The Cavaliers look to bounce back after dropping a home and home to Dion Waiters and the Miami Heat. J.R. Smith has returned to practice, but is still listed as questionable tonight at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Since he missed shootaround, it seems unlikely that Swish will give it a go. (Update: Smith will make his return and come off the bench). Kyle Korver will sit this one out with a sore left foot.
The Cavs face a Detroit Pistons team that screams “mediocre” like William Wallace screamed “FREEEDOOM!!!” Only, of course, the scream isn’t too loud or soft. They are 31-33, have essentially a net rating of zero, a rebound rate of 49.9%, and four players average 14 points per game. I mean, really… Sound off!
JR has struggled. We are officially in danger.

Kyrie with a couple poor decisions. Forces a tough shot instead of feeding Deron wide open & misses & then passes an open shot trying to force feed JR & turns it over. It is almost like he made up his mind to pass it next time.

Defense is half of bball and arguably more important, see bad boys, early 2000s spurs, 2006 pistons, 60s celtics.
Deron is worthless. He’s like standing outside the three line doing nithing on offense.
Not being utilized in any logical way.
We have one quasi offense that revolves around James/Irving, which means we have no sets designed to get others involved without their presence. So, we rely one talent more than scheme. When talent doesn’t fit scheme we suffer.
Yeah. He’s a PG we play with James so he can hand the rock to him & stand around.

We suck at the moment. We need to see a lot of improvement over the next 20 games. Some of it is fitting all the pieces together. Some of it is poor focus.

I dunno. I think he’s still finding his proper role. He does certain things very well and there is no reason why the team can’t put him in position to flourish. They are not used to playing with a point like him, and I think they’ll figure it out. Like they did with Korver, with Frye before him, etc. Delly ran some pretty sweet p&r when he was here. Deron can do that too.
No one rolls on this team, thus negating his number one skill. LBJ rolling with D Will would be devastating, but LBj doesn’t like being the roll man, ever.
