Cavaliers Win Coin Flip
2012-04-27Sent @cavsnick to NYC for coin flip. Cavs won the flip! What’s not to like?!!
What this means, from my understanding, is that the Cavs now have a 13.8% chance at Anthony Davis (as opposed to the Hornets, who have a 13.7% chance). And the lowest they can pick is sixth.
Update: The Cavs won the Lakers coin toss, too. They will pick in the top six and at 24.
I dont want anything to do with Austin Rivers. not a great shooter, thinks hes kobe bryant, too much attitude for not enough game. I want to get MKG/Beal like everyone else, then get Moe Harkless at 24. Sign Omer Asik in free agency. Kyrie-Beal-Gee-Thompson-Varejao, with Asik and Harkless off the bench. Fun, young team that I actually think could win 42-43 games
If we can trade up I wouldn’t mind going with MKG and then trading up slightly for Austin Rivers. I know his hype was more than his play some of the year but that dude can play and is a really good SG. He played PG a lot at Duke and that isn’t his natural position. A starting 5 of Kyrie, Rivers, MKG, Thompson, Varejao with Gee off the bench. Noice.
I can’t wait to see what Chris Grant and co can do with the options they have. I think there will probably be some trades thrown around, and we may even be able to move up into the teens. I would love to see us get Terrence Ross or Quincy Miller
Popular opinion alert, but I would like to see Beal/MKG with our first pick (I actually think I would take Beal before MKG, but I’d be happy with either), Ezeli/Melo/Lamb on the second pick, Green/Joseph/Jenkins with the next two
One other interesting thing I saw regarding the draft. Remember that Mavs 1st round pick the Lakers were holding that was top 20 protected? Yeah, it’s at #17.
hot sauce stands corrected. cavs and hornets have the same probability of not being in the top 3 (we all agree there). but, if we are not in the top 3, the cavs have much better chances of being 4, 5, or 6 than hornets do. i had that wrong before.
The ESPN lotto machine is now amazing. Hit either Davis or MKG 50% of time. Never hit Barnes. Just 3 weeks ago we were dropping down to 9.
I see what you did there John! CHYEAH!!! we got a 13.8% chance a GLORY!
Chris, we’d be the kentucky wildcavs after that draft. At least we’d be able to lure davis to his old National Championship team when he hits Free agency right?
ya hot sauce, I don’t think that is correct, there is a pretty decent chance that niether the cavs nor hornets land in the top 3, in all of those scenarios, the cav’s will be picking one spot earlier than they would be otherwise. In no scenario are they picking worse. we have a much better chance of picking 4th and 5th now than we would have without the coin flip victory, at the expense of chances at 6th and 7th (which as you pointed out goes down to 0%). the odds 1-3 are the same, the rest are all… Read more »
Draft Express has Cavs going wing tastic now the order is (almost) set: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2012/
Send nick to the Lottery again…..for the last time!
It also means that we stay ahead of the Hornets if neither team gets their number called.
The big news is the elimination of any chance of us falling to #7. All other probabilities are nearly the same as they were if we lost the flip.
Did Nick Gilbert get to flip those coins?
Top 6 and number 24. Ill be pretty happy at 4 or 5, ecstatic if Nick works the magic and we get in the top 3.
Bradley Beal and Fab Melo?
Kevin, in your opinion, how likely is it that Beal will be there at 4? I have’t kept up with this stuff because of finals.
Also, stop complaining about MKG, people. His absolute worst-case scenario, to me, is Gerald Wallace. If his offense comes around, he’ll be unbelievable.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
If the Cavs do end up 4 or 5, which is most likely outcome (52% chance), there is a big debate over who to draft brewing.
Today keeps getting better! 42% chance of top 3, 95% chance of top 5.
