Live Thread: Wine & Gold Scrimmage
2015-10-05It’s that time of year again, Cleveland… The Tribe’s season is over. The Browns’ season might as well be. But fear not! The Cavs take the court tonight to kick off the pre-season against the only team that could give them any real issues… themselves. While there are a few faces missing for the annual Wine & Gold Scrimmage (most due to injury, but one due to general obstinance), it should still be a thoroughly enjoyable evening for those in attendance at the Q (including our newly minted staffer, Mike Schreiner, who’ll be bringing all of his first-hand knowledge to the recap).
Even though the game isn’t televised, Cavs fans can catch all of the action on Cavs TV Live…
AC is ready… are you?!
Hello Cleveland it's TIME TO GET READY FOR SOME BASKETBALL.Cavs have had solid camp. The energy is already at a high level in the building

Non-guaranteeds rank: Cook / Daye / Cunningham / Stephens (Cook is a real find.)
There shouldn’t be a drop off when Kaun gets in the game. He has a few moves around the basket. Amazing at how well all the bigs can run. Mozgov, Varejao, Love, & Kaun. Four legitimate bigs.
Great to have Mo Gotti back.
Daye reminds me a little of Shaun Livingston.
Cook can run an offense and play in the NBA even if he couldn’t shoot. But he can really shoot, too. Heady player.
EG, can you post this:

A THREE HORSE RACE FOR THAT 15TH SPOT—-DAYE / COOK / CUNNINGHAM —–DEPENDS ON WHAT THE CAVS FEEL THEIR TRUE NEEDS ARE TO START THE SEASON——–RIGHT NOW COOK HAS THE LEAD FOLLOWED BY DAYE THEN CUNNNINGHAM ——NEED TO GET A ” CTB 15TH SPOT POOL ” GOING —–
Cook and Cunningham looked like guys who wanted it out there tonight… Was impressed with Daye and DJ also. Sasha Kaun looking strong!
Awesome to hear Kaun looked strong, I think he playing well will make Mozzy play better knowing we have more depth. So pumped that you all are threading a scrimmage, best fans in the country!
Well, that seemed like a pretty quick scrimmage… cool that they gave jerseys away to kids at the end.
Excited for the first pre-season game against the Hawks on Wednesday!
Delly lost some weight for sure. He’s looking really thin, just realized that when he was giving his jersey away.
Thin but cold.
Zero talk from Fred and AC about TT. It’s like he doesn’t exist…
I noticed that. ICE COLD!
I’m watching with some NC friends and they’re insisting Quinn Cook is gonna be the real deal. He’s looking like a legit back up.
It would be nice to try and develop a young piece like Cook.
Just saw 2 or 3 quarters of the scrimmage. COOK BABY!!! LET’S GO DUKE! HAHA!
He looked like the best player on the court. Delly’s defense is making him better. I know I’m biased, but I’m calling it now, he’s on the roster.
Cook scored like 15 points!
Quinn Cook just stole Delly’s lunch money.
God, I missed this team.
I think Delly maybe walked there… but great awareness to get the bucket at the horn…
He was imitating Harden.
Great look by Joe H inside to Sasha for the jam…
Mozzy is as rusty as anyone. Wow.
He did have the knee surgery… so he’s probably behind a little…
Andy with the great outlet to Cunningham for the JAM!
So many great calls on that clip by the Spanish langugage announcer.
I have DJ Stephens in the lead for that 15th spot followed by Quinn Cook.
Austin Daye ahead of DJ for me. Both ahead of Joe Harris.
Cunningham looks good too. I liked him in that draft.
Daye could flourish if he just has to defend, run the floor, and rebound.
That skill set is worth 94m/5 years, fyi.
Well played, Joey B!
He should look to switch agents. I hear Rich Paul is looking for new clients to leach off.
Mo Gott! (Come on… play the music!)
I really like Cunningham…
Holy cow. What a call on the D.J. Stephens oop. Not only can that dude get up, but he has a monster wingspan.
Great Rebound, Sasha!
MO! Man, I’m glad that guy is back!
OK, THAT commerccial was awesome.
Delly with four straight plays. LOVE THAT DUDE.
RJ can’t quite dunk anymore…
SHHHHHH.
Delly Trey!!!!!!!!!!
OOH. if Stephens can hit that shot.
Right?! That was pretty smooth…
Already shoots better than Joe Harris.
DJ Stephens with some RANGE!
Delly Trey!
Delly Trey!!
Great pass by Mo. That’s a dunk to Mozz or TT.
James Freaking Jones… Defensive Demon tonight…
Cunningham “might have gotten hit below the belt.” I missed you AC…
LeBron rocking #6, is that a subtle shot at the Cavs FO?
HAHA. Probably.
Mo feelin it. Think his presence on the bench will be essential.
You mean after Kyrie comes back… ;)
Mo Gotti! Missed that sweet J!
Bron going 1 on 5 to end the quarter… gets the drive even though Baby Bird got a piece of it…
Nick Minnerath… Unimpressive.
Nice block though!
Cook got a nice handle and a nice crossover. Delly should push him left. Moz looks rusty.
Nice shot by Cook…
Just noticed that LBJ is wearing #6….
Baby Bird was straight chuckin on that shot…
Daye looking solid so far.
Cunningham looks good on D as well…
“They call Minnerath ‘Baby Bird’ since he has almost as much ink as the Birdman…” LOL
Nick Minnerath! Stuffed by James Jones.
I’m lovin’ Austin Daye on the boards so far. He looks like he might be able to play some 4.
Get that weak stuff outta there JFJ!!!
Austin Daye is just too uncoordinated. Watching him dribble makes me want to rip out my eyes.
JFJ!!!!
Joe Harris is a good kid man. Really hope he makes it in this league.
Smokin Joe with the banana in the tailpipe!
Good three by smokin Joe. He’d made three terrible plays before that. I am loving Kaun.
Kaun moves really well. Gonna be a steal.
Really digging his inside moves…
LBJ deeeeeep in the Q!
Sasha throws the hammer Kaun! (it works since Kaun is pronounced “Cown”)
Nice feed by cunningham! Kaun looking good so far.
JAMES FREAKING JONES!!! Welcome back!
And we’re back.
Quinn Cook with some nice moves…
LBJ for three!
Nick Minnerath’s rear neck tattoo is what this Cavs team needs. Only see the lightning when you’re behind the goofy white guy.
Damon Jones is aging in dog years.
Anyone know what time tip-off is? I need to go gather leaves for a school project.
Was supposed to be 7pm (EST) but it’s already 7:10
Sounds like it’s going to start after the break…
With all these injuries – how many games could we win in the first half of the season if we just played Thompson, Kaun, Varejao, Jones, James (on minutes restriction), Jefferson, J.R., Harris, Delly, and Williams. Could that team break .500?
Digging Shump’s pink cast!
Wonder if he did that for breast cancer awareness?
I missed AC, “If you you can shoot the ball, you can get a shot anywhere.”
Andy!
I missed Austin’s sweet and soothing voice. I’ll finally be able to sleep. I wonder if Carr will be pull his, “if the Cavs can just score six points in the next four minutes, they’ll be within seven and then able to win the game in the next two minutes.”
LOL.
