Live Thread: Cavs @ Bucks (#WombatCrossing)
2016-11-29The Cavs will find a familiar face on this second stop of their brief road trip tonight, as they visit Milwaukee which is now home of not only the Bucks… but also The Wombat. For those pining to see Matthew Dellavedova in action… here’s your chance. Only, this time his dogged demeanor will be used against Kyrie Irving instead of to back him up. Some say it should be a greatly anticipated matchup… although to honest, it probably occurred every day in practice when he was with the Cavs.
Yes, Delly is the starting point guard for this young Bucks team after spending his first three years of his NBA career in Cleveland. The Aussie guard is having a decent year so far, scoring 7.9 points and dishing out 6.3 dimes per game. His three point shooting is down a bit at just 34%, but his defense has been as gritty as ever and he’s brought his Championship pedigree with him in a leadership role on the floor for Coach Jason Kidd (who probably sees a lot of himself in The Wombat). For his part, it sounds like Delly is looking forward to going against his old mates…
“I’m looking forward to catching up with them and seeing them,” Dellavedova told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Obviously you develop strong relationships and friendships with not only the players, but the coaches and training staff. It will be a little bit funny playing against them for the first time, but I should know their tendencies pretty well.”
Meanwhile, the Cavs are looking to extend their win streak to five in a row by keeping the 7-8 Bucks down and under. Up until Sunday’s game against Philly, the Cavs’ big three had been taking turns blowing the doors off of their opponents early. Due (most likely) to their Buckeye hangover, it took three quarters before they felt like themselves against the Sixers. We’ll see if they can get back to their hot-shooting ways early against Milwaukee, a team they’ve beaten the last six times they’ve played them.
The Cavs will get Iman Shumpert back following a one game absence for a sore hamstring. Channing Frye (bereavement) however, won’t return until Thursday against the Clippers.
Probable Starting Lineup for the Cavs: LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith, Kyrie Irving. And for the Bucks: Jabari Parker, Giannis Antetokounmpo, John Henson, Tony Snell, Matthew Dellavedova.
Game time is 8pm EST, and can be seen on FSO.
Prediction: The Wombat and his wisdom (that’s what a pack of wombats is called) make it challenging for a while before the Cavs pen them in 104-95.
GO CAVS!
I can live with LeBron, KLove and Kyrie maybe taking a few possessions off defensively on any given night but the rest of the guys continuously looking bad defensively is just unacceptable.
Do not unlearn what you learned. Am I the only one with a memory longer than the last game played??
No, you are the only one who continually repeats himself
If you would remember what happens when the team decides to play hard o wouldn’t have to repeat myself.
I totally understand you Cols but again I get your point if you are referring to any member of the big three but I don’t see why the rest of the squad is not competing the way they should. The Cavs have a really deep roster and it shouldn’t be that hard for them to do it.
And the Cavs issues have being mostly in road games.
Besides the game against the Hawks they have played well at home.
Giannis was awesome. Brogdon looks like a keeper. He probably takes Dellys starting job of Delly continues to be unable to score.
That’s the worst regular season loss I can remember in a while where LeBron played…
Yeah. We were due.
For sure. Maybe the Martin Luther King Day massacre was the last one, and of course that was worse
True that, that game was the worst hame loss in cavs history, no?
Worst I can remember.
We should trade love for bostons trash.
Don’t panic, just trade Love. Do I have that right?
Mamba gets the hundo…
Who can we get for Kevin Love?
He wasn’t the problem…
Seriously?
Thon maker just ended Birdman ‘s career. Ankles will never be the same.
The moment the front office can no longer deny we need a big
Our bigs this year are better than our bigs last year. And last year we were the best team in the NBA
Really wanted maker in the draft.
Why?
I think that’s a made up name… Thon Maker…
Anagrams to Tom Harken. Call him the Senator!
Lol
what I don’t understand is why the Cavs are not better defensively. With such a deep roster coach Lue should just bench the guys that are not playing with right effort.
They are great defensively whenever they choose to be. Mostly they save it for games they care about. Don’t unlearn the lessons of last year.
Absolutely, rest for James (32 mpg) is most important thing this season.
I don’t know if that matters. He’s in chill mode most of the time.
Well I think resting, eg having back to backs off or shorter mintues is preferable, as chill mode or not, the more minutes/games played the more risk of injury. Father time is undefeated and always will be. Saving him for the playoffs is most important.
Yeah. I trust LeBron though to know when he needs rest and when he doesn’t.
Yep. That is why I am not too concerned. Last year was the same kind of thing. Though of course, he is another year older and has another long season and post-season of minutes on him. Still, yeah, he has a goal, and it is primarily concerned with the post-season so he likely is accounting for that. If not, Lue probably will in March and April.
but besides LeBron the rest of the guys need to bring it IMO.
Maker wow
Misery loves company. Spurs look like they are laying an egg too
Yep. Bet their fans won’t panic.
And Clips in OT against the Nets…
James Freaking Jones!
8-10 to start the season from three…
Eh. We were due for a bad game. As usual it is meaningless. Don’t panic.
