2012-03-07“Kyrie Irving, the future and face — despite consistent attempts to the contrary — of the franchise is the likely option. With all of 32 professional basketball games under his belt, the kid shows all the markings of a leader, placing his team squarely on his still-developing shoulders in countless fourth quarters. But taking the reigns via quick, cunning moves to the rim is wholly different than yanking on those of his teammates, all of whom have spent more time on earth as well as more let alone on an NBA floor.” [Scott Sargent]
“Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant announced on Tuesday that Luke Harangody and Christian Eyenga would be sent down to the Canton Charge. This is one of the perks of owning a D-League team. The Cavs have the luxury of sending down players whenever they please.” [Conrad Kaczmarek]

We don’t stand much of a chance at winning the title with the Free agents’s you mention, and seting ourselves up to sign them would significantly limit what we can do in the upcoming 2 drafts (number of picks, draft position, player position flexibility), and they aren’t of a caliber that is likely to be absent from the 2014 Free Agency, so why jump the gun and hurt our chances for 2014 and beyond, years when we could have a legitimate shot at a championship with 6 or 7 first round picks and FAs specifically targeted to best serve that… Read more »
Its not that there is no one in the upcoming free agency that will make the cavs better next year, its that there is no one available in FA this year that is of a caliber the cavs can’t expect to also be available in 2014. This means that if we trade an expiring deal and/or a promising young player who isn’t in our future(sessions) for a first round pick or two and cap filler until 2014, our 2014 team will likely be much better. We don’t stand much of a chance at winning the title with the Free agents’s… Read more »

Make that three. They aren’t even that long. Two sentences. Roughly fifty words.
By the way Cavs: The Bloggers, I just finished listening to the podcast and I must say that I am a little disappointed by the conversation at the end re: 2012 free agency. I believe that John and Kevin were of the opinion that there will be no one worth using the Cavs ample cap space on and, therefore, we should try to take on long-term bad salary (e.g., Turkoglu) to maintain future cap flexibility.
I hate the comment monster more though. Just ate two posts.

In making this argument, however, it appears that you have both overlooked the pretty impressive crop of young, second-tier players who will be free agents… Read more »
I hate him for making millions of dollars and sucking at his job.
By the way, Cavs: The Bloggers, I just got done listening to that massive podcast of yours and I was massively disappointed at the discussion at the very end re: free agency. I believe John and Kevin were of the opinion that there are not going to be any players available worth overpaying to lure to Cleveland. That is false. There are several players worth targeting this offseason who would pair nicely with the Cavs core (Irving, Gee, Varejao, and Thompson), including Wilson Chandler (unrestricted, probably), O.J. Mayo (restricted), Nicolas Batum (restricted), Eric Gordon (restricted), and, most importantly, Ryan Anderson… Read more »
Seconded. I hate AP so much. As a player, that is. He seems like a decent dude otherwise.
He should send Parker too.
