Quick Programming Note
2010-01-10Hey folks, amazing win tonight. Unfortunately, I was flying back to school and doing various moving activities while the game was happening, so I only saw bits and pieces of the first half on the plane. (Virgin America FTW.) And what I did see was going off and on at random times, with a baby sitting next to me. And when I got back to my house at school, I saw my texts to my housemates to set the DVR for the game went unheeded.
So I’m waiting for the midnight PT encore showing of the game, because I don’t want to short-change an exciting game and LeBron performance like this one. So unless you’re a hard-core insomniac on the Pacific Coast, expect this recap not to be up until tommorrow AM. These are never up that early, but this one will be up a bit later than usual. My apologies, and see you guys in a few hours with a full recap. Put gut reactions below, if the mood strikes you.
Colin: at first I thought it was an obvious showcase – but they signed him for the rest of the season a couple days ago. If they were going to trade him, they would have left his contract status the same, because he’d be worth more to another team as a non-guaranteed. I think this is a legitimate shot for Williams.
I actually am upset at the time Williams is getting. I think those minutes should be more minutes for Parker and for the love, Boobie Gibson. @John. How did the Cavs inexplicable “let” them come back? It wasn’t like they started turning it over. IT wasn’t like they gave away lay-ups. Everything that happened the Blazers earned. They made tough jump-shot after tough jump-shot. That happens. People tend to think that just because one team gives up a lead that they must be playing poorly, and many times that isn’t the case. Also, Charlotte in the first round means a… Read more »
My initial reaction to the (ongoing) Jawad Williams experiment: This guy could be a legit weapon for the Cavs.
My next reaction? How long before he is traded, because it is obvious he is being showcased…. or am I the only one that thinks that?
i had a weird flashback to last year’s magic series watching this one tonight: the cavs jumped out to a huge double digit lead in the first half, looked unstoppable, then inexplicably let the other team come back in the 3rd quarter. it took an amazing effort by lebron to win what was a much closer game than the final score indicates.
one difference: shaq. so i guess that’s our saving grace?
another nightmare: charlotte in the first round.
Was a solid effort. Frankly, I don’t think the defense was even close to bad, and still the Blazers shot well. The third was simply a quarter where the other team getting paid acted like they were getting paid. The cavs played good defense, forcing a team to take jumper after jumper is ok. We ran GOOD offense in the 3rd, and just flat out missed some easy easy shots. The cavs were clearly the better team the entire night and the final score is a somewhat acurate reflection despite the fact the game was tied in the 2nd half.