For once I agree with you. This team may interestingly pose a matchup problem for us, but it doesn’t matter because we won’t face them. All that matters is limiting Jame’s minutes to around 32-34 in the course of the regular season and we are golden playoff time. He and the rest of the team will step up defensively if we limit their minutes.
If we face this team in the playoffs we will sweep them.
I could see that or a 4 – 1, but I think like Detroit last year it would be competitive every game. Giannis is a beast and Parker is playying well. Defensively, this team could be a beast.
I think everyone rage quit on the Live Thread… lol
Not me. I understand you can’t win them all. And sometimes even the Cavs get beat when they don’t care.
Jeez the bucks get away with a lot of contact.
I thought the same.
No matter what our record says, we have played an extremely easy schedule thus far. The record might say we are locked in, but we are coasting, and that is fine. Rest is all that matters. It is highly unlikely we will beat the warriors for first overall seed in the regular season. As long as LBJ and co are rested even more than last year we have a punchers chance in the finals.
I know it’s just November but if the Cavs are going to compete like this specially defensively all they are going to do is play from behind most games.
They might and it doesn’t matter. We get 4th seed and we have a tremendous chance in getting back to the finals barring another Dwight Howard dominating series against our bigs. Think he is past that now though. As long as they strictly limit the starters minutes we are sitting pretty.
How is that NOT a foul on Beasley?
Very few second shots for the Cavs…
JR needs a verbal kick in the butt after this one
Brogdon is not having much trouble getting past Kyrie…
No one is having trouble getting past Kyrie
Delly leads all players with 7 assists. Lebron has the same number but in turnovers.
Nobody cares about rebounds….
Or assists … Or defense … Or ball care
The Cavs need another big. I don’t even think Frye would be good tonight.
Agreed. Love was helpless against Monroe
Ty really should have stuck to his guns and just played the bench… starters don’t have it tonight and it’s a tough week ahead…
True that. This game was over in the 3rd.
this game is over.
It was probably over when they went up by 17 in the 3rd. Alright though, tough matchup for us, but we won’t see them in the playoffs in all likelihood. Surprised they don’t have a better record.
can’t hold the ball on offense against them. nobody is attacking.
LeBron’s been tally bad tonight.
This has been an AWFUL game for JR…
Lebron hasnt been much better
When in doubt, go for banana in the tailpipe
So first game I have been able to watch live in about 3 weeks (I have watched every game this season, just not live), but extreme length and athleticism seems to really hamper us on offense, and cause problems for us on defense. The bucks may be the most long and athletic team in the league. They stifle our shooters as they have guys 6’10 to 6’11 that are more athletic than everyone but James closing out on our shooters. I had no idea they were playing Henson, Parker, and Giannis in the same lineup! Wow, never would have thought… Read more »
Let’s get in the bonus.
Umm… how about a double dribble on Giannis? Jeez…
Second uncalled double dribble this game.
Good for Kyrie getting back on D… tough charge to take…
He’s prett great.
Shoulda left in the bench…
LeBron still not boxing out.
We were due for a game like this. I figured it for hangover Sunday.
Their mascot just hit a backwards halfcourter … Been that kind of night for them.
Whelp. I’m really curious how they wrap this all up. I don’t know if I enjoyed it but I’ve definitely been sucked in.
Have zero offensive gameplan right now
I guess I was wrong…
Oh yeah… on the replay he hit The Alphabet’s shoulder HARD
Dunleavy looked like he blacked out but then got up. Tried to stay in game and walked down court. Lue and LeBron tried to keep him out
Yeah. But it makes no sense.
It’s not supposed to… You’re supposed to be inside her head…
Dunleavy might get the concussion protocol after that…
Super cut from Liggins there…
Sometimes she’s wearing the blue dress. Other times the gunslinger outfit. I do not understand.
They’re memories…
$50 Lue keeps the starters on the bench…
You win
I agree and maybe he should.
Asking JFJ to iutrebound Parker is probably a mistake.
Crowd going nuts after Parker put back
This lineup just can’t defend much at all…
Hey! Mamba with a good shot!
The Bucks are just imposing their will on the Cavs. The Bucks are playing with playoffs intensity and the Cavs just don’t care about matching it.
Orange Faygo! Big shot.
Oh that’s what you were saying. I couldn’t tell. I was like orange bagel?
This is the worst form of the new era cavs. It’s like a blatt 2016 team out there
Turn out the lights
Cavs look like they are hungover from a night of beer pong with Delly.
Haha.
I wish I knew what Dolores is doing.
Delly dime.
I love this team.
White flag teaching moment from Coach Lue…
I would be really impressed if the Cavs find a way to win this one.
Oh wow the bench mob coming in…full complement too
Hot garbage Bench time. Big run coming for bucks.
Ty Lue just rage quit his offense…
Ty like is pissed. Whole team pulled
I love it when LeBron gets pissed and just starts jacking up bad shots.
He’s 7-14. Can’t be too many bad shots in there.
No confidence by Lue on too many bench players
He knows what he’s doing.
Only three deep on the bench tonight… Cavs are going to get worn out running with these guys…
Giannis is making even Delly look replacement level.
Do you think Charlotte is the MIBs daughter?
