Live Thread: Cavs @ Spurs
2017-03-27The #Cavs can't get healthy. Iman Shumpert (knee) is out tonight and Kyle Korver (foot) is out for the next 3 games. The injuries never end.
— Adam Schabel (@AdamSchabel13) March 27, 2017
It’s definitely a bummer about Korver’s foot. It’s probably something that we’ll have to monitor throughout the postseason. Windy warned us that Korver “wasn’t moving well” a week or so ago, and it sounds as if that was an ominous portent. And as much as we complain about Iman sometimes, the Cavs sure missed him last game.
On the other side, Parker and Danny Green are expected to play for the Spurs and LaMarcus Aldridge has returned from his irregular heartbeat scare, which means the Spurs are at full strength. It will take 48 minutes of focus, intelligence, and execution on both sides of the ball to beat one of the best teams in the West, and with the Spurs just 2.5 games behind the Dubs for the Western Conference lead, both teams have plenty to play for.
Did I mention the Spurs have MVP candidate and the best two way player in the league, Kawhi Leonard? Saddle up, pardners, cause this is going to be a wild ride.
Prediction: Lue dusts off Liggins, Kyrie goes off for 45+, and the Cavs win a squeaker to keep the Spurs from jingling and jangling.
I hate this team so much. This roster is old, slow, and lazy. Ty Lue is completely out of his element.
Cavs:TheDumpsterFire
Two years ago all the talk was about Blatt not having the players attention. I really wonder where this team’s psyche is with Lue now
They play like this for a few more weeks, they’ll have Mark Jackson to answer to…
Please no. Don’t mention Mike Brown 2.0. The only guy who could hold the warriors back from becoming champions.
These turnovers are insane.
So much hesitation
HAHA. I hope this embarrasses every one of these guys.
Variance…./s
Injuries. You know shump and korver are worth 24 points in a half right?
I don’t think Shump and Korver would have made much difference in this half.
Sorry forgot to include /s
Yeah, figured you were joking, sometimes it’s hard to tell :D
Wonder if we could beat the Nets
Honestly, right now, we might not be able to….dead serious…
Well after giving up only 28 points in the first we are back to the cavs d that we all know and love.
Cannot believe what is happening to a defending champion
I like how the Spurs perimeter players attack immediately after receiving perimeter passes. Doesn’t give the defense time to rotate properly.
To me that’s the way I expected the Cavs to play this season.
Another straight drive from the Spurs. And again LeBron falling asleep on defense.
LeBron got LIT UP by Kawhi.
Cavs are going to get absolutely smoked if they keep playing giveaway. Cavs just look like a bad team right now.
Wow. Cavs don’t look very good.
That may be an understatement. We will not get out of the second round if they cannot get immensely better right now. The first round will be a struggle.
Is that poop on the court?
Oh nevermind, just the cavs
The Spurs just care more.
They are the better team on both sides of the Court. The Cavs knew the Spurs would bring it tonight but you can tell the Cavs are playing scared.
After watching the last month and a half and the breakdowns thus far this game, I am going to say the cavs are no longer capable of locking down opponents or even slowing them down much. Maybe it’s personnel, maybe it’s the stupid switching scheme, maybe it’s team wide horrible defensive awareness, maybe it’s a combo. Regardless, we are just a terrible defensive team. Cavs, prove me wrong starting right now, please!!!
I think you’ll be waiting a while…sure wish we had Bogut…
And we have totally lost our confidence and swagger
Only a miracle would help the Cavs repeat. The Cavs defense is just so bad.
Too sloppy, and the Spurs are getting to the rim over and over. I’ve seen this flick before.
This is good for the Cavs. They need to see how a real team plays.
The free throw line here. CRIPES.
Pop wants this game.
If JR could hit some shots, the Cavs would be right there.
Cavs should run their whole half court offense from out of bounds.
Out of timeouts are really the only times they run actual set plays.
JR is COLD.
Slow-motion uncontested drive by Anderson…
nice look out of the timeout.
The Cavs confidence is so low right now.
So far the Spurs just look better on both sides of the ball. Not surprising, just stating a fact. The cavs also may be one of the slowest teams in the league now.
Old and slow, painful to watch sometimes.
Nah, according to Cols, it’s the Spurs who are old and slow…
Cavs have no rim protection
LeBron doesn’t get past half court on D after complaining about a call.

Two home cooking calls in a row for the Spurs.
Cavs offense seems really ragged.
Derrick got away with a foul on that Manu airball.
I don’t know if James jumps as high as he used to, but he might dunk it more often these days.
Well, on the bright side, we didn’t give up 40…
I can’t decide if I love or hate area 21 with Kevin Garnett.
It’s just unnecessary if you ask me. The players analyzing the game is cool though.
It is quite apparent why the Spurs are a top defensive team the way they contest, rotate and play with energy
That was an ugly last half of the first. Cavs look listless and completely afraid to do anything offensively. Defense wasn’t bad though. Spurs hit some crazy shots. Cavs look like they all hate each other.
Hey let’s look at the positive. That was a great quarter for us. We held a team to under 30 points. The Spurs are only on track for 112 points tonight.
Always look on the bright side of life…
Pretty crappy 1st quarter for Cavs
Happily reflecting on how wrong I was about TT a few years ago. He is such an asset for this team.
Defense isn’t even that bad it’s the O…
Let us count the bad possessions with LeBron out. Three in a row so far.
Cavs just firing give-up shots at the basket.
What was that last offensive set? Hold the ball and jack up,a contested 2?
Last two plays now.
This Pudge/Kyrie lineup is gonna get lit up. Spurs attacking the rim fearlessly.
Would love to see Lue yell at the Cavs like they on their lazy defense
Like that
We’ve been fortunate on a couple calls so far. Also, Kawhi’s defense never cease to amaze me. How many times do you see Lebron get stuffed like that after he has a guy beat?
Basically never happens. Love Kawhi, wish he was a Cav.
Look at Pop, yelling at his team when up by five because they gave up a dunk. Cavs should use a bit of that fire.
Yep. And not from LBJ.
Total flop for Manu.
LeBron had to be 0 for his 40 from 3-point range.
Wonder if Liggins or Derrick actually play with Korver and Shump out. Look how many subs Pop has made already
2 pt difference, guys. Chins up eh?
Seems like we give up an open shot on nearly every possession. How many points the other team puts up just seems to depend on them hitting open shots. That being said, we have rebounded tonight and had a couple decent contests.
Oh geeze…bad offense leads to us getting run out of the gym
Lebron is like, “why do i need to give a flying hoot about this game?”
Man they are gonna destroy our bench
Man I hope JR heats up soon.
JR looking like New York JR
That first shot he took, turnaround heavily contested 3….ugghh.
JR is bad this season. Real bad.
Jr just got back.
We likely lose this one by double digits. We already have no offensive plays.
Like the activity early. Kyrie doing a good job of passing so far.
Banana split in the tailpipe by Lebron
Spencer Dinwiddie, the Spurs’ starting center has salary of $726,672 and is under contract for two more years. Reason No. 232 that the Spurs are the smartest team in the NBA.
Cripes, That was a wretched shot by JR.
They have enough to win this game on the road even with the injuries, if they can play defense, which remains to be seen.
Love you optimism, Nate!
