2021-10-25Coming off an impressive win against the contending Atlanta Hawks, our Cleveland Cavaliers visit the offense-happy Denver Nuggets and incumbent MVP Nikola Jokic on the start of a brutal West Coast trip that will pit them against the cream of the crop in the Western Conference. The Cavs will look to build on their hot offensive start (13th in the league in offensive rating, per Cleaning The Glass), and staunch the bleeding on defense (27th in the league).
The good news is that Darius Garland is back, per the official Cleveland Cavaliers Twitter account. Dylan Windler remains a game-time decision.

I am not going through this crap again this season with Spectrum. Most nights when the Bluejackets play they will show them over the Cavs, even though they have two channels for this stuff. I pay too much just to watch the Cavs games. I am going to cancel the tv part of the subscription Wednesday and see if there is any other way of watching the games.
The NBA is the absolute worst league at allowing people (who are willing to pay, mind you) to watch their product. Just fed the F up.

Yeah, gotta say that Mobley is the front-runner for ROY, with Duarte and Green in the rearview mirror…should be a great season for Evan! I’m really impressed with how comfortable he’s been in the flow of the offense. Most rooks have a hard time modulating their offensive role and toggle on/off between ball-hogging and disappearing entirely.

Here is something alarming about Jalen Green. Despite that explosion the other day he has shot ZERO FTs the first three games!!!! That may have been a knock on him, despite having amazing body control and vertical, avoiding contact near the bucket. Can’t remember. He took a ton of threes the other day but still zero FTs is a head scratcher.

Yeah, I hear you – I watched most of his summer league games (because I’m obsessed with Alperen Sengun) and even against lesser competition you could tell that Green tends to barrel to the rim without a plan or much control over his pace. His finishing needs to be developed, along with his foul-drawing. But as Chris noted below, fouling (and offense) is down league-wide. I’m not gonna worry about Green for now…the shooting stroke seems very real to me, and everything else can come with time.
Although I will note that foul-drawing isn’t a talent that everyone develops over time. Kyrie has never drawn fouls at a high rate, and he’s managed to be great despite that because he’s one of the most talented finishers of all time. It’ll be interesting to see Green blossom over the years. I’m actually more worried about his utter lack of passing instincts…I think Sengun is a great fit with him because of his facilitation.
He actually had a few nice passes last game for wide open layups or treys. But they were basic reads. Drive and kick or drive and dish.
