Live Thread: Kings at Cavaliers
2015-01-30It looks like LeBron and his sore right wrist will return to the lineup against a struggling Sacramento squad. Even with King James holding court, the Cavaliers will likely look again to All-Star, Kyrie Irving as a primary option. Fresh off an NBA season-league and career high 55 points, Uncle Drew will attempt to extend the Cavaliers’ win streak to nine with his Kyridiculous play.
Kevin Love is also nursing a sore knee. The Cavs desperately need all of its frontcourt depth against first time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins. Boogie destroyed the Wine and Gold the last time out. Adam Silver rightfully chose Cousins over a host of deserving Western Conference players. Though the Kings have struggled since the inexplicable firing of ex-Cav coach Mike Malone, Cousins has continued to play well. Timofey Mozgov made his first start as a Cav in the first meeting between the teams. The Cleveland faithful hope for a better result. Sound off.
Scissors. Scissors. Scissors.
You beat me! But we tied. So I’d say that the tie goes to the winner.
I love that the Cavs can still dominate a team even when they don’t score a ton of points….
Okay. To avoid “short comment” warning type it three times:
Paper rock or scissors?
Quick.
Scissors scissors scissors
JR SWISHHHHH!!!
THAT BALL WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!!
Damn! I wish Kyrie and Moz could connect those dots… Once they do, it’s going to be magical!
We’ll make it 4 out of 7.
I think I must be on a delayed feed ;)
Some exciting basketball tonight. Sacramento not giving up.
So many beautiful passes that just missed tonight.
At least they’re sharing the ball… they’re giving the ball energy.
Glad Gilbert doesn’t pay misgivings in rubles.
Misgivings is misgivings in auto correct.
mozgov for crying out loud. Jeepers
Fantastic sequence right there!
MOZGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KYRIE! AND ONE! SHOUT IT YOUNG FELLA!
Hoping Bron can take the fourth quarter off…
It looks like we all appreciating the defensive effort by KLove. Great to see!
Amen to that R.J. Bunch of knowledgeable fans here.
HOLY COW! LOVE with the one handed TD try!
That was a helluva pass. Never mind that they didn’t score.
He didn’t even hit the floor and threw that! I mean that’s like water polo strength right there!
Water polo? You must live in LA.
Just couldn’t think of a better example of a sport that I’ve seen that kind of move in… and he wasn’t even in water!
Great idea… LBJ should’ve taken it to the hole there.
Win or lose – every night I am thankful I get to watch Kyrie every night.
(I know, that came from the “Department of Redundancy Department”)
He is a sight to behold…. I’m glad he’s on our side
Even better that he signed long-term this summer!
Cousins is one of the few bigs that could have stopped that LBJ to Moz transition oop…
Kyrie! Back in the ZONE!
I’ve seen KLove get his hands up a few times tonight…
Kyrie shook a fan’s hand before inbounding there.
This is some AWESOME D!
JR Smith is a much more instinctive defender than I imagined.
Agreed. When he is getting shots I think he is fully engaged in defense. When he gets passed over for open looks his touch of lazy shows up. The good/bad jr I guess
Off topic: I have hardys cognac, ransom gin and bulleit rye whiskey. What do you recommend I make for my wife to drink? I’m not much of a connoisseur but I enjoy mixing for others.
A glass of H20.
With a little C03 in it.
My favorite drink u-dog. But she is enjoying scandal and some murder show she didn’t finish from yesterday
Ah… the old Shonda Rhimes three-hour Thursday night block….
Yeah I know. It’s painful but the actresses are spectacular eye candy.
KYRIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I kinda HATE how Thompson (the Sacto one) keeps volleyballing the ball back out…
yeah Sacto getting way too many second chance opportunities
Agreed Tom, only flaw in the D tonight.
Nice play by JR there…
A little quicker. We’ll make it three out of five.
JR has made defensive plays all night.
Haven’t been to a game in a couple years. A couple notes: the fan experience is awesome, the seats are the most comfortable arena seats ever, and the humungotron is humongous.
And how AWESOME was that new opening?!
Argh. We were late.
You’ve got to watch it. Maybe it’s on-line, or you can check it out at the Sixers game on Monday…
It is very humongous. There’s one broken pixel on one of the screens. It stays red all the time. It will probably take a million dollars to fix.
Different perspective isn’t it?
View from the top…
GO NATE! I’m convinced Love is having a great game because you’re there screaming at him!
You did say that.
A CtBer in the house. Looks like another guaranteed victory.
And Nate said he’s going to the Sixers game on Monday too!
Who’s going to Minny tomorrow?? Cols, you’re probably the closest…
Enjoy this game. I bet it will be closer by 4th quarter.
Gotta say I absolutely love how they are playing. Ball movement and off ball movement is fantastic, defense has been very good, and they have been getting love the ball in the post and midpoint and good things have happened. They are only up 11 but really they have had around six shots go in and out. The amount of layup that rolled out had to be at least 4. In addition there has been some terrible calls. Without collisions ridiculous bank at the end of the half, even with everything I just mentioned, they still would have been up… Read more »
Agreed John b…. looking better and better.
