Live Thread: Cavs vs. Hornets (#ThrowBackToBack)
2016-12-10Get ready for a double dose of orange and nostalgia, as the Cavs keep the throwback vibe going tonight when they host the Charlotte Hornets at the Q. After rolling over the Heat last night, and Rick Cavsrolling the fans in attendance with their homage to the earwig that is never gonna give you up, the Cavaliers roll right into the second night of a back-to-back. Despite rumors to the contrary that the wine & gold might be resting a few of their starters (including LeBron and Kevin Love), according to Coach Ty Lue, they’ll actually have almost their entire complement back on the floor…
Tonight's starters are a full-go, including @TheRealJRSmith.#DefendTheLand https://t.co/gbK2S7nBg5

That includes a return to action from J.R. Smith, who had missed the past three games with a hyperextended knee. The only man they are down is Channing Frye who was excused to attend the funeral of his father.
Although J.R. will be back as the starting two for the team, Lue also made it sound like spot starter, DeAndre Liggins, had done enough to impress to earn a larger role in the rotation. So, expect to still see a decent dose of the defensive-minded swingman.
“If J.R. doesn’t get hurt, we don’t know where Liggs would be right now,” Lue said. “Everything happens for a reason. We see what Liggs can bring to this team defensively. Defensively the last three games we’ve been great. I like what I’ve seen as far as being in the right position, being in the right spots, helping our teammates out, shrinking the floor, and then getting back out with the multiple effort. We’ve been great at doing that these last three games.”
The Hornets come to town winners of their last three, and four of their last five with their only defeat in overtime against the Timberwolves. Both Kemba Walker and Nic Batum are having stellar years thus far offensively, but Charlotte’s calling card this season has really been their gritty defense where they’re giving up just over 100 points per game.
Cavs probable starting lineup:Â LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith, Kyrie Irving.
Hornets probable starting lineup: Nicholas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kemba Walker, Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller.
Prediction: The Cavs keep the good times rolling… 109-101.

Grizz are now 17-8 after downing the Dubs by 21…

Just have to have the Bray gets punched in the nutz thing happen a lot…
Ty Lue saying that LeBron told him he wanted to play as much as needed tonight since Kyrie was off…
He really was. Thank God for Lue and liggins.
Miami, Chicago on NBA TV is a three point game with just over a minute left.
Crazy game… tough stretch for the Heat having to play LBJ and then DWade…

There’s a lot going on in this comments thread.
Meanwhile… Grizz still beating the Dubs by 20+ at the end of the third…
FRAUDS!1!!
LOL
#ColsSays
Love the Grizz stomping the dubs. I wish they didn’t run out of gas/players every year in the playoffs.
Not looking foward to the home and away back to back with them next week…
Me either, they are playing really well…it’s crazy, no Conley and they are playing great.
Looking like a great draft for them So far
No Chandler Parsons either.
The Grindhouse is still a very tough place to play…
LBJ not chasing the triple double like Russ. Royce Young described several games where Westbrook wrestles boards away from teammates. 42 mins on a b2b with awesome numbers
LBJ oddly -1 in his 42 mins… Shump with team high +22 in 32 mins…
This is what Lebron does when he wants to try, basically….that, and when he has his shot going…
When he’s got it all going he’s impossible.
LBJ was awesome… but Shump was also fantastic tonight
Klove too. Loved liggins’ D.
TT also awesome.
Good game from almost everyone but Irving.
Hornets were really trying to take Kyrie away tonight… lot of double teams
Exactly how teams should play Kyrie.
If they want to get eaten alive by Bron… ;)
Throwback game for the King. What agame!
LeBron with the circus shot to seal the deal.
One board shy…
The Circus was in town…
Lol….Lebron…
WOW!!!
Klove is the so good at getting to the line.
Phew – clutch foul on KLove
I can’t believe that Shump three didn’t go in… that’s how much I expect it to these days…
Hornets looking beat think they’ve given up without walker.
Probably.
He’s really what makes them go…
SHUMP!!

Bellinelli finally missing those flying shots.
LBJ with the last 17 Cav points…
41 for the King… sounds deliciously familiar…
Just caught up to the game. Loving the liggins effect. And LeBron has been galactic.

Banged knees with LBJ…
Ouch. That does not look good for Kemba…
Man, hate to see Kemba go down like that… hope it’s not serious…
Ugh, hope that isn’t something flukey bad for Walker…
Maybe just a bump and a little hyperextended
Yeah, hope so.
LBJ just taking the game over…

Could use a timeout..,
Kyrie out of sync…
“C’mon, fight through it! We got two days off!” – Ty Lue

LeBron with great energy there — big rebound and coast to coast!
You can’t stop LeBron James…
35-9-7 on the back to back. Remember when we thought he was old…
I counted an offensive foul, a travel and a double dribble on that Hornets possession that ended with the RJ steal…
LBJ really shooting well tonight
LBJ with 33!
Oh my… LBJ is Feeling it!
The chicago special!
I like this lineup.
Liggins with another strip… but Hornets got it back…
Grizz up 61-38 at half over Dubs…watch them lose, anyway…
Cavs much more ready to go to start the fourth…
RJ!!

Only reason Cavs aren’t running away with this is Kyrie’s tough shooting night…
I was just typing: we need some MFQ.
Great ending to the quarter after letting Hornets close to three…
Hibbert is so bad. How do you go from impact player on an ECF contender to back up to awkward Zeller?
He’s always been a stiff, but the direction the NBA has gone has diminished his game even more…
