Live Thread: Cavs vs. Bulls (#EnoughRope)
2017-10-24I’ve had a bit of a conspiracy theory about Ty Lue this season… and it involves a whole lot of rope. As the guy being tasked with balancing a roster full of interesting and disparate egos and personalities (which also now includes a former League MVP, as well as a three time champion/LeBron’s BFF), his work would seemingly be cut out for him. After all, he’ll most certainly get the lion’s share of the blame if he can’t find a way to overcome the aftermath of the summer of upheaval and tie (Ty?) this patchwork herd of current and waning stars together for yet another title run. But, he’s got to find relatively diplomatic ways of going about it that doesn’t ruffle too many feathers… ways that might initially make us scratch our collective heads and say “well, that doesn’t work at all dude.”
So, follow my thinking as I imagine Coach Lue kicking back with a fairly giant spindle of rope, giving out slack to say Iman Shumpert as he hijacks the offense and tries to flash back to his Georgia Tech days of poorly imitating a point guard… or JR Smith as he grouses about losing his starting spot… or most recently DWade as he goes from insisting he should start… to realizing his talents would best help the team off the bench. My point is, we might not collectively agree that Ty Lue always know how to steer his team… but I believe he’s willing to give his players plenty of rope to try to see what works…
Sometimes, it’s not going to be pretty (e.g. Saturday’s goring by the Magic), but have at least some faith that there’s a method to Ty’s wrangling… especially in these early stages.
Tonight, the Cavs try and lasso some Bulls, using a wholly different starting five. Ty is going to try LeBron at the one, with JR at the two, Jae Crowder at the three, Kevin Love at the four and reinsert Tristan Thompson at the five (not that positions seem to matter all that much with this team anymore). No matter how it works out… it should be interesting to watch…
I, for one, can’t wait for the Killer Shrimp tribute video at the end of the first quarter…
YEE-HAW!
Okay… time to do your thing Ty…
Lucky to be down ten. Kay Felder and LeBron kept them in it.
Giving up 38 to these scrubs in a non garbage time quarter is truly impressive…
The Bulls are going for 160 tonight!
Bulls might get 40!
36 points…holy hell.
To the Bulls…
TOLD MYSELF BEFORE THE SESSON TO BE PATIENT —JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE GAME OF BASKETBALL ( FIGURED IT WOULD TAKE TIME TO MESH ) BUT THIS IS JUST PLAIN LOUSY BASKETBALL —-SORRY ABOUT BEING NEGATIVE BUT CMON GUYS —THE SCHEDULE THE WAY IT WAS SET UP SHOULD BE A CAKEWALK ( BESIDES THE BUCKS ) 4-0 START

JR not really helping so far…
Frye gets back into the rotation.
This is awful to watch. It makes me so mad when they come out like this.
The JR special
Nm. Wasn’t a three
Jeff Green is the Markkanen stopper?
Doesn’t help that Cavs have played very little D…
If it weren’t for LeBron’s offense, this quarter would be worse.
A.C. GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK IF CAVS KEEP PLAYING THIS WAY
Who the hell is Markannan?
Pretty good player…he can nail threes, for sure…
Played well in preseason against us too.
Killed them in preseason.
So far, he looks like Baby Unicorn…
Good elbow. Send a message.
Nice acting by Lopez.
Nevermind. He was hit in the face.
Thought the same until I saw the elbow…
Let the Bulls win!
Bulls have made 8-11, 4-5 from three…
This won’t last… but still
I thought the Bulls stunk?
Uhhhh…. maybe don’t leave Lauri Kev?
Lopez 2-2 on threes this year.
It’s not like he planned that one though…

Lue time-out play.
Man I love Crowder’s awareness…
I love this. Move that Nets pick up baby!!!
Looks like the start of the Magic game
The problem with LBJ at the point is that he can’t move off the ball and pass to himself…
Sure he can, right off the backboard.
He’s not Jordan Bell… /s
Markkanen easily assuming the Mirotic role… smh…
Markan-who?
THINK WE WILL SEE A KSHRIMP SIGHTING WITH THIS BULLS BLOWOUT
Lotta jump shots for this large lineup…
Man… I hate Players Only Night on NBA-TV… and that they pre-empt FSO where I live…
What players tonight?
Nobody good…
Par for the course…
MAN I DOWNED 2 BEERS ALREADY TO EASE THE PAIN—
What pain?
Paul Zipser 4, Cavs 0…
Rough start for PG Bron…
I’m glad Mirotic isn’t playing… he usually kills the Cavs…
He can hardly miss vs the Cavs…
Fred Hoiberg is 7-1 vs. the Cavs… that’s just odd…
TNT, dyno-mite…
A lot of people on blogabull were saying Felder was their best PG after one game…probably true, which tells you what a sack of pants they have at that position…
The best Clash album by a mile.
I’m partial to Sandinista… but don’t entirely disagree with you…
I love the starting lineup tonight.
It’s very tall…

LeBron Starting PG? TT back in line up?
TT back as a starter I meant.
We should let the bulls win to improve the nets pick.
Little early for that.
