Live Thread: Cavs vs. Pistons #OrangeYouReady
2017-03-14The Cavs return from an up and down three game road trip, hoping to get a bit of revenge against the team they faced on the first stop last Thursday. The Detroit Pistons are in town, hanging on to their .500 record and the 7th seed in the East by their fingernails, and the guys in wine & gold orange should be ready to deliver some payback for the 106-101 defeat administered almost a week ago. This will be the fourth and final time the Cavs face the team who could easily wind up being their first round match up for the second consecutive season. Detroit has the advantage, winning both games that were played in the Palace at Auburn Hills. But, tonight is another Throwback Night as the Cavs don their Hardwood Classic jerseys once more, so let’s hope they throw a loss back in the Pistons’ general direction.
Cleveland could probably use a bit of help on the glass, since Andre Drummond and his team out-rebounded the Cavs the last time… and with them also coming off a thumping in that category against the Rockets. Larry Sanders is signed, but won’t be available, as he spends a couple of weeks down in Canton starting this Saturday. Most everyone else is available, sans Kevin Love (who could rejoin the team on the next road trip) and Kyle Korver (missing his fourth game with a sore foot).
Cavs probable starting lineup: LeBron James, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Kyrie Irving.
Pistons probable starting lineup: Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, Andre Drummond, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Reggie Jackson.
Prediction: Cavs throw down on throwback night and orange crush the Pistons, 110-102.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm EST on Fox Sports Ohio.
Liggins will push the rock.
Ok. This is the running debate at the Smith house from LeBron’s tumble at the hands of Marcus Morris earlier. Is this Henry Rollins?
Maybe… he’s in Cleveland now and then…
No, jawline is too wide.
Ike just started singing Hotel California… where the hell is my mute button?
Who is it?
Isaiah Thomas
My least favorite NBAer maybe ever.
Agree with Nate.
Now they’re talking about Duran Duran and bands from the 80s…
LIG on the board!
Liggins! (promptly gets blocked)
I can’t believe this is pizza hut’s new ad campaign.

Free Liggins! Defend dammnit!
I think it’s time.
Now with JR getting his rythm back one could only imagine a line up with KK and JR. Can’t wait to watch it.
D-Will doing work. 11/2/3 on 5-5 & 1-1 from deep with zero TOs. Pretty good for useless.
Deron has not missed…
Pudge! On the block! With the up and under! That was positively Nate Smith-esque.
Lol
Wow! Pretty move on the block from DWill!
Let’s have some more guys join the 20 pt club: James, Ky, Love, JR, TT, Frye, Korver & McRae are it so far this year.
This is the no rebounding lineup… lol
So JR is back, right?
Based on this game, it seems that way…
SWISH! Thumb looks good!
Almost got it. Shump for Liggins. One more shot Shump, get to 20!
Cavs doing a 100 times better job of providing hedging help on the perimeter
Isaiah just called Shump “Shemp”
With a 34 point lead… maybe even Liggins will see some run…
James, Kyrie, & TT played that whole quarter. We wanted to step on their throats. I think all 3 guys are finished for the game. Let’s look at D-Will1, Liggins, JR, D-Will2, & Frye to start the 4th. Let Shump & RJ rest for a while. Then let them come on to get 20 each with Felder, JFJ, & Sanders.
Time to rest LBJ and TT at least.
Let’s hope the Cavs keep this pace against the Jazz next Thursday. It would be great if they play with this pace all the time but I’m just trying to be realistic lol.

James knocks down Kyrie on the rebound, keeps his dribble while helping Irving up, and TT ducks to avoid the skip pass. Doesn’t matter. 3 points for RJ.
RJ 19 for last 37 from deep.
Gonna be nuggets before the fourth…
Glad LBJ didn’t kill Kyrie there… lol… he knocked him down, helped him up and continued his dribble…
LBJ gets the triple double… 14/11/10

RJ sold that a little. And Leuer wasn’t wearing his anti banana disguise.
Watching Jefferson this season reminds me of the end of Green Mile.
“If Richard is playing this well at 36, how many years does LeBron have left?”
Would have been nice to hear the call of those Kyrie moves…
This is insane scoring.
Kyrie having a good time!
Now the NBATV crew talking about NCAA Tournament… please STFU and get back to game!
We are up 30.
I still want to hear Fred and AC instead of Isaiah and Anthony drone on about nonsense…

I’d like to see Shump crack 20. I thought RJ had it last game with 16 at half & he didn’t get a shot in the 2nd half. Hope Shump gets there tonight. With Frye getting his stroke going again, RJ finding his, JR’s return, & Korver & Love in the wings, if Shump starts hitting shots again…
Shump!
Jefferson is a superior finisher.
Good timeout by Lue and Cavs come back on 7-0 run…
Six poor possessions in a row.
Shumpman Shumpman Shumpman!

Cavs a little sluggish. Detroit a Little More dialed in.
Let’s put these guys to sleep. Hoop. Heat check. Tried to draw a foul, iso for a long 3 & then 2 TOs. Five poor possessions in a row.
Maybe I’m getting old, but I kinda hate heat checks…
Me too. They are stupid. It’s like a rationale that if you make a couple shots in a row, you are allowed to do something stupid. Why not just continue to play smart?
Totally agree…
I didn’t hate that one. It was in the flow of the offense. It’s when they step back and shoot from 30 that I hate.
Shump in rhythm!

Amazing half. Can’t even imagine what this team would look like with a full healthy roster hitting on all cylinders.
I like imagining it. Throw Love, Korver, & Sanders into this mix. Ouch.
Defense has been much improved tonight also…
Saw a post that we’ve held 3 of the last 4 under 43%. Including Houston. Though we couldn’t clean the glass vs. the Rockets.

who is guarding R Jackson today ?
Anyone want to bet the Cavs had a very good practice yesterday?
68.4% from floor, 77% from three! 23 boards and 19 assists
Way to finish the half!

Wow. Cavs awesome and Detroit crappy. Gotta love it.
TT!!
DAMN! RJ missed a three…
I like the quick attacks on offense from the Cavs. Let’s hope they keep it up. No ISO’s please.
They are really pushing the ball so far…
Yeah. We can always go iso if the initial push & movement don’t get us anything. I just don’t like the possessions where we don’t even try to run any real offense, don’t attack the rim, & settle.
These 5-Hour Energy commercials need to go.
I’m going to Shump you up!
Definitely more effort on the boards tonight.
That’s the 4th awful call. Two with TT. The screen. Oh, that’s why Kyrie goes kamakazie, bounce pass.
Shump-o-matic from the right wing pullup tonight…

Good to see Shump back to hitting that mid-ranger…
Another terrible call by the refs… gotta let the guy land…
What a dribble move.
