The Cavs escape the cold for the banks of Biscayne Bay as they take on Eastern Conference rival Miami for a two game road series against a potential playoff opponent. The Cavs have taken their rightful place near the top of the East while Coach Eric Spoelstra is working his devil magic yet again leading Miami to a top 5 defensive efficiency ranking while also being one of the best passing teams in the NBA (ranked 2nd in assist ratio according to NBA.com). Also interestingly, Miami is the fastest pace team in the NBA, which is leading to a lot of easy buckets. For the Cavs to win, they’ll need to overcome Miami’s stingy defense, short circuit their transition offense, and exploit Miami’s inability to rebound (ranked 3rd worst). A fantastic early test for the good guys.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:30PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted live on Fanduel Sports Network Ohio, Go Cavs!

Yeah, Allen should have been on the ball. Hunter and Merrill were still working things out at the start of the play (waving at each other). That may have been it.
Or Hunter on the inbounder so you can have JA & Mobes at the rim.

A pretty crafty play call by Miami. I’ve watched it like ten times. Not sure how often you could get away with it. Cavs should add that to the playbook to use two years from now.
Gonna maybe be a maverick here and suggest in a muck-raking journalist kind of fashion, and with 20-20 hindsight of course, that Kenny getting intentionally tossed might have ended up hurting the Cavs last night.
About a thousand “should have” moments. Merrill passing to Tyson instead of taking the foul shots. Tyson not passing back to Merrill. Taking a timeout before a wide open Mobley shot. Allen dropping 14/7 +7 in 20 minutes and not playing the fourth. Cavs not challenging cause they didn’t want to burn their timeouts ( that they’d wasted). Johnny wasn’t ready for primetime.
