Live Thread: Cavs vs. Hawks (#DunkTheVote)

2016-11-08 Off By EvilGenius

It’s Election Day Cavs fans! And, despite the funny (but sadly true) commentary from Key & Peele (circa 2012), it’s still an important day in our country’s history. Hopefully, you got out and dunked the vote already, so now you’ve got time for the second most important event happening tonight as Cleveland stumps for a victory in their home swing state against the Hawks to keep their winning streak alive.

LeBron and his delegation have run a pretty stellar campaign thus far in this young season, winning their first six straight in their bid to repeat for a second term as champs. The Hawks, meanwhile, have assembled some new faces to run against the team that knocked them out of the race by a landslide in each of the last two seasons. Gone are incumbents Jeff Teague and Al Horford, and in their stead… new candidate Denis “The Umlaut” Schröder and hometown favorite Dwight Howard. D12 has had a popular return thus far, averaging 17 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, while running mate Paul Millsap has been steady in leading the team in scoring (17.8 ppg).

While LBJ (The King, not the former President), has made it well known who he’s endorsing politically off the court… on it, he’s still the biggest supporter of his future MVP teammate, Kyrie Irving. Uncle Drew had a tough stop on his trip to the City of Brotherly Love, he’ll look to rally and turn things around tonight. Speaking of tough Love, Kevin has been pretty effective and resilient early on this season, taking shots and dishing out double doubles.

Probable Hawks lineup: Paul Millsap PF, Kent Bazemore SF, Dwight Howard C, Denis Schröder PG, Thabo Sefalosha SG.

Probable Cavs lineup: Kevin Love PF, LeBron James SF, Tristan Thompson C, Kyrie Irving PG, JR Smith SG.

Catch all the action (in between election results) on NBATV (but make sure you vote first!)

Prediction: Once again, Cavs get to the polls early with the popular vote, then withstand a late rally by the Hawks to gain enough electoral votes to claim victory in a closer race than expected… 116-112.

GO CAVS! GO DUNK THE VOTE!
