Can the Cleveland Cavaliers win two in a row? Now that their four-game losing streak is a thing of the past, LeBron James and Company will attempt to get back to .500 with a Sunday afternoon game against the Atlanta Hawks.
While the Hawks played the Cavaliers extremely well last season, this isn’t last year’s team. With a 1-8 record, the Hawks are currently tied with the Sacramento Kings for the second-worst record in the NBA. Still, they could provide a test for the Cavaliers’ perimeter defense. Dennis Schroeder is averaging 21 points a game, and Taurean Prince is shooting 47% from three this season. Prince continues to make strides in his second year, and looks like a real building block for this team. While Kent Bazemore has struggled with his shot thus far, both he and Marco Belinelli are the kind of veteran wings who cannot be ignored.
Still, this game will come down to effort for the Cavaliers. If they play with intensity the entire game, they’ll likely win. If they loaf through the early part of the game like they have so many times this season, then they’ll give the Hawks confidence and the chance to pull off the upset. Hopefully we’ll see the Cavaliers who have shown up against the Bucks, Celtics, and Wizards this season.

It’s still early in the season, no need to be thinking rebuild, we have the GOAT, things are going to change a lot when IT starts playing.
I’m more concerned about the defense which IT doesn’t help us with.
They won’t advance with this defense. They don’t even look like a playoff team. Not sure what changes defensively to make them get better. I have never seen an nba team make so many mistakes on that end. Truly remarkable.

That was one of the worst breaks I have ever seen by the Hawks. Korver was there for like 2 seconds and that guy still went straight into him. Didn’t even try to change course. The Hawks are terrible.

Do Lue and Longibardi not practice defense at all? How is it possible someone gets that wide open on a dunk? A change needs to be made if the cavs can’t figure out where to be on a simple pick and roll.

This is truly fascinating in a morbid, train wreck sort of way. Hawks might blow us out by the end of the first quarter in our own building. It’s like watching a horrible accident but for some reason you just can’t look away.

The cavs are a bad team. What they have done on the court is the evidence. They might become an ok team by march or April but they are going to lose a lot. Maybe nearly as many or more games than they win. They won’t be even 500 if their defense remains this bad. They don’t have the system or the talent to compensate for the system outscore opponents without stupidly massive efforts by James. Our defensive ‘philosophy’ is so stupid. They have 1 good shooter & yet we leave him open every time because that hard show by Love results in a 4 on 3 every time. Awful.

I wish Kyrie had went to the Warriors so I could focus all my hater energy in one place. I have some issues with Lue, but I think he’s an adequate coach and more importantly I assume it’s what LeBron wants. Kyrie’s b.s. about “craving” an intellectual coach is just another dig at Cleveland. He was playing next to the highest IQ in the league, maybe ever, but he didn’t liked being “sonned”. Celtics are playing every game like it’s game 1 in the finals, careful you don’t fall off the edge of the earth Kyrie, come April.
In some ways,, you have to rate Irving over Durant. Durant (who is vastly better than KI) thought he could not lead a team to the championship, so he hitched his wagon to the powerhouse. Irving at least he thinks he can lead a team by himself. He is deluded if he thinks he can lead a team to the championship. Maybe all he cares about is being “the man”.
Something that will never change about Irving is that when it comes to his own skills and game on the court, he appears to have ALL of the confidence in the world.
The Celtics rotation is made up mostly of really really young guys with Tatum, Brown, Irving, Rozier, and Smart. Even Morris is only 28 and in the prime of his career. They can afford to play hard and go all out because they have to capacity to recover much quicker than our team. They won’t likely get tired with how young most of those guys are.
I have watched all but one of the Celtics games. I would say they are playing with measured intensity, like 85-90% effort, but none of the laziness the Cavs have shown much too often. Given their youth, I imagine 85% is sustainable.
Stupid OKC’s obsession to pad Westbrook’s rebound stats might have cost them the game giving Kyrie that 5 pt play.
