Live Thread: Cavs vs. Hornets (#ThrowBackToBack)
2016-12-10Get ready for a double dose of orange and nostalgia, as the Cavs keep the throwback vibe going tonight when they host the Charlotte Hornets at the Q. After rolling over the Heat last night, and Rick Cavsrolling the fans in attendance with their homage to the earwig that is never gonna give you up, the Cavaliers roll right into the second night of a back-to-back. Despite rumors to the contrary that the wine & gold might be resting a few of their starters (including LeBron and Kevin Love), according to Coach Ty Lue, they’ll actually have almost their entire complement back on the floor…
Tonight's starters are a full-go, including @TheRealJRSmith.#DefendTheLand https://t.co/gbK2S7nBg5

That includes a return to action from J.R. Smith, who had missed the past three games with a hyperextended knee. The only man they are down is Channing Frye who was excused to attend the funeral of his father.
Although J.R. will be back as the starting two for the team, Lue also made it sound like spot starter, DeAndre Liggins, had done enough to impress to earn a larger role in the rotation. So, expect to still see a decent dose of the defensive-minded swingman.
“If J.R. doesn’t get hurt, we don’t know where Liggs would be right now,” Lue said. “Everything happens for a reason. We see what Liggs can bring to this team defensively. Defensively the last three games we’ve been great. I like what I’ve seen as far as being in the right position, being in the right spots, helping our teammates out, shrinking the floor, and then getting back out with the multiple effort. We’ve been great at doing that these last three games.”
The Hornets come to town winners of their last three, and four of their last five with their only defeat in overtime against the Timberwolves. Both Kemba Walker and Nic Batum are having stellar years thus far offensively, but Charlotte’s calling card this season has really been their gritty defense where they’re giving up just over 100 points per game.
Cavs probable starting lineup: LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith, Kyrie Irving.
Hornets probable starting lineup: Nicholas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kemba Walker, Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller.
Prediction: The Cavs keep the good times rolling… 109-101.
Catch all the action starting at 7:30 pm EST on Fox Sports Ohio… and join the discussion here.
Hibbert would be dominant in China…
Cleaning up the boards for Jordan McRae…
That’d be a killer pick and roll combo…in China…
Hibbert really can’t play D without holding people…
Shump now 22-25 from the FT line this year…
I really don’t know how Belinelli makes these shots…
One thing he is, is a shot maker. Hopefully they’re attacking him on defense because he doesn’t play any by all accounts.

TT playing with fire on his picks tonight…could have been whistled several times before that. On the other hand, Bray gets away with it, why not TT…
Especially since TT doesn’t act like a loudmouth jerk to beats his chest all the time.
That Belinelli shot was ridiculous…
I guess Kaminsky needs to be completely wide open to make threes…
Damn, this looks like 2009 LBJ flamethrower time
LBJ/KLOVE PnR every time down! LOL

Lebron feeling it tonight…best outside shot for him in a long time…
LEBRON JAMES!!!
LBJ shooting the lights out!
KLove with a strong move inside!
Showed some quickness…amazing how good he’s looked this year.
Cavs outscored 18-6 in the third so far…
Man, Walker has been unstoppable…
He’s really Charlotte’s only weapon.
Batum’s been pretty good and Marvin Williams can get inside…
Thanks for the info… Haven’t heard much from Batum since he left Portland. And I never liked Williams since he’s a Tar Heel LOL.
Yeah… Kemba can’t miss this quarter…
Kyrie hasn’t been as locked in with his shot as his teammates this game…
He looks tired, try riding Shump awhile
Jump shot first thing to go with tired legs. They’re gonna have to grind the 2nd half.
Well, that’s one way to give up a lead…
Love hesitated on taking the three for the first time in awhile
Hornets playing with more intensity this half, especially on defense.
Little too much penetration allowed by Cavs to start the second half…
Get Liggins/Shump in!
What an alley oop by Kyrie and TT!
Man, that was a hockey check by Zeller on LBJ…
Andy starting for Zara P tonight for GS vs Memphis in what Ethan Strauss calls a shocking move by Kerr. What’s up,with that.
Probably Kerr wants to hospitilize Gasol with an Andy flop…clever boy…
GSW getting destroyed in the early going against MEM.
Box score suggests the move is not panning out…
sorry for the bad focus on the screen shot
Andy borrowed Dunleavy’s fork for the evening…
LBJ 8-10 for 18 points, 8 assists, 5 boards and two steals…
Wow, a Mike Dunleavy Fathead Giveaway…
The kiss of death…
Please Liggins don’t dribble…
Yeah, that’s two turnovers on him… still Cavs are +17 with him on the court so far…
Shump probably went all Kermit Vader on him told him to do it. LMAO.
LBJ fallaway is something special right now…
Ode to MJ complete.
LBJ going Hans Gruber!

The orange unis are my second favorite to the Game Seven black ones.
I really love the Orange…
Me too… I like the old school yellow ones too. I also like the 80s “baby blue”.
The baby blue ones are really sweet.
These are my fave, but agree on the black and the orange…

I expect a make-up call Lauren!!!
SHUMP TASTIC!
Shumpman Shumpman Shumpman!
Cavs just moving the ball so well this game… defending well also
Kyrie has 4 assists… how’s he playing?
Playing well… staying in front of Kemba for the most part. Had a couple of tough buckets not go on the drive…
Thank you! Stats were suggesting he’s facilitating more than usual that’s why I asked.
He and LBJ are both finding the open man so far…
14 assists overall… that’s a lot this early in the game.
LBJ throwing HAMMERS

EG, when was the last time you were in The Land? You need to make it to the Q. Fan experience is off the charts
I was back over the summer and caught some Tribe games… Last Cavs game I caught at the Q was this same Charlotte team last February…
Thanks for the commentary EG! Box score and CtB watching tonight.
I’m almost full Fight Club tonight, talking to myself… ;)
HAHA! Tyler Durden is an Evil Genius…