Lillian should be the all star and not love. I think dirk is glad he is off. Thibs is elated rose will rest. I am overjoyed love will rest
I am convinced that jr is ok with the role dion couldn’t do. Get his long distance shots in flow of offense and play defense.
The Love watch: 16 points in the first quarter, 2 points (no FGs) in the second.
Love 7-10 shooting in the first quarter, 0-3 in the second quarter.
By far KLove’s best game. Good personality, has kept his mouth shut to keep KI and LBJ happy while continuing to give good effort. And, he continues to take the correct shot. His defense is improving to the point where I don’t notice him being a liability. I like what I see tonight. It feels natural, as if the CAVS were not “trying” to get him involved. He is starting to grow on me.
I think he was having trouble because there’s a hole in the rim.
But good comment Brandon. Glad to hear he’s growing on you. He will continue too. He’s a very efficient player.
Rock Rock Rock
C’mon dudes!
Was your comment too short?
We’ll try it again later.
Sorry, had to take a work call… This Blog is ruining my day job ;)
Ok. Everybody simultaneously –
Paper, rock or scissors
Rock! comment was too short the first time haha
Great half of defense… good half of offense, just need to make the open looks.
DAMMIT!!! That was a 5 point swing.
Shump is knocking the rust off. By May he will be dangerous in this lineup
By May his hair will be six inches long. It’ll be harder to keep his balance.
Shumpert borrowing the nutmeg move from the soccer field.
Iman called the old fumblerooski on that one!
AC: “An inadvertent dribble between the legs.”
Inadvertent is a great word. It has gotten me out of trouble on many occasions.
TT with the garbageman bucket
And somewhere Pete Carril is smiling at that back door.
Do you mean Pete Carril or Steve Carrell?
Blatt’s old coach. Is Steve Carell back door a thing?
AWESOME PASS BY KLOVE TO LBJ!
. . . and he has 18 pts to boot!!!
Great pass by Love to backdoor LeBron
Good foul by JR… make him go to the line
I was first. Gotta be quicker EG.
Lol, doing my best on a suspect slingbox feed at the office…
Oh . . . so you should be working? Like Cols? Why can’t he work and post? Eh?
(Answer: Because Cols is Lebron)
Can’t be. Lebron loves Delly, Cols does not.
No doubt smith is locked in on d even though his shot is off
I like to see fouls like that JR. Next time he’ll blow a gimmee.
Coming out of college they said that Ben McLemore had the athleticism of D Wade and the smooth shooting stroke of Ray Allen (and the competitiveness of Andrew Wiggins . . . if you get what I mean).
Love McLemore… been underused at Kansas and Sac
Love how they’re sustaining their play right now with LBJ on the bench for an extended time.
The margin hasn’t really changed much, but it seems to m that we are missing an awful lot of open shots, whereas they are making an awful lot of contested shots. This is really encouraging.
This defense has been impressive… something has made them buy in on the defensive end.
How did the refs miss the trip on Kyrie??
Good closeout by JR on that transition 3, got a piece or altered it.
That was a really great play by JR. He’s surprised me with some of his defensive ability…
I wonder if Cols has watched any games this year.
I wanted Moz to hit that alley-oop dunk SO BADLY!
Me too. But I’m glad they saw him and fed it to him.
KLove with ANOTHER taken charge!
Love is impressing the HELL out of me tonight so far!
Always kept the faith with Love. Whenever the national media said he looked so depressed I always thought he was actually just in an ultra focused mode to understand what he needs to do better to help the team. We will need him badly in the playoffs.
Give up a good shot to get a great shot!
Yes sir… and great D right there… BS foul call right there!
Makes me believe they are beginning to run blatts offensive schemes.
Cavs have cooled off a little, but still playing smothering D on Kings. Only two easy baskets tonight for Sacto…
Totally agree EG… great to see them keep the energy on D.
TT finding that FT stroke. Great to see a boring defensive stretch won by the Wine and Gold.
Was just going to mention that. Defense has been excellent this 1st half of the 2nd quarter. Need to finish strong here.
It’s fun to play D when everybody on the team is playing it. No fun at all if you’re the only one.
Nice double team by Kyrie!
GREAT transition D from Love on that play! Awesome!
KYRIEEEEEE! Picking up where he left off from deep!
That dunk from Gay might be in the top three on SC top 10 tonight. Wow!
MAN! Love looks SO much more aggressive tonight! Is Nate sitting behind the Cavs’ bench heckling him or something?
We are in the bonus. Go to the hole!
Remember the old “three to make two” free throw rule?
Bummed KLove didn’t hit that one… he deserved it with the work he did to get free…
They are FEEDING Love in the post…. I”m loving it!
Hope LBJ doesn’t need to play too much tonight. That wrist looks like it needs some more time off…
What was the double T for on JR and DMC?
Let’s hope KLove’s back doesn’t tighten up again in the second quarter…
He looks different… maybe the All-Star slight has fueled him?
Great that they were seeing the mismatch Love has… fed him twice, drew a foul the second time.
Nice! Drew another foul…. ran that play for Love right there.
TT – one ingredient in the winning recipe.
