6-foot-6, 219-pound Gee started his transformation last year when he started 29 games with the Cavs (5-5). Now coming off the bench behind starter Omri Casspi at small forward, he makes things happen when he’s on the court.” [FS Ohio]
“The Cavaliers got back to .500 last night against Phoenix and the Lakers are on their own mini win streak of 4 games. After getting Andrew Bynum back from suspension and Kobe Bryant getting some weird vampire treatment in Germany, the LakeShow is rolling. Kobe has scored 40 points in his past 2 games and as I peruse the Cavs roster, I don’t see anyone capable of stopping him from grabbing 40 again.” [Conrad Kaczmarek]
And now it is appropriate to who the sentiment of kj
Love the current development save for two things, both of which stem from a lack of creativity. First, I really want to see Kyrie running the offense rather than being our only efficient scorer. I also hate that we are dependent on Jamison. The fax of the matter is he is one of maybe three players on the team that can create his own shot.
Better yet, get on the reefer Cavs then write the game recaps LOL
Lack of game recaps is a downer. Get off the reefer CavsTheBlog!
God I hate typing on an iPhone….
Muxh rather have Henson than te kid from I’ll. Henson is Rasheed to TT’s Ben Wallace…
Why wouldn’t Irving grow to 6’5? I grew from 5’10 to 6’0 between 19-22 years old and I think that’s a pretty typical rate. He’s got at least another inch or two, which will help his court vision and cause awesome matchup problems. How about Tristan’s 10 and 12 foot fadeaway & hook last night!!! Hope he doesn’t get too cocky but he’s going to be a terror if he can step out that far. Then we won’t be forced to pair him with a stretch center. Right now nbadraft.net projects us to take Meyers Leonard out of Illinois. I… Read more »
I agree with Isaac 100% about bringing Tristan along slowly.
He is very raw, but very talented. Right now Tristan fouls up the floor spacing with Anderson on the floor because of his lack of jump shooting ability from the 4. You basically can’t have Tristan and Anderson on the floor at the same time because they have very similar skill sets and Anderson and Kyrie together are shows signs of being lethal on the pick and roll. Once Tristan Learns to run the pick and roll better with Kyrie he will see his minutes increase.
This is actually one of the few times I agree with keeping rookie minutes low, even if Jamison is the result. Thompson is not a player with a great deal of ‘technical’ skill, and I think its worthwhile building his confidence slowly, especially without a proper off season. As a high draft pick he will be subjected to a fair bit of media attention even in Cleveland, and I think its better he is viewed as a project with a great deal of potential than risk the psychological effects of having someone call him a bust. Not that that is… Read more »
Why won’t Jamison disappear so Thompson can play?
